Chapter 1547:
? ? ? ? ?
Roscoe felt around with his hand and, after a brief search, indicated, "We need to cut here."
Such precision normally required a professional doctor. A normal person might find it difficult, but Jarrod, guided by Roscoe's expertise, took a deep breath and prepared to make another cut.
Just then, a moan erupted from Alec. “Ah… Ugh…”
Alec had regained consciousness, his eyes fluttering open to land on Jarrod. “Sir… Damn it! That woman didn't pull you… She pulled her lover… Ah…” His words trailed off as a grimace of pain contorted his face.
Nicole paled at Alec's accusation. She remained silent, knowing it was true: she hadn't helped Jarrod.
Roscoe seemed about to speak, but Nicole squeezed his arm, silencing him before he could defend her.
Alec's words didn't seem to affect Jarrod, who was focused on something else. The pain brought Alec back to his own state. He looked at his bloody, numb arm and asked, "What happened?"
“Your arm has been crushed,” Jarrod replied calmly. “It needs to be amputated.”
Alec fell silent, realizing the gravity of the situation.
His complexion turned ashen, his expression unreadable, as he struggled to come to terms with the loss. The arm in question was his right one, and Alec was not left-handed.
The prospect of a future without his dominant arm was daunting.
Amid Alec's silence, Jarrod spoke again: "There's no anesthesia here. You'll have to put up with it."
Jarrod's tone was firm, almost cold, but those who knew him understood. It wasn't indifference; it was a display of concern, a focus on making sure Alec survived this order.
“Okay,” Alec replied, his voice firm. He knew that any hesitation would only increase the risk. But deep inside, Alec was fighting a deep fear.
If he lost his arm, he would rather die. For him, being disabled was an unacceptable fate.
But he also felt that he owed his life to Jarrod, and since Jarrod hadn't given up on him, he couldn't give up on him either. "Please proceed."
Jarrod handed Alec a quick-drying towel to bite down on in pain and then carefully located the spot Roscoe had indicated earlier.
After adjusting the position, Jarrod looked at Roscoe for final confirmation. As the only medical expert present, Roscoe's approval was crucial.
Roscoe checked the spot again, touched it once more, and approved in approval.
Jarrod, known for his extraordinary courage, kept his composure even in such dire circumstances. He made a precise incision in Alec's arm.
Alec's expression twisted in agony, sweat building up on his forehead and his face losing color until it turned ashen.
Despite the unbearable pain, he remained stoically silent, enduring the order without making a sound.
Jarrod acted without unnecessary sentimentality. Decisive and quick, he cut off Alec's arm with the precision of a man who knew there was no room for error.
"Ah!" Alec couldn't help but gasp as his right arm was cut off.
His face was soaked, blurred by sweat or tears. From that moment on, he knew he would never be whole again.
