“Twenty million, going once!” The auctioneer’s voice rang out, initiating the countdown.

Odin gestured for his assistant to step away.

“Twenty million, going twice!”

Lifting his gaze, Odin met Alberto’s eyes.

Alberto acknowledged him with a slight nod.

Odin’s thin lips pursed into a straight line and his jaw tightened.

Rachel’s phone beeped once more.

Quintin had sent her a question mark, wondering if she intended to bid higher for the hairpin.

Her fingers tapped the screen lightly, sending a response to Quintin.

“No.”

“Twenty million, sold! Congratulations, Mr.

Gibson! The hairpin is yours for the price of twenty million!” Thus, after a fierce bidding war of more than ten minutes, the auction concluded.

Odin’s eyes carried a hint of sadness.

Catching a glimpse from the corner of her eye, Rachel noticed that the leaflet in his hand was wrinkled and disheveled.

He was trying to control his feelings.

With only a few auction items left, Rachel lost interest.

Rising from her seat, she made to leave.

Noticing that she stood up, Odin grabbed her wrist and asked, “Where are you going?”

His voice was cold.

His grip was not light.

Rachel frowned.

“To the restroom, and then for some fresh air.

I’m feeling a little sleepy.”

Odin looked at Rachel as if he was trying to read her mind.

Finally, he released her wrist, stating, “I’ll arrange for someone to take you home after the auction.

I have matters to attend to.”

“Okay.” Rachel had clearly heard the exchange between Odin and his assistant, and she knew what it meant.

Rachel couldn’t understand why he was so mad right now.

Wasn’t it his decision in the first place? He made the choice to let go of the hairpin in order to connect with Alberto.

But now, his anger was so intense that he felt like ripping the leaflet apart and destroy the entire venue.

And what bothered her most was his venting his frustration on her.

“If you’re fond of hairpins, I can arrange for someone to…”

“Mr.

Sullivan, it’s done.” Rachel cut him off.

“You lost.”
