Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1656
Her gut feeling suggested Alberto would be there.
Without realizing it, Rachel hastened her steps and arrived at the entrance of the side building.
The door was slightly open, allowing her to catch a glimpse of the grand interior through the gap.
Pushing the door open, she ventured into the threshold and proceeded inside.
Walking through the small garden in front of the courtyard, Rachel saw a three-story house.
As she approached it, a distinct aroma of herbs wafted out from within.
Rachel stepped inside the house, the aroma of the herbs wafting around so strongly that it induced a bitter taste in her throat.
“Mr.
Gibson?” The living room was dimly lit, with only one lamp providing light.
“Ahem… Ahem…” Feeble coughs echoing from the sofa stopped Rachel’s steps.
Following the sound, Rachel entered the living room and found Alberto seated in a wheelchair, experiencing continuous bouts of coughing.
Beside the wheelchair, there was a bowl of potion on the table, emitting the distinct aroma that filled the room.
“Are you alright?” Rachel moved closer, observing Alberto’s lips.
They seemed to have lost more of their natural color.
She cast a brief glance at the medicine on the floor, her brows furrowing in slight surprise.
It was unexpected that he would be taking potion.
“Get out.” His voice came out raspy.
Rachel remained silent upon hearing his command.
She simply turned, walked over to the coffee table to grab some tissues, and proceeded to clean up the spilled potion.
She blotted the liquid with the tissues and gathered the pieces of the broken bowl.
“Don’t you understand what just I said?” Alberto stared at her, his voice was cold.
It appeared as if Rachel’s disobedience had irked him.
Rachel tossed the used tissues into the trash can.
As she heard his question, her gaze met his.
His face remained hidden behind the mask, concealing any emotions he might be feeling.
At that moment, Rachel found herself lost in thoughts.
A strange feeling washed over her—the man in front of her seemed not to be Alberto, but another person, one who was no longer a part of her life.
“Why are you staring at me like that?” Alberto’s icy tone snapped Rachel out of her thoughts.
Rachel hesitated for a moment, attempting to subdue the turmoil of thoughts swirling in her mind.
Her lips curved into a smirk as she responded nonchalantly, “You just remind me of someone I used to know.”
“Remind you of whom?”
Surveying the room, Rachel spotted the light switch.
As she strolled over, she answered, “My ex-husband.”
As soon as those words left her mouth, the lights in the Living room were turned on all of a sudden, instantly brightening up the room.
