Chapter 1233 What Do You Get Used To?

[Simon, I regret to inform you that your despicable plan has failed.]

Below it, a line of text stood out boldly: [Yours sincerely, Athena Newton.]

Simon's eyes quickly turned bloodshot.

"Useless! Utterly useless!" He cursed loudly and then proceeded to smash the wall.

"I knew it would turn out this way." Freya's voice came from the doorway.

Simon looked up.

He saw Freya, clad in his favorite silk robe, walking towards him with her arms across.

Simon's bloodshot eyes instantly filled with tears. "Freya, you're back. I missed you so much..."

Freya stood before him.

"Did you miss me? No, you have no right to miss me, for you can't even avenge me." She reached out, her icy fingertips touching Simon's cheek. "Unless you kill those two children and Byron, I will never be able to rest in peace, and our child won't either. Do you understand?"

Simon nodded repeatedly.

"I understand. I'll do it. Can you stay, please? I missed you so much..."

Tears streamed down his face. "If I were given another chance, I wouldn't have divorced you or let you leave six years ago..."

Freya simply stared at him with a cold expression, not responding to his plea.

In a hurry, Simon continued, "I promise I will get revenge for you. If this assassin can't do it, I'll find someone else!"

Only then did Freya react.

"Simon, as long as they are dead, no one will stop us from living our lives together. Don't you want to be with me forever? If you kill them, I'll be with you forever."

Simon immediately nodded.

He tightly embraced Freya.

"Don't go... and don't ever leave me again!"

...

Meanwhile, on the other side, after parting ways with Evie, Athena headed straight home.

By the time she arrived home, it was almost midnight.

Aiden and Mia were already fast asleep.

She checked on them and couldn't help but feel guilty and remorseful, thinking about how the animosity between adults had once again threatened their lives. After a while, Athena went upstairs to her room.

Unexpectedly, Byron was already at home.

"Didn't you say you were going to the neighboring province for a meeting?"

It was an impromptu visit. Byron was supposed to accompany Mia at the art exhibition during these days.

Byron looked up at Athena.

"What happened?"

Athena approached Byron and gently touched his cheek.

"Simon sent an assassin to kill Mia and Aiden, and I wonder why you didn't tell me?" Byron's eyes excluded discontent.

"I didn't mean to. I wanted to wait until you finished the meeting and tell you face to face. What if you directly came back without taking care of your work after knowing it?" Athena explained. Byron frowned.

He said in a hoarse voice, "No, Thea. It shouldn't be like this. I am your husband, Mia and Aiden's father. What work can be more important than that?"

Athena realized that Byron was genuinely annoyed.

"I... I might have gotten used to handling things this way," she explained softly, "I'll pay attention to it in the future, okay?"

"What do you mean by getting used to it?"

Byron frowned as he asked, "This isn't the first or second time. Every time, you shoulder everything by yourself without telling me. If I hadn't discovered it, you wouldn't have mentioned it at all!" He gritted his teeth. "Do you mean you have gotten used to living without me?"
