On the screen , Rowena , visibly enraged , kicked the machine twice in frustration .

Unsurprisingly , her kicks did nothing to the cold , unyielding metal Meanwhile , the banging on the door outside grew louder , as if it would give way at any moment .

Feeling oddly virtuous , she climbed onto the bed without hesitation .

With a final glance at the metal door , she reached out with both hands toward Flys’s delicate , porcelain – like neck .

Though the surveillance footage had no sound , Torin immediately grew tense at the sight of Rowena’s hands .

The moment her fingers touched Elysia’s skin , her body jerked violently as if she had been electrocuted 

She froze , her eyes wide in shock , and didn’t move further .

Torin , watching from the broadcast roon , could no longer contain his anxiety .

Pulling out his phone , he called Aspen to confirm Elysia’s condition , seeking reassurance .

“ Miss Drayton ? Aspen answered promptly .

“ Mrs.

Drayton visted earlier , so I stepped out for a moment .

Her breath hitched as she fumbled to check for a pulse , then for a heartbeat .

Not a single sign of life .

Rowena shrieked , leaping off the bed as if barned .

Her face contorted into a mask of fear and fury as she pointed a trembling anger at the lifeless body 

Rowena shouted , “ You … you’re dead You’ve been dead this whole time ! How dare you trick me , Elysia ! ” 

It was only then that Rowena remembered to check this laboratory .

She looked up .
