In the ladies’ room, Rachel turned off the tap and grabbed some tissue to dry her hands.

Glancing at her reflection in the mirror before her, Rachel was momentarily lost in her thoughts, as though she had been transported back to the time before her rebirth, when she was not Rachel, but Shelia.

The buzzing of her phone yanked her away from her distant thoughts.

It was Quintin calling.

She answered and inquired, “What’s the matter?”

“Aren’t you fond of the hairpin? Why did you stop placing bids? It’s just twenty million.” A voice, tinged with regret, echoed from the other end of the line.

A sudden realization appeared to hit Quintin.

He hesitated before asking cautiously, “Are you short on cash?”

Rachel was momentarily at a loss for words.

“Are you really short of money? That’s on me! I didn’t expect that.

But rest assured! Even if you’re broke, I’m not,” Quintin declared generously.

“If you really want the hairpin, I can give you two hundred million dollars, not just a mere twenty million!”

Rachel arched an eyebrow, crumpled the tissue into a ball and threw it into the trash can.

“Oh really? Didn’t you claim to Joe that you were penniless just a few days ago?”

Somewhat taken aback, Quintin subconsciously touched his nose, a hint of guilt flickering across his face as he replied, “Uh… I said that because he was spending money left and right.

You wouldn’t believe what he did recently.

In order to get revenge from me for dragging him back from Apliaria, he raided my bank account and donated all the funds to a war-torn region.

The total was equivalent to the earnings of ten missions.

It took me a lot of time to earn it.”

Merely the thought of it made Quintin’s heart twinge with pain.

The earnings he had risked his life for were being frivolously splashed by Joe.

Quintin understood that the war-torn victims were in desperate need of aid.

It wasn’t that he was unwilling to donate, but the manner in which it happened left him so poor he couldn’t even afford fresh underwear.

Rachel couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

“Thankfully, I stashed away some money with the goal of winning a girl’s heart and marrying her,” Quintin said in a tone of grievance.

“Marriage?” This was the first time Rachel heard Quintin expressing a desire to marry.

Since their acquaintance, he had always been engrossed in the world of hacking.

His days seemed filled with coding, never once did he mention any romantic engagements.

Rachel sensed something unusual had occurred in Quintin’s life.
