Chapter 1652 Have Explained

Athena shared the message with Byron.

"You might have heard about Sally's pretty terrible reputation outside," she began.

Byron nodded in understanding.

"In truth, it's all false," Athena sighed, "Her half-sister from another father, Jessica, deliberately set traps to frame her out of jealousy. Jessica tried to harm Sally at the luncheon, but Elijah and I caught her. It turned into a standoff, and Gideon overheard."

Byron understood what had happened. "Gideon's always believed those rumors."

Athena nodded. "Right when it happened, it was during he and Sally's first breakup, and he was the one who brought it up."

Later that afternoon, Athena inquired with Sally.

Even if it meant protecting Jessica, Sally could have explained to Gideon that it was all fabricated.

But Sally simply said, "I've explained it already."

Those words were delivered with remarkable calmness.

However, Athena fell into silence instantly.

"He didn't believe me and broke up," Sally continued.

The ultimate truth of Gideon and Sally's separation was revealed in just a few words.

"The truth must have been tough for him," Byron remarked in a subdued tone.

Athena acknowledged. "That's why I had Mike watch over him, as a precaution."

Byron didn't respond verbally, pulling Athena into an embrace.

"Mia mentioned that Evie also had a less-than-desirable boyfriend in the past, and they were together for years," Byron started.

Athena chuckled, "Your relationship with your daughter seems quite open. Did she share this with you?"

"Of course," Byron confirmed.

"Honey, I appreciate that you still choose to be with me," Byron's tone carried a hint of vulnerability.

Athena comforted him. "We made a pact not to linger on those past issues."

Byron gave a vague response.

"It's getting late. Time to sleep!" Athena lightly caressed him again, "I was even thinking about taking you all nearby for a few days of fun before heading back, but seeing Gideon's state, we should return sooner."

Regardless of what happened between Gideon and Sally, he saved Aiden and Mia. Gideon was Athena's benefactor.

Athena didn't want anything wrong to happen to Gideon.

"Alright." Byron was also concerned about Gideon's well-being.

After discussing it, they embraced and went to sleep.

The next day, Athena had breakfast at Sally's place.

However, Sally didn't show up until around lunchtime.

"Seems like you had a good time," Athena led with this comment.

Sally coughed lightly, not as shy as she was last night.

Hooking her arm around Athena's, she said familiarly, "You texted about leaving tonight?"

"Yeah," Athena affirmed.

"Could you stay a bit longer? Let the family give Byron some medical attention." Sally whispered, as if afraid someone might hear that Byron was ill.

"Interestingly, there's an upcoming event next month in Northern Canakey hosted by the Timberlake family, and since Byron and I will be there, we might as well attend," Athena replied.

"Evie's due to have a baby next month. She's the daughter-in-law of the Timberlake family!" Sally suddenly realized.

Sally had heard of Evie before.

But the two never got in touch.

But they hadn't connected until recently when Athena introduced them on WhatsApp.

Evie and Sally instantly found a deep connection.

Their likes and interests were almost identical.

"Yeah," Athena echoed.

"Alright," Sally conceded with a hint of hesitation, "I suppose we'll have to catch up next time I'm in Mailand!"

"Sounds good," Athena said, gently hugging her, "Just promise not to let yourself be unfairly treated like that again, okay?"
