Chapter 1637:

? ? ? ? ?

“Your mother conceived the salon. I merely managed her daily affairs. After her death, consumed by grief, you were unaware of her impending collapse. Recognizing her inability to handle it, I stepped in with the sole intention of helping. How could you misinterpret my actions?”

Hallie's ability to think quickly was truly remarkable. While his inventions might have persuaded others, Jarrod lacked credibility.

The insidious power of men had taught many, but none more so than Hallie. Her current behavior confirmed this undeniable reality.

In the midst of the desire that consumed her, a flash of awareness flashed through her. Doreen was still bound to Jarrod's help, Doreen's escape depended on his support.

With a pang of regret visible on her face, Hallie spoke, “If you want the hall back, I won't object. I assumed you weren't interested, hence my silence. But if it’s what you want, feel free to claim it.”

If Hallie had really intended to give up control of the room, she would not have resorted to such grandiloquent language.

Essentially, his goal was to convey his significant investment in the room while indicating that he would not oppose Jarrod's acquisition. However, this strategy ran the risk of making Jarrod feel ungrateful.

Jarrod's words cut through the air like a sharp blade. “I renounce that detestable hall. And I also severe ties with you and Doreen. I have bestowed upon you both ample generosity over the years, granting you tens of millions. If it weren’t for your insatiable greed, you would be living comfortably right now.”

Hallie's eyes flashed with disbelief; her voice was tinged with fury. “Are you serious?” She retorts, “Are you cutting us off? After years of looking after you, now that you no longer need us, you're throwing Doreen and me away? In exchange for what? For a few bucks? Is your need that desperate?”

Once Jarrod made up his mind, he became impervious to any attempts at persuasion, having grown tired of Hallie's insincere displays of emotion. I called Conor over and barked, "Get this woman out of my sight!"

Then Jarrod's gaze turned steely and he turned to Hallie. "From now on, I refuse to mention Doreen again."

Conor curtly agreed. He hadn't been satisfied with the mother-daughter duo for a while.

Conor had heard it all clearly from the sidelines. Bringing up family ties after he'd gotten so much money out of Jarrod with these plans was absurd. Hallie really excelled at manipulation.

Without the benefits Jarrod had given her, would Hallie still be concerned and offer such supposed help? Wealthy and yet unsatisfied, her greed was beyond words.

Frankly, sometimes certain relatives turned out to be worse than friends.

Conor dragged the screaming Hallie out and handed her over to the bodyguards.

Hallie saw with rage and screamed, “How dare you treat me like this? I am Jarrod's cousin, and that fact is immutable. You will regret this disrespect.”

Conor replied curtly, "Madam, stop calling yourself Mr. Schultz's cousin. Aren't you just a distant relative of his?"

Conor knew Hallie all too well. Using the title of Jarrod's "relative," she tricked many businessmen into making a profit. Frequent meetings with Jarrod made outsiders believe that she was actually his close relative.

However, Hallie's greed eventually caught up with her and now she was facing the repercussions.

You're just a mean-spirited individual who's gotten lucky and looks down on others. When Jarrod calms down, he'll remember the good I've done for him. The first thing he'll do is fire you.
