Chapter 924 Don't You Love Me and Mom?

On the way back, Lucas sat in the back seat of the car and suddenly became silent, contrary to his reaction when he saw Huston.

At first, Evelyn thought that he was not feeling well on the plane, but she gradually realized that the child was not feeling unwell, but was feeling conflicted. It was obvious that this emotion was not directed at her but at Huston.

There was some silence in the car. Occasionally, when Huston started a conversation, Lucas had no intention of continuing.

Suddenly, Huston was at a loss. He did not know how to please his son. After thinking for a moment, he ordered the driver to drive to the largest amusement park in Jewel City.

Evelyn understood what he meant and sent a message to Lucy, saying that she would go to the hospital after dinner.

An hour later, the car stopped in front of a restaurant in the amusement park. The waiter parked the car, and then Evelyn and Lucas led Lucas straight to the glass revolving restaurant on the top floor.

The manager personally led them to a place with the best view. From here, they could almost see the whole amusement park, especially the fireworks performance at night. The fairy tale world was outlined by the lights.

No child would dislike this place, and Lucas was no exception. However, he only glanced at it a few times before forcing himself to look away. His pretentious appearance made Evelyn want to laugh. But in the end, she didn't laugh. The child was angry now, so she had to give him some face.

After ordering, Evelyn looked at the two of them who had almost no communication, and pretended to use the restroom to leave the space for them to spend time alone.

Huston took a sip of water and found a topic to talk about. "Have you gotten used to school in the past six months? I heard that your grades in the final exams were not bad. All of them were As?" Lucas pouted and reluctantly replied, "Mathematics and Language are A+."

"Not bad." Huston nodded in satisfaction. "It's about the same level as Dad's back then."

Lucas didn't reply. He looked around and deliberately avoided eye contact with him. Seeing that the atmosphere had turned cold again, Huston continued to ask, "Why aren't you talking? Are you unhappy that Dad is back?"

After all, he was a parent. As soon as he showed his seniority, Lucas was a little scared. He pursed his lips and lowered his head to look at the plates on the table. His appearance was the same as Huston's. After a long while, he said softly, "You promised to pick me up, but after so long, you broke your promise!"

When he saw his father at the gate of the airport today, Lucas was extremely happy and excited. However, after hugging him and watching Bert leave, he became a little sensitive. He was not angry, but lonely. The child did not know how to express it, so he could only hold it back and did not want to talk more.

After asking for a long time, he finally told the truth. Huston heaved a sigh of relief and leaned forward against the back of the chair. "Dad didn't go back on my word. I wanted to come back and find you and Mom, but I was delayed."

Lucas was dissatisfied with this answer. His soft voice was filled with grievance. "What's more important than me and Mom?"

Huston tilted his head and thought for a moment. In the end, he decided to reveal a little. "Dad fell ill when I was coming back. The doctor said that I couldn't come back until I recovered. Dad has always been thinking about you and Mom."

After saying this, Lucas was finally willing to let down his guard with his dark eyes. "Are you sick?"
