“Understood.” Conor agreed.
Jarrod then asked, “Any news on Jamie?”
Jamie had disappeared once again. After recovering in the hospital, she had slipped away while the nurses weren't paying attention to her. She assumed that Jarrod had discovered his true identity.
Fearing that Jarrod would not be lenient, she took the opportunity to escape.
Given Jamie's involvement in the incident with Nicole's father, Jarrod needed to track down Jamie to demand an explanation.
Conor replied: “I am still investigating. So far, he has not left Ardlens. “I have checked several checkpoints and there is no trace of him leaving.”
Jarrod agreed. “He's still at it. “He’s bound to have information.”
Conor acknowledged.
Tired, Jarrod said, “You can go now.”
Conor noticed the untouched food next to Jarrod's bed and asked, "Mr. Schultz, are you not satisfied with the cooking? What would you prefer? I can bring it to you."
Jarrod glanced at the food but his appetite was gone. He asked, “What did Nicole buy last night?”
Conor commented, “I think it was congee.” Although he wasn't entirely sure, he recognized the packaging from a reputable congee shop.
“Bring me some,” Jarrod ordered.
Conor was momentarily speechless. His perception of Jarrod as a lover solidified. Sympathy for Jarrod flooded his thoughts. Craving the same congee Nicole refused to provide for Jarrod, Conor replied, “Very well. “Shall I leave immediately?”
As they left the room, Conor vowed to make sure Jarrod received a steaming bowl of hot rice soup. He has decided to do the shopping himself.
Upon his return with the congee, Conor met up with Nicole, who had come to visit Rhett once again.
Conor greeted her: “Miss Lawrence, what a fortuitous encounter. Are you visiting your friend again?”
Nicole agreed. “Indeed.”
Conor considered inviting Nicole to see Jarrod, but yesterday's attempt to appeal to her emotions had failed, necessitating a new strategy.
"Oh, my stomach!" Conor suddenly exclaimed, doubling over and groaning in apparent discomfort.
Conor showed off his acting chops. He did so quite convincingly, even biting his tongue hard enough to make his face pale and sweat drip excessively.
Nicole was taken back for a moment and asked worriedly, “How are you? Should I call a doctor?”
Conor waved his hand at him and said, “No need. I’m going to the bathroom, um…”
He picked up the packet of rice soup and, before Nicole could object, he placed it in her hand.
“Miss Lawrence, please give this to Mr. Schultz. The doctor mentioned that you shouldn't eat anything cold right now, or you might get another infection.” With those words, Conor ran off quickly.
With the congee in her hand, Nicole thought for a while and then decided to take it to Jarrod's VIP floor.
Nicole had intended to hand the congee to a bodyguard instead of entering Jarrod's room, but was shocked to find the entrance to his room unguarded.
