BOOK6 Chapter11
And now, he's gone back on everything he used to claim!
He mistook thorns for roses, let Rachel overstep, and gradually
enabled her actions that led to my death. And now, he's crying and
apologizing to me?
It's almost comical.
He wept for a long time, his face ashen, and took a while to pull himself together before he spoke to the intern pathologist.
"Also, make sure to compare the baby's DNA with mine."
The intern pathologist, visibly concerned, asked, "Dr. Michael... are you alright?"
"Yes," Michael said, nodding as if he'd made a firm decision. "We need to keep this under wraps. I'll handle the investigation personally." "Got it."
Soon, the baby's DNA was sent for comparison.
Michael spent the night next to my body, smoking and talking to me, though I didn't hear a word he said. The next morning, he
begrudgingly took me to the funeral home.
He finally remembered my mother's body and, in a show of feigned compassion, went to bow at her grave, apologizing to a corpse, arranging her funeral, and even bringing my father's ashes to be buried with her. At last, he did one good thing.
But it's too late!
Everything he's doing now is just to make himself feel better!
He's kneeling in front of my parents' graves, confessing and vowing to uncover the truth about my mysterious death.
In reality, he already has his suspicions, but he's unwilling to admit he was wrong about the rose he raised himself. He's still trying to find evidence to convince himself otherwise.
Looking back, the evidence and clues from four years ago had long been erased by Rachel. Apart from my body, he found nothing.
So, Michael shifted his approach to finding evidence.
He dug up satellite maps from four years ago, scrutinizing every version. In one of the inadvertently taken photos, he spotted Rachel and me!
Back then, Rachel was just a novice, dressed plainly and simply, but her gaze was filled with malice as she secretly followed me with a scalpel.
Yet Michael didn't recognize her venomous look and continued to see
her as an innocent, pitiful girl!
In the photos, Rachel was wearing those pearl earrings that didn't
match her simple attire, becoming a key piece of evidence in her
murder charge!
After a few days of investigation, everything was confirmed: Rachel was undoubtedly the cruel murderer!
Michael, as if drained, collapsed on the study room floor, unable to collect himself.
At that moment, Rachel, unaware, walked in wearing a red maternity
dress.
She seemed to sense that the truth might come out since my body had been unearthed, so she cu**ly tried to cover her tracks by wearing a new pair of pearl earrings, hoping to clear her name. "Honey, look at this dress paired with the pearl earrings you gave me. It's so beautiful."
