Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1674
“Burnt? Really? Whoa.” Quintin’s reply reflected his surprise at the new information.
All these years, people had assumed the disfigurement of Alberto’s face was a cut scar from his kidnapper.
Rachel’s eyes remained on the screen, but her mind was already wandering, thinking about what really happened to Alberto during that time.
In most kidnapping cases, knives or anything sharp was the most common weapon the kidnappers used to terrorize and harm their victims.
So, most people assumed that Alberto’s kidnapper had scarred his face with a knife when he fought back and tried to escape.
Alberto’s unmasked face suddenly flashed in Rachel’s mind.
Half of his face was burnt, and the ferocious scars were horrifying.
When she first saw his face, Rachel was caught off guard but immediately regained composure.
At that moment, she finally understood why Alberto had to wear a mask.
The burn looked atrocious.
Even she, who was used to seeing unsettling images in the Red Hackers, was startled by the sight of it.
Alberto probably didn’t want other people to give him strange looks or horrified expressions whenever they saw his face, so he wore a mask in public.
Rachel let out a sigh, which slowly progressed into a yawn.
Perhaps it was because of exhaustion, but her eyes suddenly felt heavy, and she was fast asleep.
Alberto’s fever didn’t go down until the following day.
The doctor monitored his condition all night and only relaxed when his temperature dropped by morning.
He turned to Mason beside him and announced, “His fever has gone down.
He’s fine now.”
Mason nodded and looked at Alberto, sleeping soundly in the bed and looking much better than last night.
“That’s good.”
The doctor’s expression then turned serious.
“I have to be honest with you.
Alberto’s physical condition isn’t good.
He should return to Switzerland and get the treatment he needs before his condition worsens.
He could only go so far in this physical state.
He was lucky that his body held out.
If he continues to strain himself, he might collapse.”
Mason sighed.
“Let’s talk outside.”
He turned around with his cane and led the way to the door, the doctor following behind him.
Once outside, Mason faced the doctor with a serious expression and said, “Do you think I don’t know all that you just said? Do you think Alberto’s grandfather doesn’t know about his condition? We know, but Alberto has always been headstrong.
Even his grandfather couldn’t change his mind when he insisted on returning to the Sullivan family in Apliaria back then.”
“I still can’t understand why the Sullivan family had to treat Alberto that way.
He was too kind to them,” the doctor said indignantly.
Although vaguely, he had heard about what happened to Alberto in the hands of the Sullivan family when he was younger.
“Alberto’s grandfather wanted to train him to be the successor of the Gibson family, but the latter insisted on returning back to the Sullivans.” Mason turned around and looked at the closed door of Alberto’s room before continuing, “Alberto’s grandfather was so enraged that he made HIM kneel for three days.
But in those three days, he didn’t complain even once.
That angered his grandfather more, to the point that he went up and asked him why he was adamant about going back to the Sullivan family when they didn’t treat him well and even wanted him dead.
If it weren’t for his relationship and connection with the Sullivan family, Alberto’s grandfather would have destroyed them because of what they did to Alberto.
Despite that, do you know what Alberto told his grandfather?”
The doctor’s brows furrowed in curiosity.
“What did he say?”
