Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1518: I Don't Blame You
The family rushed to the hospital when they learned that Paulina had been in a car accident.
Mrs. Gloria's tears immediately fell when she saw Paulina in the hospital bed, "She was fine when we left home, how... how..." Mrs. Gloria turned her head to the side, covered her mouth and moaned.
Mr. Juan stepped on her and gently patted her back.
"Brother, have you found the driver who caused the accident?" asked Alvaro.
"And what did the police say?" asked Alvaro again.
"It's a black car, it's harder to find out."
At the mention of this, Marcos' gaze twitched. "But Alfredo is also investigating and should have something soon."
"Mom, why don't you and Dad go home first and come back when your sister-in-law wakes up." said Alvaro.
Mrs. Gloria shook her head, "No, I'm going to wait here for Paulina to wake up as well."
In reality, Alvaro was trying to throw his parents off the scent, since it was clear from his brother's words that this was not a simple traffic accident.
Desperate, he had to call his brother outside.
"Brother, I take it this car accident wasn't an accident?"
Marcos' thin lips were tightly pursed and he didn't answer.
Alvaro knew he was acquiescing and his brow furrowed fiercely. "Juanetta causing trouble in the first place, then her sister-in-law's car accident, how did it all come together?" "Maybe it's not a coincidence."
Alvaro froze, "Could... the two events be connected somehow?"
"At the moment it's just a suspicion." Marcos said, "We'll have to wait for Alfredo's conclusions."
"When we find out who tried to hurt my sister-in-law, I'll be the first to let it out!" said Alvaro through gritted teeth.
Later in the evening, Alfredo entered the room in a hurry.
"Prince, I have to inform you of something."
Marcos looked at Mrs. Gloria, who was sitting on the couch, and got up to leave with Alfredo.
"Do you have the results?" asked Marcos.
"The car accident is still pending, but I found out that Paulina went to see Bergerian before the accident."
"Bergerian?!" The pupils of Marcos' eyes fluttered, and instantly a terrible thought flashed through his mind. "Paulina and Bergerian met at a coffee shop, less than ten minutes back and forth, and Paulina left." Mark could not find peace in his mind.
After what had happened, he had been suspicious of the Rawlins and the others, but not of anyone far away.
When had Bergerian arrived in J-town, and how had there been no news?
Seeing Mark's face, Alfred cautiously voiced his suspicions, "Prince, I suspect the accident had something to do with Bergerian. After all, he has already tried to capture Paulina for human experiments." With Bergerian's paranoid personality, it was very likely that he wanted to destroy what he couldn't have.
Marcos' eyes narrowed with a stern look and his thin lips parted, "Check Bergerian's whereabouts, as fast as you can."
"Yes." Alfredo took his orders and hurried back.
Marcos remained in the same place, his handsome face covered with sadness.
If the accident was really Bergerian's doing, things had become much more difficult.
At that moment, Mrs. Gloria's surprised voice came from the living room, "Marcos, Paulina is awake!".
Marcos hurried to gather his thoughts and turned to enter the room.
Paulina opened her eyes in the hospital bed and sketched a weak smile as she saw Mrs. Gloria and Marcos, "Mom, Marcos."
Her voice was a little dry and hoarse.
"You finally woke up, you scared me to death." Mrs. Gloria's eyes were red.
Paulina's nose couldn't help but sink and her eyes misted with water, "Mom, I'm sorry I worried you."
"It's good to be awake, it's good to be awake." Mrs. Gloria wiped her tears and said, "I'm going to get the doctor, Marcos stay with Paulina and talk."
After Mrs. Gloria left, Marcos walked over to the bed, took Paulina's hand and looked at her lovingly.
"Is something wrong with you?" asked Marcos.
"My head still hurts a little." Paulina remembered what had happened before she passed out.
As the car hit her, the faces of Marcos, her children and her family flashed through her mind and she was very afraid that she would never see them again.
At the thought of this, the fear of hindsight came over her and she burst into tears.
It was hard to see her cry and Mark's heart felt like a big stone was weighing on him.
He held her tightly with one hand and gently wiped away her tears with the other, in a soft, soothing voice, "I'm here, don't be afraid."
Paulina cried like a little girl, tears gushing down.
Mrs. Gloria came in with the doctor and saw her crying and once again her eyes were red.
"Silly girl, don't cry, it's not good for your health if you cry too much."
The doctor also came clean, "Yes, crying too much is not good for your body's recovery."
With the people outside around, Paulina felt too embarrassed to cry again, she stopped her tears and forced a smile, "I'm fine."
When her emotions calmed down, the doctor came over to examine her.
"All vitals are normal, but there is still some pain and dizziness in the head, these are the after-effects of the concussion, recover a few more days and you should be fine." The doctor gave a few more notes before leaving.
Mrs. Gloria talked to Paulina for a few minutes and then went home to prepare some soup for Paulina's health.
As Ms. Gloria left, Paulina's little voice rang out in the living room, "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you and stayed home."
"I don't blame you." Marcos reached over and smoothed the strands of hair on her cheeks behind her ears.
Paulina pursed her lips, "When I'm better, I'll be good enough to stay home and not run around."
Marcos let out a soft "hmm" and said nothing more.
Paulina was still very tired from the injuries and the beating she had received, and soon fell back into a deep sleep. Marcos sat on the edge of the bed, holding her hand, keeping her company in silence.
As night fell, Alfredo headed back to the hospital.
"Prince, Bergerian's place has been found."
Marcos' eyes sharpened as he noticed the bruise on his face, and his sword frowned, "What happened to your face?"
Alfredo reached up and touched the wound, "We had a fight with Bergerian's men and both sides got hurt, but I'm fine like this." Marcos grimaced, "And Bergerian?"
"He's fine."
"Does he know who you are?"
"Not yet, but we'll know soon enough."
Marcos scoffed, "He better not have anything to do with the accident or I won't let him off the hook."
Meanwhile, Bergerian scolded his men angrily, "Are you all losers, just a few men and you can't even handle them?"
The men ducked their heads, not daring to utter a word.
At that moment, Carl rushed over and whispered something in her ear.
Only to see her avert her gaze and a name spit coldly from her lips, "Mark."
