Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1557
Rachel opened her eyes and felt pain in her palm.
She opened her palm and saw that she was gripping the pendant too tightly.
It pressed into her palm and hurt her.
Rachel put the pendant back in its original place.
“Come in,” she said to the person at the door.
A second later, Lila pushed the door open and stepped in.
“Miss
Bennet, I’m going out to buy some food.
What do you want to eat tonight?”
“Well… Lila, just cook whatever you want.”
Lila nodded and turned around to leave, but Rachel called her back.
“Yes, Miss Bennet?” Lila asked as she turned back.
“Well, Lila.” Rachel trailed off and thought of how to phrase her question.
A moment later, she asked, “Have you ever hated someone?”
Lila was surprised by the question, but then she smiled.
“Of course! It’s rather impossible not to hate at least one person considering the number of people we come in contact with in our life.”
“And do you still hate the person?”
Lila shook her head negatively this time.
“I don’t.
I have so many other things to do.
Wasting my time hating him would only pull me back.
I’d rather just let go than hate him.”
Just then, an alarm went off.
Lila quickly took her phone and turned off the alarm.
“Miss Bennet, are you sure there’s nothing you want to eat? The supermarket is on sale today, and the vegetables are fresh and cheap.
That was why I set the alarm-to remind me.”
“I don’t want anything, Lila.
Get whatever you want.”
“Okay.” Lila nodded and left.
Rachel stayed on the edge of the bed in the same position for a long time.
A million thoughts ran through her mind at the same time.
She couldn’t even think straight anymore.
Why did it seem like everyone was persuading her to let go of her hatred? Was it that easy?
Or maybe, they had been telling her the same thing ever since.
She just hadn’t bothered to consider it seriously until now.
She used to be driven by the desire to avenge Abby and make Victor pay for what he had done.
But now that he was unexpectedly dead, it would be stupid for her hatred to live on.
Suddenly, her phone rang and broke through her tormented thoughts.
