Chapter 1633:

"Couldn't it be immediate?" The woman seemed eager to leave.
“Don't try to negotiate with me,” Rhett's warning ranged out sternly.
"Very well," the woman agreed.
After the conversation ended, Rhett quickly deleted the call log. He stood by the window, momentarily gazing out at the cityscape before retiring to his bed.
Elsewhere, leaving Rhett's hospital room, Nicole hesitated at the elevator before opting to pay Jarrod's room a visit.
Inside, Jarrod lays on a custom-made bed, his face grave. There were lines on his forehead that suggested restless sleep.
Rarely had Jarrod appeared so weakened. As Nicole stood in the doorway, about to enter, her phone pinged. It was a call from Austin.
“Mom, when are you coming home?” Austin's question was innocent.
Nicole saw that it was almost nine o'clock at night. By agreement, she was only allowed to visit Austin, being forced not to take him beyond the villa, which required her immediate presence.
Nicole's recent visits to Jarrod's estate had become frequent, taking advantage of his absence to avoid awkward encounters.
On the phone, Nicole said, "I'll be there right now."
Jarrod, unprepared, remained oblivious to Nicole's visit.
Upon Nicole's arrival, Austin, now clean, anticipating a story time.
Unfolding the storybook, Austin asked sharply.
"Mom, will it be a brother, a brother or a sister?"
Nicole froze. Austin had never broached this subject before. She had intended to put off the conversation until later in the pregnancy, but he obviously already knew about it.
Putting the storybook aside, Nicole asked, “Austin, who told you about my pregnancy?”
Austin replied, “It was Kamilah. “I was looking forward to seeing you and Kamilah informed me of your pregnancy and warned me not to bother you.”
She probed further: “Mommy, does pregnancy mean there’s another little one in your belly?”
Nicole agreed, “Yes, that means there’s another little one in my tummy.”
“That’s splendid!” Austin exclaimed, his joy evident.
Nicole lovingly squeezed Austin's cheek and explained, "I've been putting off telling you because we traditionally wait three months to ensure a safe and healthy delivery."
Austin replied, “Okay, Mom, this baby is sure to be healthy.”
Nicole smiled. “Do you like the idea, Austin?”
"Yeah, I like it. I've always wanted to have a partner so I don't feel alone," Austin replied.
“Your appreciation warms my heart,” Nicole said, wrapping him in a hug.
Austin firmly stated, “Mom, I will love this baby forever, regardless of whether it is a brother or a sister. Even if I am not here, the brother will keep you company and give me peace of mind.”
