Let Me Love You Again -
Chapter 116
Maya
I started coughing nonstop and Axel looked at me and then pat me on the head.
“Mama no bad, mama good,” he said in all seriousness.
Nate came over and placed a glass of water in front of me, I grabbed him and started drinking while Axel put his hand under it to lift him better.
“Why would he fire you?” I asked once she calmed down.
“Because I dropped the case and left,” he said, scratching his head.
“What did you do?!” I shouted, making Axel jump with fear.
“I didn’t quit in the middle of everything. I had to put the last signatures to close permanently, usually who signs takes the credit and I decided not to sign because I wanted to go home,” he said shrugging.
“Is it serious?” I asked, not understanding.
“Yes, if your father wants his name on such an important cause,” he said.
“If you knew it was so important to him why didn’t you stay? It was just a few more days,” I said, my arms crossed across the table.
“If he wanted his name so badly then he should have gone and not sent me knowing the time I was going through.”
“It was just a few days, love, after all the effort you made to close it you deserved to have your name in that case,” I said shaking my head.
“I don’t give a s**t about any case, the only thing I care about is you guys and I’ve been gone too long,” he said, starting to spoon in the pot.
“s**t,” Axel repeated, my head snapped at him.
“You don’t say it, Axel,” I admonished him.
“Daddy says s**t and Axel says s**t,” he said, frowning.
“Axel can’t say that word, is forbidden,” I said again.
Axel turned to his father and looked at him, he shrugged, then Axel turned to me and looked at me, his eyes full of challenge.
“s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t,” he started chanting.
I watched him upset, God would have driven me crazy sooner or later.
“Axel” Nate warned him and he immediately stopped singing and looked at his father with pleading eyes, “No, you don’t say it,” Nate said.
Axel sighed defeated and crossed his arms to his chest.
I sighed and went back to watch Nate while he put the pasta in the boiling water.
“You should call your father,” I said.
“Granpa!” Axel said cheerfully.
Nate sighed, “Not today, today I want to be alone with you, I don’t want anyone to get in the way and burst my bubble,” he said.
“Write to him that you will call him tomorrow, please, do it for me”.
Nate sighed “Give me the phone”
I immediately stretched it out and he took it and then wrote a message.
“Happy?”
“Extremely” I answered and looked back at him as he cooked me.
*****
Nate was putting Axel to bed, who hadn’t left him for a second. Axel was becoming more and more attached to Nate, imitating him, following him, and sometimes speaking like him, and I was fully certain that he had suffered much from this forced remoteness. He had proved it in every way that he had done,
Even though I tried to explain to him that Nate was away on business and that he was coming back soon, Axel didn’t accept it, on the contrary.
He had decided to do everything he could to prevent the aforementioned work from taking him away from him again. That’s why he tried to cook his shirts and threw away all his suits. I was sure Axel would think that that way, without all his work supplies, Nate would never leave and stay home with him.
Poor my little one, still suffered for having detached from us for days and, even if it was quieter, I saw that sometimes he had obsessions and small tics. Like when at least after a bunch of hours I had to call Nate and he had to talk to him absolutely otherwise he would go crazy, or like when he had to know for sure where I was so he could always keep an eye on me.
I was just hoping it wouldn’t get worse over time, and it wouldn’t show OCD, but I had my doubts.
I sighed as I looked up at the ceiling and caressed my belly.
Nate and Axel had taken a bath together and spent at least an hour in the tub. After emptying it, Nate came to me with his frowning forehead and told me that Axel had put his toys back in the exact order he had found them before taking a bath. It was normal, he did it every time and every day he had a predefined object for washing, he used them in rotation and put them back in their exact place.
Although in some things he was not so obsessive, Axel was very careful to have everything under control, if he had not had him would begin to panic and anxiety and begin to do the devil to four, as had happened in the last month with the absence of Nate.
Not being able to have him around and know that he was okay, Axel took out his frustration at the constant mischief that made me crazy.
I picked up the phone and noticed some messages from Jess.
Is Nate home? Dad’s pretty pissed off. She wrote to me.
Yes. I answered her back.
I hope for him he’s got a lot of spare underwear ’cause Dad’s gonna make him s**t in his pants.
Don’t be mean to him, he’s already down on his own.
Stop trying to defend him.
I rolled my eyes and I could hear the door closing, so I looked up and noticed Nate undressing.
“He got worse,” he said as he took off his shirt.
Sigh “I know, but it’s not so bad sometimes, he just has to follow his routine and be cool”
“He can’t follow the same routine every day. He has a year, he can’t plan his life right now.”
“I know, but for now let him calm down, things like that will not be solved overnight”
Nate came onto the bed and approached me, lying partially on me and trying not to weigh on the belly. I surrounded his neck with my arms and looked at him with my eyes.
“What did I remind you of today?” she asked me maliciously as she stroked me with one hand at the top of her thighs and let a g***n escape.
