Chapter 1306 Annie Was Poisoned

Byron and Athena had not yet located Robert's whereabouts.

Trouble arose on Annie's side.

"One of the killers almost managed to sneak into Miss Annie Ross' room last night. Fortunately, you instructed us not to allow anyone to see her without your permission." Athena rushed over, and the security personnel immediately stepped forward to explain the situation from the previous night. "The person was disguised as a hotel cleaning personnel. We didn't pay much attention to it until this morning when Miss Annie Ross discovered something wrong with her breakfast. After investigating, we confirmed that someone had poisoned her food. If Miss Annie Ross hadn't been so cautious, only a small would be lethal, and even God couldn't have saved her."

Athena first went to check the breakfast before going to see Annie.

"How did she realize that something was wrong with the breakfast?" Athena asked.

"Miss Annie Ross said that normally, the egg should be placed on top of the mashed avocado, which was the correct way, and her assistant had emphasized this to the head chef when she checked in. She has been here for so long and has never encountered such a mistake. She called to complain, but the head chef insisted repeatedly that the fried egg was on the avocado. I was nearby and felt something was wrong, so I conducted a poison test."

"I see." Athena nodded.

Annie was known for her meticulousness in eating, which Athena had heard about before.

Unexpectedly, it had saved her life.

"Miss Annie Ross seems to have been greatly frightened," the security continued.

"I'll go see her."

After a while, Athena entered Annie's luxury suite.

She was huddled in the corner of the sofa, holding her knees.

"You've come..." She looked up at Athena, her eyes somewhat lifeless, lacking the sharpness and brilliance they once had.

"Miss Annie Ross, are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?" Athena asked gently.

Annie looked at her. "I knew it. The scythe of death is hanging over my head in a place I can't see, and it will fall sooner or later. After all, it was I who facilitated Heather's marriage with Byron... Even the lawyer responsible for drafting the marriage contract was killed. How could he spare me?"

"We have obtained some clues about the culprit. It will come to an end soon," Athena reassured.

"Clues? What kind of clues?" Annie asked.

Thinking for a while, Athena decided to be honest. "The two killers whose appearances were witnessed were sent by the youngest son of the Anderson family, Robert."

"Robert?" Annie looked puzzled. "The Ross family and the Anderson family have been rivals for a hundred years and have never interacted. What's his relationship with Heather? And why would he do these things?"

Athena looked at Annie, trying to discern any cracks in her expression.

"Heather and Robert studied at the same school." Athena paused for a moment. "It's said that his legs were injured because the Anderson family took away a business deal from the Ross family at the time. In retaliation, the Ross family hired someone to cripple young Robert through a car accident. Miss Annie Ross, haven't you heard of such a significant event?"

Annie was stunned for a moment, and her gaze shifted to the clock behind Athena.

Then she burst into a smile at Athena. "Now that you mention it, I do remember. Robert and Heather did go to the same school and got along very well. It's a pity that they were like Romeo and Juliet. Without the feud between the families, they might have continued to be childhood sweethearts. Naturally, she wouldn't have delusions about Byron and brought about such a calamity."
