Chapter 1298:
? ? ? ? ?
Then she turned around and walked inside. She knew her words might leave Roscoe with a bad impression of her.
Since he had forgotten about her and their shared past, his opinion of her didn't matter much. If he stayed out of his affairs, he would have a better life.
Nicole did this on purpose so that Roscoe would misunderstand her. It was better for him not to remember her all the time. It was the last kindness she could offer him.
Watching Nicole's retreating figure, Roscoe remained silent.
He didn't understand why she worked here. It didn't seem like a place for someone like Nicole. However, he didn't know Nicole's reasons for being here and thought it wise not to make assumptions.
His eyes scanned her slender figure. She was very thin. But she was tall and determined, she seemed unbeatable.
Roscoe's expression turned grim. It seemed like every time he saw her, the emptiness in his heart felt a little less empty. He didn't understand why, but he couldn't shake the feeling either.
Roscoe watched her enter through the golden gate before starting the car and driving away.
When Nicole walked in, the receptionist asked her who she was looking for.
The receptionist recognized Nicole when she introduced herself and made a quick phone call. Shortly after, an older woman, known as Jemma, came out to greet Nicole. “Are you Nicole Lawrence?” she asked.
Nicole agreed.
With a cigarette dangling from her lips, Jemma sized Nicole up and said, “Come with me.”
Jemma led Nicole into what looked like a dressing room and then ordered someone to do Nicole's makeup.
After Nicole's makeup was done, Jemma had someone bring her some different clothes. When Nicole saw the clothes revealing, she blushed and asked hesitantly, "Can't I wear these?"
The outfit was barely a dress. It was just scraps of fabric sewn together that barely covered anything.
Jemma scoffed: “You're here to work, not to shop. “Wear what you’re told.”
Nicole calmed down and asked politely, “How should I address you?”
Noticing Nicole's respectful tone, Jemma softened a little and said, "Just call me Jemma."
“Jemma, I understand that you want me to help you make money, but this dress will only make me look cheap and will not bring in any profits. If I wear something that fits me better, I promise it will be more profitable for you.”
Nicole understood that these people cared about money, so being pitiful wouldn't help. Maybe if she talked through the pros and cons with Jemma, she could convince her.
Nicole persisted, refusing to give up even in a difficult situation. She was determined to find a way out.
Jemma frowned and studied Nicole. Although Nicole was attractive, she was not flashy. This dress, however, would diminish Nicole's natural elegance.
After a moment, Jemma made up her mind and said, “Pick something out yourself. The clothes are over there.”
Nicole looked through the options but didn't find anything that appealed to her. Finally, she settled on a shirt and short skirt that looked like a s@xy uniform. Although it was tempting, it luckily wasn't too revealing.
Jemma examined Nicole closely and said, “You’re not the youngest, but you have potential.”
