“Dad.” Came a very loud whisper from right next to my face.

What the hell was that?

“Daaaaaaaddd.” It came again.

Slowly, I opened my eyes. It took a moment for me to adjust to the light of the room but as soon as I did, I found Tate standing right next to my face. He’s still in his pajamas and his short hair is sticking up all over the place.

“Good morning buddy.” I whispered since Epperly is still asleep and wrapped around me.

“Good morning Daddy. I’m hungry.” Tate said.

I chuckled “Of course you are.” I said. “Go on, I’ll be out in just a minute. There is some fruit on the bottom shelf of the fridge you can snack on for now.” I told him.

“Okay Daddy.” Tate said and then walked out of the room.

As soon as he was gone Epperly rolled off of me onto her other side.

I frowned.

Of course I wasn’t looking forward to unwrapping her myself but that was prime time to touch her. So, I cuddled up behind her and hugged her close. Epperly sighed in her sleep and then pushed her a*s against me. I peeked under the covers.

When did she take off her pants?

Epperly pushed herself against me again and my d**k sprung to attention.

“Good morning.” Her sleepy voice floated through the air.

Epperly wiggled her a*s on me and hummed out in pleassure. Then she took my hand that was on her h*p and moved it onto her bare thigh. A shiver ran through my body.

“When did you even take your pants off?” I asked as my fingers ran along her bare skin.

Tingles erupted through my hand making me not want to stop.

“Okay Mommy.” Tate said and then we heard him run back to the living room.

Epperly giggled at me as soon as we no longer heard his footsteps.

Epperly’s eyes fell to mine. I’m now laying on my back watching her as she walks about the room. My mate smiled slyly before swiping the blanket from my body. She crawled up my body before straddling me.

Epperly leaned down and pressed her lips to mine. Then she pulled away and brought her lips to my ear.

Epperly leaned back up and stared down at me while she chewed on that pillowy bottom l*p. Then she let go of it as her eyes fell on the tattoo on my chest. She trailed her fingers across it.

“This is the tattoo Tate saw?” She asked. I nodded. “You tattooed my name on your chest?” She asked.

Again, I nodded.

“It wasn’t always easy without you. I got a little drunk and got this but I never regretted it. It was always a reminder that you were out there somewhere.” I told her.

Epperly smiled and bent to press her lips to mine. I wrapped my arms around her and held her close as our lips moved against each other. She always tastes so f*****g good.

Then she giggled and jumped off of me and I g*****d.

“Do we have cereal or poptarts? I’m a terrible cook.” She said.

I rolled out of the bed and stood to my feet in front of her.

“It’s Sunday. If you take him to the school kitchen Belle will be there with donuts and cinnamon rolls. She’s a better baker than even me, you guys will love it.” I told her and then kissed her nose.

“Who is Belle?” She asked.

“Oh that’s right, you didn’t get to meet Robby and Belle.” I said. “Well, Belle is a Wood Nymph and the nicest person I know, next to her mate. Which is Robby. They have a couple of kids too, one is Tate’s age. Belle helps run the school with Tia, she handles social events for the kids. Robby is a Phoenix and is also Max, Bou, and Bianca’s brother. They grew up together.” I told her.

“Oh.” Epperly said. “More people to meet.” She said.

“You don’t have to go, I can shower later and cook for you guys now.” I told her.

Epperly shook her head.

“No no. I’ll go get Tate dressed and we can go. I need to get used to this place anyways.” She said.

“Alright my love. Get Tate a b***d bag though. Just microwave it for a few minutes. When he gets to the school he can have more. One of the people there will be able to help you with it and I will be right behind you.” I told her.

Epperly gave me a quick k**s before going to our son. I ran a hand through my hair and g*****d when she left. My d**k is still hard as ever, but I have things to do today. So, I took the coldest and shortest shower of my life.

After that I brushed my teeth and dressed in some jeans and a white V-neck shirt. I ran a brush through my hair and then pulled it back into a bun. By the time I was done my mate and son were gone.

I spent a few more minutes picking up all of Tate’s toys and tidying up the house. Then I tossed my own b***d bag in the microwave.

While I drank the b***d I thought about what Relly had told me last night.

Kiah is Epperly’s father.

How is that even possible? Why didn’t he tell her? And what about her wolf?

It’s clear that she doesn’t have a wolf. Epperly never said anything about shifting ever. She had to have been born a Hybrid though.

What the hell happened to her? Does Kiah know? I have got to talk to him.

Just then there was a knock to my front door.

“Come in.” I called out.

The door opened and Ryce walked in with their seven year old son, Landry.

“Hey Landry, how’s it going little guy?” I asked my nephew as I ruffled his hair.

