Rachel then donned her coat, picked up her car keys, and headed out.

The drive to Alberto’s residence took nearly an hour.

She parked the car at the gate of the house.

The gate in front of her was closed.

She frowned and looked through the window at the guard room.

It was dark inside and no one was on duty.

After a moment of consideration, she retrieved her phone, accessed the call log, selected the most recent entry, and dialed back.

Rachel frowned and asked, “Mr.

Gibson, are you doing alright?”

After a long time, Alberto’s voice came.

“I’m fine.”

Through the phone, she faintly heard the sound of a wheelchair being maneuvered.

Could it be that he was coming to receive her himself?

No, that couldn’t be the case.

Given the grandeur of the house and the fleet of nearly a hundred servants, it was impossible that he would personally attend to the gate.

Rachel quickly dismissed her speculation.
