My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup -
Chapter 1445
Chapter 1445 Poison
Bertha had been busy all afternoon, feeling a bit of a headache, so she came back to rest.
In a daze, she heard voices outside, got up, and went out.
Upon coming out, she saw her daughter closing the door.
Byron, who should have been upstairs, was sitting inside the small hall.
"What's going on?" Bertha asked, "Alan, did you run out?"
"Mom, he went out with me. It's so lively outside, and he wanted to see how our people are doing in these activities," Zora quickly explained.
Seth remained silent. He carefully thought about Byron's physical condition.
Byron was weak, and there seemed to be some signs of poisoning.
"Just let him watch. Why closes the door?" Bertha questioned.
"Stacey just ran in suddenly, almost saw Alan... She has met Alan before." Zora looked down, her legs trembling and her heart still trembling with fear. Bertha's expression changed. "Stacey?"
"Yes, but she probably didn't see him. Seth and I reacted quickly," Zora spoke, glancing hesitantly at Byron.
Byron looked down, a bit absent-minded, lost in thought.
No... She knew what he was thinking. He was thinking about Athena, that flirtatious woman.
Just because she was prettier...
Zora's heart seemed to be in turmoil.
"Alan, you look tired. Take the medicine for tonight and rest." Bertha walked to Byron's side.
"He won't take tonight's medicine for now. After leaving the island, we'll go to the hospital for a check-up and decide about the medicine," Seth suddenly intervened. Bertha frowned. "His health is relying on your medicine. How can he skip it? I've prepared everything!"
"If he's not taking it, then be it!" Seth suddenly raised his voice.
Byron looked up at him.
"I'll help you rest," Seth said, helping Byron up and leading him upstairs.
He walked in silence all the way. After putting Byron back in bed, Seth turned to leave.
"Did Bertha poison me?" Byron's voice came from behind him.
Seth froze in his tracks.
Byron continued, "The taste of the medicine these past two days has been off."
"If you knew it wasn't right, why did you still take it?" Seth turned to look at Byron. "Do you want to die?"
Suddenly, an image appeared in Byron's mind. It was the woman holding flowers, her face full of sorrow as tears streamed down.
"I don't want now."
"Did you really want to die before? Why?" Seth was greatly shocked.
"I've always remembered that I had someone I loved deeply, but it seemed she didn't love me, and she was afraid of me. She didn't love me when I was well, and now that I've become like this, she would despise me even more, wouldn't love me at all. So, what's the point of me being alive?"
Seth didn't understand him. But he was profoundly moved.
Because she didn't love him, he didn't want to live?
"But life isn't just about love and being loved. There are many things you can do. Life is so long. You can find a new love!" Seth spoke urgently.
He had never wanted to see Byron die.
"It won't happen." Byron's eyes were half-closed. "Even without my memories, my heart keeps telling me that I only have the capacity to love her, and I won't love anyone else."
That was why he felt hopeless. That was why he didn't want to live anymore.
"Then why don't you want to die now?" Seth asked.
