Lila rushed to the living room after hearing the cough.

“Are you still not feeling well, Miss Bennet? I heard you cough.

Did you catch a cold?”

With the dryness and itchiness of her throat, Rachel could confirm Lila’s question.

But seeing the latter’s worried look, she said dismissively, “It must have been the heater.

Don’t worry.

I’ll feel better after drinking some water.”

“I’m sorry to intervene, Miss Bennet, but you look pale,” the assistant said, unable to hold his concern.

“Do you want me to take you to the hospital before we take off to Mr.

Gibson’s place?”

“No, there’s no need.

I’m fine.” Rachel shook her head.

“Just get me a glass of water, Lila, please.”

Lila nodded and immediately did as she was told.

In less than a minute, she returned to the living with the glass of water and watched Rachel drink it to the last drop.

Rachel couldn’t help but smile at her nervous gaze.

“I’m okay, Lila.

It’s just a sore throat.”

“That’s a relief.”

“I’l be away for a while today.

I might just eat out, so you don’t have to make dinner later.

You can go home after you’re done here.”

Since Rachel had yet to know Alberto’s next move, she expected the meeting to drag on until later in the day, so she had to inform Lila of the change in her schedule.

Lila already had an inkling of it because someone specially came to pick Rachel up in the early morning.

“Okay.”

After exchanging a few words with the assistant, Rachel went upstairs to pack her stuff.

It didn’t take long before she was downstairs again, carrying a small carry-on bag with her laptop, a few work documents and files for the project, which she had downloaded from the Gibson family’s website beforehand.

Seeing her descending from the stairs, the assistant hurriedly walked up to help her carry her things.

There was a look of brief confusion in his eyes as he scanned the small carry-on bag.

“Is this the only thing you’re bringing with you?”

“Yeah.”

“Are you sure? You might want to pack some more…” The assistant wondered why Rachel didn’t pack up her clothes.

However, he bit back his words.

He didn’t know what to say when Rachel looked at him in confusion.
