Chapter 1389 I Will Make Them Pay!
Athena paused, looking at Liam. "Because of that sea?"
Liam nodded. "Mr. Crawford said you would surely love this place."
Athena's brows furrowed slightly.
Withdrawing her gaze, she looked back at the sea, but it was now misted over as if by tears.
Last month, the man who was Byron's father in the name on behalf of the Crawford family had approached her.
Seeing that Imbe Group had stabilized on all fronts and that she had held the fort, they began to urge her to process Byron's death certificate and announce his death to the public.
Then, to hold a funeral and a memorial service for him.
Athena was furious, even stopping the monthly supply to Byron's father.
But so much time had passed.
Her heart had broken over and over again. She had tried everything, but she hadn't found any trace of Byron.
Not even a hint. And now, how could they ask her to conclude that he was dead?
She couldn't do it even until she died.
"Mrs. Crawford, I know Mr. Crawford was troublesome in the past, but I can clearly feel that he truly loved you deeply," Liam said with a touch of sorrow, "You don't know after the news of your presumed death, Office of the President was in mourning. Many submitted their resignations. Mr. Crawford offered high salaries to keep them... but we all knew he wasn't trying to keep the staff. He was just trying to keep those associated with you."
"I know," Athena replied, nodding lightly.
She already knew how much Byron loved her and no longer sought any confirmation.
She even started to plan a future with him.
"I'm sorry, I... I spoke too much," Liam said and wiped away tears. "In any case, even if it's for Mr. Crawford's past wishes, I want to stay and see this project through." Athena's gaze grew colder.
"I will," she answered firmly, "If anyone tries to stop me, no matter why and when, I will make them pay!"
Feeling the palpable aura emanating from her, Liam couldn't help but feel a chill. He realized that Athena was truly angry this time.
Previously, when there were issues in the company, she simply resolved them and never seemed this furious.
He became worried about the natives.
By evening, a large passenger ship docked.
On the pier, a large group of protesters had already gathered.
Nearly all the island's protesters were there.
Despite her mother's objections, Zora was there too.
"Wow, so many people? It's lively!" A refined and handsome man who was the first to disembark exclaimed.
"Mr. Shawn, please be careful!" A man followed closely behind.
"Mike, since you got hurt once, have you become so timid? From such a height, do you think I'd break my arm or leg if I jumped?" Logan teased. Mike was speechless.
In his mind, given Logan's slender physique, breaking something from such a fall seemed plausible.
"Can you stop mentioning the injury? It's been a long time!" Mike muttered.
Then he turned around and instructed the others, "Make sure you have all your stuff! Don't leave anything behind!"
"Who allowed you people to come to this island?" Zora shouted at them.
"Us?" Logan looked at Zora, then clapped his hands.
Several people disembarking from the ship lined up and unveiled a banner.
[Sworn to defend the Coral Sea, it's everyone's responsibility to protect the environment!]
Zora was left speechless.
