My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup -
Chapter 1309
Chapter 1309 It Was Normal
Just as Athena felt that she was trapped and there was no escape, a hand suddenly reached over and forcefully struck Annie's arm.
Annie winced in pain, and the syringe in her hand slipped away.
"Hensley!"
Clutching her wrist, Annie looked in shock at the tall man approaching from Athena's side.
Athena also turned her gaze in that direction.
It was one of the two killers sent by Robert.
Hensley gave Athena a glance, his expression devoid of emotion, before turning his gaze to Annie. "Mr. Anderson said we can't kill her."
His earlier hit was merciless.
As they were in a conversation, Annie's wrist started swelling.
Despite the pain, Annie seemed unfazed, her eyes burning with hysteria. "She is the one who orchestrated Heather's death! Why should she be allowed to live? Why?"
"Mr. Anderson has decided that there should only be one to die between Byron and Athena. He chose Byron, so Athena must live," Hensley stated coldly.
A chill ran down Athena's spine.
"Byron, please, you must think of our children, Aiden and Mia. We can't let them become orphans.
So, please.
Don't fall into the trap!
You must not fall into the trap," Athena thought.
"This matter is not his sole decision!" Annie's tone was exceedingly forceful. "Both Athena and Byron must die!"
Hensley didn't respond.
He took a step forward and positioned himself in front of Athena.
"Miss Annie Ross, Mr. Anderson has a message for you." Hensley stared at Annie, smiling mechanically. "He fully agrees with your sentiment that those who have insulted and harmed Miss Ross should pay with their blood and life."
"Then why doesn't he kill Athena?" Annie demanded angrily.
"Mr. Anderson said that Athena is not the mastermind, and neither is Byron," Hensley explained in an emotionless tone. "Initially, Miss Ross was not the one the Crawford family arranged for Byron's marriage, was she?"
His words took Annie aback.
"The one that the Crawford family chose for Byron was another girl. And it was you who vehemently advocated for Miss Ross, facilitating that engagement, wasn't it?"
"But that was because Heather wanted to marry Byron! She came to me and begged for my help!" Annie hurriedly defended herself.
"Byron had kept a woman for five years. You were well aware of this fact, as you yourself admitted to Mr. Anderson," Hensley continued. "Isn't it normal for a man to have a secret lover? Didn't Robert's father have one? Heather knew about it too." Annie began to lose coherence. When she discussed the marriage with Byron, she had assumed he would bring his secret lover along.
After all, he had taken that woman with him wherever he went for years.
At that time, Heather had already planned to use money and better job opportunities to tempt that woman away from Byron.
Yet, she also knew that no matter how much money she offered, it wouldn't surpass what Byron had.
Therefore, if that woman was not sensible enough and insisted on staying by Byron's side, Heather would decidedly make this unruly woman disappear. But then...
Byron hadn't wanted his precious lover to know about his engagement so soon.
When they discussed the engagement, he hadn't brought her along.
"I've had people watching her every move!" Annie suddenly pointed at Athena. "As soon as the media started reporting Heather's engagement to Byron, she immediately submitted her resignation and moved out of the house Byron provided... It must be her strategy of playing hard-to-get!"
