Love Story - Chapter 1

"Mrs. Allen, your custom wedding dress has arrived. Can you come for a fitting this Saturday?"

"Mrs. Allen?"

The voice on the phone snapped me out of my shock.

Looking at the message in Nico Allen's WhatsApp, I fought back the overwhelming feeling of weakness and managed to tell the staff member on the other end: "Not now, thank you."

Then I hung up.

"Had a great time last night, already missing you."

Besides this sentence, there were no other chat records in the dialog box, the kind that gets deleted after each conversation.

I told myself this doesn't mean anything, held my breath, and clicked into her Facebook.

The large background image was a photo of Nico kissing a girl, their profiles clearly visible.

As the last shoe dropped, dizziness overcame me. I collapsed onto the bed, beginning to accept this cruel and prolonged torture.

With trembling fingers, I scrolled down. There were three Facebook posts, visible for only three days.

The first was a selfie, showing a girl pouting and making a peace sign, looking young and beautiful.

The second was a photo of Nico, with the caption: "Some people like streams because they've never seen the ocean. I've seen the Milky Way, but I only love one star."

The third was a plaintive text: "Someone without status doesn't even have the right to be jealous."

The sound of water hadn't stopped in the bathroom. I took several deep breaths to regain my composure.

I picked up my phone and took a photo of these Facebook posts, then checked their transfer records. The amounts ranged from tens of thousands to hundreds... I held my breath as I recorded the three pages of transfer records, then marked the WhatsApp message as unread and put Nico's phone back in its place.

Nico had been acting very strange lately, I had actually noticed it for a while. I kept telling myself it was just because he was too tired from all the wedding and work stuff recently.

Now, this WhatsApp message cruelly threw all the facts in my face, reminding me that it was time to face reality.
