Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1655
Rachel finished it in one go.
Setting two bowls of steaming noodles on the table, she decided to call Alberto to the meal and headed downstairs.
But on the first floor, he was nowhere to be found.
The dimly lit area appeared empty.
“Where could he be?” She frowned.
He was the one who had requested the meal, but at the point it was ready, he disappeared.
Rachel couldn’t help but wonder if Alberto was playing a prank on her.
She was exhausted from the day’s events, and her patience was wearing thin.
Rachel took a deep breath, turned on her heels, and headed to the staircase.
She decided that regardless of whether Alberto wanted to join her for a meal or not, she needed to eat.
She had fulfilled her responsibilities, and after finishing her meal, she would leave a note and make her way back home.
But as soon as her hand touched the stairway railing, she froze in place.
A memory of Alberto’s harsh coughing episode surfaced in her mind.
Her lips formed into a tight line as she murmured, “Is he really alright?”
She shrugged off the thought.
“He’s a grown man.
What could possibly happen?”
“But then again… He did seem unwell earlier.
Yes, he’s an adult but he’s also sick.
If anything bad were to happen to him while I’m here, it could stir up complications.”
“No, nothing will happen.
I’m not alone in this house.
There are plenty of servants here.”
“Though, it doesn’t really seem like there are any around…”
Rachel felt a mental tug-of-war going on inside her head, as two conflicting thoughts argued back and forth, causing her ears to ring.
She closed her eyes to calm herself down.
She decided to go find him.
Maybe it was due to his persistent coughs, or her instinctive inclination to maintain a cordial relationship, or even the thought that he might come in handy someday.
Whatever the reason, Rachel released her grip on the handrail, turned around, and made her way to the rear of the main building.
She continued walking down the corridor, the only source of light guiding her path.
The surrounding area was enveloped in darkness and silence.
She stood at the intersection of the winding corridor, unsure of which path to take as she Looked around.
In such a grand place, there wasn’t a sign to guide her.
Which direction was the correct one? Where could Alberto be?
Rachel stood there for what seemed an eternity before instinctively opting for the left-hand path.
She was unsure of how long she walked.
Just as she began contemplating returning to the fork to try the other path, a faint light caught her eye.
The light was emanating from a side building.
