Raegan, unfazed by Katie's venom, responded with cool defiance: “I wish you well then. May you truly receive what you strive for, without ending up empty-handed.

After his words, Raegan pivoted, leaving a dead silence in her wake.

The smile that had confidently adorned Katie's face instantly crystallized into a mask of fury. "For! “What are you implying?” he demanded, his voice full of indignation.

“Miss Glyn, are you not clear?” Raegan's response came with a kind smile, in stark contrast to Katie's agitation. Haven't you realized that Mitchel's interest lies solely in the influence of the Glyn family?

Katie exhaled deeply, her initial panic subsiding. She had prepared herself for a revelation from Raegan, well aware that Mitchel's affections were not tied to her but to her family's prestige.

However, in Katie's eyes, this distinction carried little weight. Her aspirations to marry Mitchel remained intact, reinforced by her family name. «The Glyn family is under my surname. "Is there really any difference?" he replied with a haughtiness that belied his previous panic.

“There is a big difference,” Raegan replied with a serene smile, without losing her composure. "Ardlens is home to families far more influential than the Glyn line."

With these parting words, Raegan departed, leaving a lasting impression. If Katie didn't understand the meaning, that reflected poorly on her understanding, not Raegan's intentions.

Raegan's decision not to go see Mitchel in person was not due to Katie's deception. It was a deliberate effort to close that chapter, to avoid raising false hopes.

Katie had tried to hurt Raegan with a well-aimed blow, exploiting what she assumed were Raegan's vulnerabilities. However, Raegan's indifference made Katie's attempts futile, reducing her to nothing more than a pitiful figure.

Raegan's determination was clear. He refused to let himself be put down by anyone, including Mitchel.

Katie was left standing after Raegan left, her earlier triumph dissolving into confusion. He had realized it too late, so he had to reflect on the depth of his misunderstanding.

Raegan's words left Katie struggling with the disturbing truth. In fact, there were wealthier families that Mitchel could forge alliances with, diminishing their importance in his strategic plans.

Katie wasn't naive. He had anticipated this possibility and had even considered Luciana as an alternative ally. What really infuriated her, however, was Raegan's apparent indifference to Mitchel's marital prospects.

Katie had devoted years to Mitchel, fully aware of the depth of her affection for Raegan, a love so deep that she would risk everything for her.

However, Raegan seemed completely uninterested in what Katie wanted for herself.

Katie's expression darkened, a mixture of venom and resentment contorting her features. In his eyes, Raegan was not worthy of Mitchel's deep love. Realizing this, she became furious and her thoughts churned with resentment and disdain.

After a moment of bitter reflection, Katie turned on her heel, steeling her resolve. He pushed open the door and the name “Mitchel” escaped his lips in a mixture of hope and determination.

Inside a luxurious hospital room.

As the door opened, Mitchel turned, anticipating someone's arrival. His expression immediately darkened when he saw Katie.

"What's wrong, Mitchel?" Katie approached him, her face marked with concern.

"How did you manage to get in?" Mitchel leaned against the headboard of the bed, with an icy attitude that created an unwelcoming barrier for anyone.

Mitchel looked towards the door, noticing Matteo's absence.

Katie seemed uneasy.

Before he could explain, Mitchel asked, "How did you know I was here?"

His gaze locked on her as if he could see right through her.

Katie got nervous. "I was visiting my father," he hastened to explain. “I ran into Matteo earlier and thought something might have happened to you, so I came running.”

Mitchel remained silent, but Katie, unfazed, sat down next to him.

«Mitchel, what made you faint? Are you OK?"

As he spoke, he reached out to touch Mitchel's forehead.

Mitchel dodged the hand and frowned.

Katie's expression hardened and her eyes filled with tears. "Mitchel, I'm just worried about you."

Mitchel's gaze was unyielding. "Katie, do you ever get tired of this performance?"

Katie turned white as a ghost, confusion written all over her face.

«What are you talking about, Mitchel? I don't understand".

"Katie, I've been clear with you," Mitchel said sternly. «We had agreed to clarify our relationship publicly. "We shouldn't see or talk to each other beyond that."

His tone was icy. "Don't try to fool me with your pretensions, okay?"

Katie, pale, tried to explain: "But Mitchel, I really care."

Mitchel cut her off, without even sparing her a glance: “You should leave now.”

Mitchel's coldness made Katie clench her fists as if she had endured it for a while. He asked, "Mitchel, is your distancing from me because of Raegan?" Are you aware that she has no feelings for you? You are completely indifferent to him... How could he leave you so easily?

Katie was livid. How could Mitchel embarrass her for such a ruthless woman?

Mitchel suddenly asked, “Did Raegan just come?”

Katie, bewildered, denied: "No, I haven't seen it."

Mitchel's indifferent tone followed. "Do you think you're very smart, Katie?"

"Sorry?" Katie raised her head, meeting his piercing gaze. It was a look she had never received from him before.

Instead of feeling appreciated, Katie felt exposed under his scrutinizing eyes, her heart racing. She felt unexpectedly agitated.

Mitchel said coldly, “Do you remember the incident where you falsely claimed to be my fiancée in front of Raegan? We haven't figured it out yet. Don't say nonsense again or you'll only hurt yourself. Repentance would be your only companion.

Katie's complexion drained of color. With tears overflowing, she asked, "Are you threatening me, Mitchel?"
