Chapter 203 Spirit Possession

"Uriah, are you really hurt badly on the inside?" Rocky asked with concern. He remembered the time when they had gone to capture the two Dark Heaven Insects at Carcass Valley. At that time, in order to protect little Rubygon, Uriah had to withstand a huge attack launched by the Dark Heaven Insect at the second grade of the three-star level. Without it, he wouldn't have been alive today. They shared a deep bond. To Rocky, Uriah was not just a spirit- manipulated beast; it was his only family and his best friend.

"There is a treatment. But it's a little dangerous... Do you know about Spirit Possession?" Sheridan inquired.

"Spirit Possession?" Rocky repeated. He had heard of it. He had also witnessed the Spirit Possession adopted by Tasha, a beautiful genius from the Magic Phoenix Empire when he had contested against her at the Dragon Birth Festival of the Holy Dragon Empire.

"Spirit Possession is a secret technique that combines a spirit-manipulated beast with the body of the spirit manipulator and thus becomes a single being. As is known by most people, Spirit Possession is extremely dangerous, although your power would be dramatically increased after becoming one with your beast. However, if you don't have sufficient power to control and curb the power of the spirit-manipulated beast, trying to acquire this kind of technique would be like welcoming death with an embrace. This isn't known to many, but the Spirit Possession technique isn't created by a spirit manipulator. It is the work of a beast evaluator, well-versed in veterinary medicine. In the beginning, this technique was used to cure the diseases of the spirit-manipulated beasts by exerting spiritual power on it. "Are you saying that I have to use Spirit Possession to cure Uriah?" Rocky asked.

"That's right. You're not too dumb after all! After you and your spirit-manipulated beast become one entity, you could perceive where the injury of the beast is, and then cure it using your spiritual power," Sheridan said, nodding every now and then.

"Well, how do I reach the state of Spirit Possession?" Rocky enquired.

"Once you feel connected to your spirit-manipulated beast, that is, when you feel that you are one with your beast, and if you and your beast trust each other, there is a chance for you to achieve that state. I can teach you the mental method of Spirit Possession. Of course, I can only teach you how it's done, but whether you can do it or not depends entirely on you. An ordinary spirit manipulator cannot easily reach the state of Spirit Possession. Generally, only a spirit manipulator with the power of the spiritual race can achieve it. That is, only royal spirit manipulators can reach the state in the Holy Dragon Empire. In-born gift and aptitude are required to learn Spirit Possession. As far as I know, very few ordinary spirit manipulators have reached the state,” Sheridan explained.

Manipulators could just get a new beast if their spirit-manipulated beast died, but a spirit manipulators life was irreversible.

"Fine. I'll teach you the mental method. Listen to me carefully,” Sheridan continued. Then, he began to teach Rocky the mental method of Spirit Possession.

Rocky learnt it by heart, and said to Sheridan, "Thank you for the favor. I owe you one." After that, he left with Uriah.

"Boy, show me what you can do," Sheridan said with an unfathomable smile on his face.

Spirit Possession was a dangerous practice. Combining the power of a spirit-manipulated beast with the spirit manipulator would produce destructive power. Thus, the process couldn't be carried out indoors. It would cause a huge commotion in the military camp. Taking into consideration the safety of everyone, Rocky went back to the house, took Rubygon and sneaked out of the military camp to the Ghost Village.

After arriving in Ghost Village, Rocky went to the nest to see the three Dark Heaven Insects. He also brought two carts of fertile soil to them. After that, he came out of the nest.

Rocky and Uriah went to the center of the village after making sure that Rubygon stayed away from the scene.

"Are you ready?" Rocky asked Uriah

The wounded beast grumbled weakly.

Rocky began the mental method of Spirit Possession. The spiritual power at the second grade of the Earthly Stage burst out, making the surrounding shine like the sun.

At that same time, detecting the power from the mental method of Spirit Possession, Uriah sparkled with an iridescent light, which added radiance and charm to the light which came from Rocky.

In the end, Uriah became nothing but a blurry light, as it started to combine with Rocky as an entirety.

Due to the serious injury, Uriah's spiritual power was a little weakened. Uriah became unstable after its spiritual power became a blurry mist, and the light coming from the beast started to turn dim and then bright, and then dim again. Thus, the possession was extremely slow.

Rocky detected the spiritual power from Uriah merging with him and noticed that the very disorderly force of Uriah was declining his spiritual power. It impacted his body negatively time and time again.

A war was being waged inside Rocky's body. As Uriah's spiritual power gradually combined with Rocky's, the war field expanded too. Soon, the conflict spread throughout his body. All he could do was try to combine their spiritual powers to the maximum and quickly reach the state of Spirit Possession.

Uriah's spiritual power was not yet weaker than Rocky's. It was not a simple task to combine their spiritual powers.

As time passed, Rocky broke out in a cold sweat, turning extremely pale. He felt like numerous bombs were going off in his body, the impact destroying his organs and breaking him apart.

Rocky had only managed to combine half of the blurry mist, which was Uriah's spiritual power, and the impact it had on his body was too strong and obvious. If he combined all of the beast's spiritual power, he couldn't imagine what would happen to him.

But no matter what happened, he had to persevere until the Spirit Possession was complete.