“Uncle Brose.” He greeted back rudely as he patted his hair down.

I chuckled. Landry is not like any other kid I know. He cares way too much about his style. What kind of seven year old even cares what they wear? He’s so grumpy too. His mothers looks with his fathers attitude.

“Where is your mate and son?” Ryce asked me.

“They went to the school to get some of Belle’s cinnamon rolls.” I told him. “I was just about to head there.”

Ryce nodded.

“Well, I came to give you Alpha Kiah’s number.” He said as he handed me a small piece of paper.

“Thank you.” I said. “Does he know I’ll be calling?” I asked.

Ryce nodded again.

“He’s aware that Ambrose Morningstar will be calling him but he has no idea what about.” Then Ryce smirked. “Sounded pretty anxious though.” He said.

I rolled my eyes.

“I wonder why, you only told him that little ol’ me, a Morningstar wants to talk with him.” I said sarcastically.

Ryce laughed.

“Ehh, it’s fun to make the Alphas squirm.” He said.

“That’s true.” I said with my own laugh.

“Your mate is lovely Ambrose. I would expect nothing less for you.” He told me. “She’s just like you described her to me.” He said.

I smiled.

Back when things started to get dark for me Ryce was the first person I turned to. He spent many more years away from his mate than I had. Granted they were too young to feel the full mate bond but I imagine it was still hard for him.

Back then I needed advice. It was extremely unfortunate that Ryce didn’t have anything good to tell me. Dude was a total a*****e with Relly.

“I’m happy you found her again man.” Ryce said.

“Me too. Not sure how long I could have gone without her.” I admitted.

Ryce nodded in understanding.

“And what a shock it must have been to find you have a son.” He said with a laugh.

My eyes went wide as I nodded.

“Yeah. Seeing him buckled into that car and yelling at me for being mean to his mom was the shock of my life. I was just happy I was able to get them back here before she could disappear with him again.” I said.

Ryce laughed.

“That kid is super protective of you both.” He said. I nodded with my own laugh. “So, you gonna tell her that Kiah is her father?” Ryce asked.

My eyes snapped to his.

“I don’t know. I would say that I think he should tell her but he didn’t before. Guess it’ll depend on what he has to say when I call him.” I said.

Ryce nodded.

“Well, we will leave you to it. Come on Landry, lets go find your mother. I’m sure she is getting angry that she hasn’t had my b***d yet.” He said.

Landry and I shared a look of disgust before he took his dads hand and walked out of the house.

I stared at the small piece of paper Ryce gave me for a few moments before pulling out my phone. I punched the number in and pressed the call button. Here we go.

There was an answer on the second ring.

“This is Kiah.” Came a deep voice.

I took a deep breath.

“Alpha Kiah, this is Ambrose Morningstar.” I greeted.

There was a bit of noise in the background before Kiah cleared his throat.

“Mr. Morningstar, I have been expecting your call. What can I do for you?” He asked and I could hear the nervousness in his voice.

“You can relax Alpha, I’m not calling to threaten you. Well… Not yet anyways.” I said.

“Uh, then why did you call me Mr. Morningstar?” He asked.

“Please call me Ambrose. Afterall we are family now.” I said and then I took another deep breath. “I just recently found out something about my mate that I need you to explain to me.” I said.

“Uhmmm.. What could I possibly tell you about your mate Ambrose?” Kiah asked.

“Well for starters, you can explain to me why you never told her that she is your daughter.” I growled out.

There was nothing but silence on the other line. I had to pull the phone from me ear to make sure that he didn’t hang up. He’s got two more minutes to say something before I start to really get pissed.

“I don’t know what you mean Ambrose. I have no children and my mate died lon-” He started to say but I interrupted him.

“Cut the s**t Kiah. I know you are Epperly’s father. You not only told my older sister but she could smell it on Epperly when she met her last night.” I gritted out.

“Epperly is with you?” He asked and you could hear the sadness in his voice. “Is she okay?” He asked.

I sighed.

“She is fine. No thanks to you. Why did you never tell her?” I asked.

Kiah sighed on the other line.

“I wanted to at first. But she… She had no interest in knowing her parents. I thought that after some time I could bring it up again but she was never ready to know where she came from. I had no idea she even existed until I found her at that lab.” He told me.

So, it was Epperly that didn’t want to know. I remembered what she said to me when I brought up her file. She just wanted to put all of her trauma to rest and move on, but she had no idea her father was right in front of her.

“And you just let her go off into the world on her own knowing that someone was after her?” I seethed.

Kohen was growling in my head. His anger mixed with my own was making it hard to focus on the conversation. s**t, I need to smell Epperly.

