Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1517: Is it a black car?

Leaving the coffee shop, Paulina sped away.

She gripped the steering wheel tightly, a thin layer of cold frost covering her small, clear face.

She was really too naive to believe the words of a man who was like a demon.

The thought of being lied to irritated her, and she stepped on the accelerator as the car sped down the road.

Ahead of her was a red light, so she slowly eased off the accelerator and steered the car into the right-hand lane.

As the light turned green and she turned right, a black car ran the light and came straight at her.

Paulina was startled and unconsciously swerved to avoid the car.

But she was too late.

Bang...

The sound of a loud crash echoed across the road.

Paulina's car overturned and she felt her whole body spinning, the pain hit her and her consciousness faded into total darkness. The black car made a U-turn and fled the scene.

Mark's right eyelid fluttered suddenly and he dropped the papers in his hand, looking up and rubbing his eyelid.

"Prince, are you not feeling well?" Alfredo saw him and asked with concern.

"The eyelid is throbbing, it's nothing." Marcos dropped his hand and turned his attention back to the paper.

Alfredo frowned and muttered in a whisper, "Fortune jumps out of the left eye, disaster jumps out of the right."

Marcos heard him and looked up, staring at him coldly, "Superstition!".

"Yes, it's superstition." Alfredo smiled shyly, "It's just that you don't sleep well."

"Get ready for the meeting."

Marcos got up and headed for the exit, when the phone in his hand suddenly rang.

It was an unknown number.

When he picked it up, a strange female voice rang on the receiver, "Hello, is this the family of the person on the phone? She has been in a car accident and is being resuscitated at our hospital." Alfredo walked over just in time to see Mark's face instantly turn extremely ugly and he was about to ask a question, only to see her hang up the phone, raise her legs and run out the door. "Prince!" Alfredo hurried after him.

Along the way, Marcos drove the car so fast that Alfredo, who was sitting in the passenger seat, gripped the handle so tightly that he feared that if he let go, his whole body would fly off. When the car stopped at the hospital, Marcos quickly got out and ran to the resuscitation room.

A sound of footsteps sounded in the hallway and Marcos ran to the door of the resuscitation room, feeling his heart being squeezed so hard he couldn't breathe when he saw the operating lights still illuminated. "Paulina," he said, clenching the hands that had fallen to his side, his eyes fixed on the operating room door.

Alfredo approached, worried too, but reassuring, "Don't worry Prince, Paulina will be fine."

The truth was that there were already people in the operating room, how could she be fine?

Just... how come Paulina had a car accident for a good reason?

After about thirty minutes or so, the door to the operating room opened and the doctor came out.

Marcos ran to meet him and asked urgently, "Doctor, how is my wife?".

The doctor took off his mask: "She has hit her head, she has lost a lot of blood and has a more serious concussion, she has to be hospitalized for a few days for observation".

At those words, a dull ache ran through Marcos' heart, his Paulina.

"And when will we be able to see her?" asked Alfredo aloud.

"They'll send her to the ward later."

"Thank you doctor." Alfredo thanked the doctor and then turned his head back to Marcos.

Marcos' face was even harder to see, even a little pale.

Seeing this, Alfredo felt bad inside and didn't know how to comfort him.

Paulina was taken to the living room, where she was lying on her bed, with her eyes closed and the smile that always adorned Dulce's face.

She was pale as paper, wearing an oxygen mask, and her breathing was so shallow that, but for the sound of the monitor, one might have mistaken her for dead.

"Paulina," Marcos said as he sat on the edge of the bed, his hands clenching her small, cold ones, his eyes red with pain.

When he left the house this morning, he had told her with a smile on his face, "I'll be waiting for you when you get home from work early tonight."

But now she was lying motionless.

For a moment, Mark thought he was having a nightmare.

But the pain in his heart was so clear and so deep.

It was not a dream.

At that moment, two policemen came in behind Alfredo.

"The prince!" He called cautiously.

At the sound of the voice, Marcos gathered all his thoughts and turned his head, his heatless gaze looking at Alfredo and the others.

"Prince, they've come to ask about Paulina."

Marcos stood up and walked over.

The policeman looked at Paulina on the bed and said, "We are in charge of the investigation of this traffic accident, so please tell us everything you know." "Okay."

Marcos walked with the two policemen to a nearby couch and sat down.

"We checked the security camera video, your wife was making a normal right turn and the car that hit her ran a red light, the other party has to take full responsibility." "Did they find the other guy?" asked Marcos.

The policeman shook his head, "Not yet."

"As soon as the perpetrator hit your wife's car, he immediately fled the scene, and the license plate was run through his number, which was false."

Hearing this, Marcos made an astonished face, "Was it a black car?".

"Hmm. But don't worry Mr. Ken, we will find the vehicle and its owner as soon as possible."

The two parties talked about the accident for a while longer before the two policemen left.

Marcos sat on the couch, looking thoughtful.

"What are you thinking about, Prince?" asked Alfredo aloud.

Marcos raised his eyes, "You just heard, on the other side is a black car, is it possible that the murder was deliberate?"

"Do you suspect a motive?"

Marcos narrowed his eyes, his gaze was cold, "Paulina had a car accident and ran a red light and it was a black car, is it pure coincidence?"

Alfredo nodded, "And with the Juanetta thing still pending, could there be a connection?"

"Check!" Marcos' face was tense and his eyes were dark and frightening, "Get to the bottom of this!"

"Yes." Alfredo bowed his head respectfully, "I'll look into it immediately."

Alfredo left hurriedly and Mark sat on the couch for a while before getting up and making his way to the hospital bed and sitting down, clutching Paulina's cold hand again, with nothing but heartache and a strong sense of self-recrimination in his eyes.
