Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1318: How dare you lie to me.
The soup had spilled.
Even though Earlene sensed something was wrong, she could only say, "It's okay, I'll pour it again."
Mark got up and went to the bathroom, putting his burned wrist under the faucet to rinse.
The cold water soothed the burning of the wound.
But his face was cold and sullen.
"Marcos, I'll get you a Band-Aid."
Earlene called outside and came out.
Marcos turned off the faucet, grabbed a towel to the side and wiped his hands, his eyes fell on his burning red wrist, his eyes as deep as a dark pool, unable to read his mind at this moment. Earlene told the maid to clean the room and dragged Mark into the study herself.
"It's all red." Earlene was distressed to see her burned wrist.
She hurried to get out the burn cream and rubbed it gently over the wound.
MarkBonnie was quiet and said nothing.
After rubbing in the ointment, Earlene looked up and saw him staring and couldn't help but smile, "Marcos, what are you thinking?"
Marcos looked up, sword eyebrows slightly furrowed, "How did I... this burn?"
"Just..." Earlene was about to answer when she suddenly sensed something was wrong and hurried to ask timidly, "Don't you remember what just happened?"
"What just happened?" asked Marcos instead of answering.
Earlene frowned, "Paulina ..."
She mentioned the name deliberately, her eyes boring into his face.
But he seemed unperturbed, as if he hadn't heard her.
"Do you know Paulina?" asked Earlene shyly.
Marcos frowned, "Paulina?"
He thought hard and then shook his head, "No. But the name does ring a bell."
Hearing that, Earlene smiled.
The medicine had finally taken effect.
"Forget it if you don't know it." Earlene felt like a stone had finally been removed from her heart, and her whole body felt much lighter.
She was finally over Paulina, and that gave her peace of mind.
"Don't touch the wound with water, okay?" warned Earlene.
Marcos nodded, "Got it."
Earlene sent him to his room to rest and returned to her room.
She called out to the nominal father, who was far away.
"Earlene, why did you remember to call me?" A mellifluous voice came from the other end of the phone.
Earlene curved her lips and said in a relaxed tone, "Nominal father, I'm taking Marcos back to Singapore."
On the other end of the line, she asked, "Has everything been taken care of?"
"Well, it's settled."
"Go back then, I'll have someone pick you up at the airport when you arrive." "Good."
Earlene hung up the phone, the corners of her mouth turned up uncontrollably.
As long as she took Marcos out of the country, away from Paulina, away from the people of The Leoz Family, she didn't think he would regain his memory.
...
Rawlins was surprised to learn that Earlene was leaving.
"Why are you going there again for a reason?" asked Rawlins.
"Do I need a reason to come back if I want to?" asked Earlene coldly in turn.
"No. Are you going abroad before Grandma's health has recovered?" Rawlins couldn't understand what she was doing.
"Didn't Grandma promise to have the operation? And I've asked the doctor, the operation has a high success rate, she'll be fine."
That's why he had decided to take Marcos with him..
"But Grandma agreed to have the operation only if you stay with her." Rawlins' heart didn't want him to leave the country and he wanted to use the old woman as a reason for him to stay. Earlene gave him a weak look, "Don't you have you? I'm leaving the country and the Bartram family is all yours."
At that, Rawlins felt amused and wanting more, "Do you think I want everything the Bartram family has?".
Earlene didn't answer.
Rawlins took a deep breath, "If you ask me now, I will immediately stop being president and give you the company in its entirety."
As far as he was concerned, she had never been the only one he cared about.
"That's not necessary." Earlene said, "You're still running the company, and the Bartram family will be your problem from now on." The implication was that she would not be running the Bartram family in the future.
Rawlins laughed, a bitter laugh, "Is it worth it for a Marcos?"
"Of course it's worth it. Anything I do for him is worth it." Earlene smiled in front of him in a rare moment.
Her smile was blossoming for someone else.
Rawlins only felt a dull ache in his heart.
Was she really going to leave him this time?
Earlene told Marcos to leave the country, and Marcos agreed without a word.
So Earlene started packing and booked her flight.
That morning, the chauffeur drove Earlene and Marcos to the airport.
Earlene was so excited about her future with Marcos that she was in a great mood the whole way.
When they were almost at the airport, the car suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Earlene looked at the driver confused.
The driver looked straight ahead without moving a muscle. Earlene frowned and barked sternly, "What's wrong? Drive already." He still didn't move.
Just then, Mark suddenly spoke up, "He won't worry about you."
Hearing that, Earlene turned her head and, although he still looked fainted, he felt a little different.
"Marcos, what are you talking about?" Earlene didn't understand what he meant.
Marcos' lips curved into a cold smile, "Leaving the country, no way."
"What do you mean?" Earlene reacted sharply to what was happening to him and her eyebrows narrowed, "You haven't lost your memory?" Marcos didn't answer.
"You lied to me!" Earlene let out a laugh, "I can't believe you lied to me!".
"Paulina had told me that you had drugged me and that's why I had lost my memory. I wasn't sure until I heard you talking on the phone the other day."
Marcos' words surprised Earlene, she had heard everything!
"Marcos, let me explain, actually..."
"You don't need to say anything." Marcos interrupted her coldly, his eyes narrowed with a hint of harshness, "You don't have the right to decide if I want to remember the past or not. I hate people controlling me, not even you!". Earlene calmed down and asked, "Then what do you want to do?"
"I'm not going out of the country with you. And you can't go back to the Bartram family either."
Earlene raised an eyebrow, "You want to kidnap me?".
Seeing Mark's silence, Earlene burst out laughing, "The Bartram family won't take kindly to me disappearing. And I still have them."
She looked out of the car and there were several cars parked next to it.
They were the ones the nominal father had prepared for her.
Mark saw them too and snorted coldly, "You underestimate me."
Hearing those words, Earlene had a bad feeling.
Before she could think about it, the car door suddenly opened from outside and a hand reached in and pulled her out of the car. "What are you doing?" Earlene glared angrily at the subordinate who was supposed to protect her.