“She was a sitting duck here I-” He started but my growl stopped him from finishing.

“You could have sent someone with her! Yourself even. Instead you threw her to the cruel world with no protection.” I said angrily.

Kiah was quiet for a moment.

“I know. I made mistakes. I thought I was doing the right thing. Not a day has went by that I haven’t thought about her. I’ve worried this whole time about her and if she had been captured.” He said and I could hear the genuiness in his voice.

I sighed.

“Luckily for us she remained safe.” I said and then took another breath to calm myself. “She is doing good Kiah. I have her now and she will stay safe forever now. Epperly gets to have the life that was robbed from her finally.” I said.

“That’s… amazing Ambrose.” He breathed out sounding relieved.

“Kiah, do you know who is looking for Epperly?” I asked him.

“Not exactly.” He said. “After I found her my team and I searched anywhere and everywhere we could for information about her. I never knew that my mate was a Djin when I met her. Sandra never told me. We spent five years together before she was kidnapped. At the time I had no idea it was humans or that she was carrying my child. I’m not even sure if Sandra knew what she was.” He said sounding tired.

“Anyways, we could never dig up much about Djins. There was another lab that we had planned to infiltrate but when we got there…. Well, someone had beat us to it.” Kiah said.

“Beat you to it?” I asked.

Kiah sighed.

“When we arrive there was some kind of supernatural there. Something that I couldn’t really scent. He was a powerful man, never gave us his name, but he explained to us that he was looking for a Djin. I told him that we were searching for my mate and he believe me. The man had told us that there were many Gods out looking for the very last Djin. He told us how word had spread and they were sending all of their best soilders out to find it. I think that he knew that Epperly was with me but no one ever came to my pack looking for her. There was something about him that was off.” Kiah said.

“What do you mean off?” I asked.

“I don’t know Ambrose. He knew that I was lying and I’m sure he suspected that I had the Djin in my possession, but he never went after her. If he followed me back to my pack and I sent Epperly out he never took her clearly. Not to mention that he gave us tons of information about the people going after her, and asked for nothing in return.” He answered.

I thought about what he said.

“That is off.” I agreed.

Kiah and I were silent for a moment as I thought over everything he said.

“Can you really protect her from multiple Gods?” Kiah finally asked.

I growled through the line.

“Yes. She will always be safe with me.” I said.

“I know you are a Morningstar Ambrose, but these are Gods and a lot of them after her.” He said.

“She is MY MATE.” I gritted through the line as blind rage took over.

How dare he think I can’t protect what’s mine.

“The Gods would be fools to go up against me! Even if all of them banded together.” I seethed. “Anyone who comes for her will die. I’ve already been sending these soilders back to their Gods. As soon as she has my marks none of them will dare to touch her. They would be starting a war and not all the Gods are against my family.” I told him.

“I will burn every single God alive if they even think about coming what’s after mine.” I knew my voice is sounding dangerous. Kohens voice mixed with my own sounding scary, even for supernaturals.

“Understood.” Kiah said. “Is she happy?” He asked after a moment.

I sighed.

“She has only been here for two days but yes, she is happy.” I said. “She misses you.” I added.

“I miss her too.” Kiah said, his voice full of emotion.

“Good, because we are inviting you here for spring break in a few weeks. Anyone who wants to come is welcome. Especially the two that were Epperly’s friends. I will arrage for your stay. I assume you will come?” I asked.

Kiah was silent for a moment.

“Uhm, yeah, of course.” He said.

“I won’t tell her your her father, I’ll let you do that. And I will be surprising her so be prepared for that.” I said warning him.

“Understood.” Kiah replied.

“I have one more question though.” I said.

“Yes?” Kiah replied.

“If Epperly is your daughter, how come she doesn’t have a wolf?” I asked.

Kiah was silent for another moment and I was growing frustrated.

“She never opened the file I take it.” He mumbled.

“What does that mean?” I asked annoyed.

Kiah sighed.

“You wanna know what happened to my daughters wolf, read that file.” Kiah said and then hung up on me.

f*****g prick.

Kohen and I were still seething after that phone call.

What is in that file? Whatever it is it can’t be good. Should I bring this up with Epperly first? She was very clear that she had no interest in what was in that folder but… what if that changed now?

I mean her whole life has changed in the last two days. Maybe she would want to know now. And how am I supposed to bring up that she needs to look in it without giving away that Kiah is her father?

Maybe I should wait until he comes here. It’s only three weeks away. Yeah, that’s what I will do, I’ll wait until Kiah tells her.

With my mind made up I put my phone in my pocket and went to find my mate and son. I need to calm down and they will be exactly what I need to do that.
