Sky’s Rejection Chapter 55

(Dimitri’s POV)

‘I figured a way into the vampire kingdom.’ Dean mind linked me, causing me to jump out of the seat in my office.

My father jumped back, partially startled as he looked at me in concern. I could see the stress lines from the recent events playing on his face. “Is everything alright son?”

“Sorry father, I didn’t mean to worry you. Dean has figured out a way to get inside of the Kingdom. Are you alright taking over the new border patrol arrangement I have made until I return?” I asked as I looked at him apologetically. I didn’t want to startle him but Demon’s and I excitement got the better of me. I wish I could take the stress away from him but even when I try to keep him out of the pack affairs he always finds a way to squeeze himself in.

‘I am not sorry at all, I want our mate back.’ Demon says with confidence and no regret in his voice.

“Are you sure you don’t need me there with you? I will always have your back Dimitri.” Father said, I could see all his fears playing out in his head. Mother couldn’t lose him and neither could I.

“No father. I appreciate everything you do, but I need someone with the pack in case this ends up being a trap.” I said with certainty, I didn’t want him to trace an ounce of doubt in my mind.

“Of course son, go get our Luna and bring her home.” Father said with a smile, I knew he had developed a soft spot for Sky as much as my mother has. I wonder how I will break it to them that we will never give them grand pups? Mother hasn’t questioned it yet though, maybe she already has a feeling. That will be another time.

‘Round up the men and I will meet you in the forest.’ I mind linked to Dean as I sent father a grateful smile before heading out of my office.

‘I hope mate is fine.’ Demon says sadly, bringing my mood down with him. She will be okay, she is strong. I thought back to him, trying to make him focus on the task at hand. We can’t be mopping while going into a dangerous situation like this. He lifts his head slightly in my head, before sighing and retreating to the back of my mind. He’s not in the right mind set to fight with me.

As I reach Dean I see the excitement running over his face. What the hell has gotten him all happy? We still have to beat the vampires without starting a war to get Sky back and Diane if she wasn’t involved that is.

“Why are you so happy?” I grumbled as I trudge along beside him. Dean wasted no time with heading off to goddess knows where. I just hope this isn’t a trap.

“Diane mind linked me, she accept our mate bond. I can feel her, as if my soul has finally came together the way I have always imagined. I know, I know, I have a lot of making up to do for the actions I have committed towards her but I am just happy to call her mine.” Dean said in happiness as I saw the giddiest look on his face. I have never seen him this excited before and we have grown up together.

“That’s nice. I wonder why Sky can barely link me if Diane can say that much into the link with you.” I said in curiosity. Does this mean she is working for the vampire King? Maybe they didn’t know she could mind link others? Couldn’t all witch mind link or was it only the powerful ones?

Dean paled as he turned to me in concern. What is wrong with him now? “I am not sure if Diane is working with the vampire King or not. She is the one who told me of the secret passage they do not guard. Maybe we should be on the look out until we know for sure. I hate I am double guessing my mate but you are right. Why can she link and not Sky. She told us to hurry though as if she was trying to protect Sky.”

He‘s telling the truth, he doesn’t know if this is a trap or rescue mission. I guess we will be finding out soon enough. “Lead the way.”

As we arrived at the entrance point, I didn’t see a living or non living soul around. Maybe this wasn’t a trap. It was eerily quiet though. I glanced at Dean and he nodded to me. He knew what I wanted. I took the first group through as Dean held back with the second group. I can’t have all my leadership and men killed if it is a set up. As we proceeded forward almost three miles, I looked around and realized no one was over here, I proceeded to the middle of the arena looking area, crouching to keep myself hidden.

‘It is not a trap, proceed.’ I mind linked Dean before focusing back at my surroundings. All of a sudden a bright violet light caught my eye as a b***d red light light up right next to it. What the hell was going on over there?

‘Mate, it’s our mate. Isn’t she perfect. Go to mate.’ Demon demanded as he paced in my head. I must have taken to long for him because before I could blink a thought back into my mind, Demon was taking control and running towards the lights. I guess lights now, I don’t see the red one anymore.

I feel my arms wrap around Sky, making my heart beat faster as I never wanted to let her go. It felt right to finally have her back in my arms, this is what I needed. I felt as Sky calmed Demon, making him return control back to me.

‘I can’t find the King anywhere and no one is speaking. How would you like to proceed?’ Dean mind linked as I stared into my mates eyes.

‘Not sure yet.’ I replied in the mind link.

I tightened my arms around her, never wanting to release my hold on her. She relaxed into my hold, making my smile. Until I smelt her b***d, felt my hands collecting a pool of b***d. Demon and I’s anger escalated quickly, “Where is the bastard? Did he touch you? Are you hurt? Of course you are hurt, all I smell is your b***d.” I did everything possible to place my scent on her, trying to ignore the smell of b***d and that disgusting vampire. Death lingered around my mate and I wanted it gone, I needed it gone.

“Di, calm down.” Sky said softly and slowly as I felt the tingles from her hands on my cheeks. I stared deep into her violet eyes, wishing for all of this to be a nightmare. I allowed my mate to be hurt, again. How bad of a mate must she think I am at this point. I get pulled out of my thoughts as she begins to speak more. “The vampire is dead, I just killed him. Diane helped me and was as much a prisoner as I was. She is currently looking for a new vampire King who will help this Kingdom grow and not drag them down. He didn’t touch me, I would rather die than ever be mated to anyone other than you. I am hurt, but only slightly, do not panic. Angel and Rain are healing me. All we need right now is you. I just need my mate.”

‘She needs us, they want us. Did you hear them?’ Demon says joyfully as he pounces around in my head like a damn cat. Can this wolf not control his emotions just a little bit? I visibly relaxed, as she followed suit. I needed her closer to me, with that thought in mind I scoped her into my arms, I could feel something off with Sky and I just couldn’t place my finger on it. Right now I needed to get her back home, safely.

‘Then have the doctor check her, I don’t like smelling mates b***d.’ Demon whined and I couldn’t agree more with him as I did in this very instant.

I started to shout out orders, “Dean, help Diane find the right fit as the new king and inform the council what has happened here. They need to know about the change in power as well. I will leave all but ten warriors with you. Have them swipe over the whole Kingdom and make sure no one who is loyal to that a*s-hat is still alive. Come home when everything is settled. I am going to take Our Luna Queen home.”

‘Yay home.’ Demon cheers.

“Yes Alpha,” Dean chanted with a smile on his face. “Bravo team, escort our Alpha and Luna home. The rest of you scope out the land and make sure nothing else is going on here. I want full reports within the hour.”

I could feel the weight of my mate becoming heavier, as I looked down I could see how tired she was and watch as exhaustion was wining the losing battle she was trying to fight. I begin to walk and I see a slight smile appear on her face as her eyes close permanently.

‘This is where she belongs, right in our arms. Never let mate go again.’ Demon demands and I chuckle as I could picture myself fighting to keep Sky in my arms and never separate from my side. My Luna is to strong willed to ever do that. I heard Demon grumble at my laughter as he called me names under his breath.

“I have you. Sleep, Mon amour.” I whispered into her ear with my voice full of love and passion. I couldn’t imagine a better mate. I don’t have to tell her more than once. I feel her body turn into dead weight as I smiled down at my peacefully sleeping mate. I could stare at her forever and never get tired. Her body calms and relaxes into my hold. I feel at ease and content with her in my arms.

‘We finally have mate back, I will never let her out of our sight again.’ Demon said with determination. He will have a long tiring battle with Sky if that is how he feels. I want her safe and under my watch at all times too but I already know how Sky will be. We will see which one wins this battle.
