Chapter 53

Jessica POV

Sam and I, reached my mother’s room and knocked. Within seconds, the door opened and my mother stood on the others side. A smile spread across her face, when she saw me.

“Oh my goddess, I’m so happy you’re ok!” She blurted out, while pulling me into a tight hug.

“Yes, I am mom. How are you feeling?” I asked, while pulling away form the hug and walking into her room with Sam.

“I’m fine. I want to hear more about you. How do you feel? Do you have all your memories back? When did you wake up?” She blurted out question after question, making me chuckle.

“Slowdown mom. I feel much better today, last night I was a little overwhelmed, but Alpha Colton helped calm me down…” I started and paused for a moment, when my mother had a knowing grin on her face.

“What the hell! Did you know he was my mate too?” I questioned, while glancing between Sam and my mother. They both laughed at me.

“I had a hunch.” She replied with a wink and I shook my head in disbelief.

“As I was saying, he helped me a lot last night. He didn’t rush the whole mate thing on me and I was really grateful. I do have all my memories, it was an emotional rollercoaster ride to remember everything all at once, but I survived.” I explained.

“I’m glad he was there for you. He really seems to care about you.” My mother said, her eyes stayed locked with mine. I knew she was looking to see how I would react to her comment.

“Honestly, I know he likes me, but I’m not sure how he feels about the mate bond. He wants to take me away for a night when he gets back and hopefully, we will talk about things then.” I replied, feeling slightly insecure about where Alpha Colton and I stood.

“Oh, a night away, eh?” Sam teased, while wiggling her eyebrows at me. Making my mother laugh.

“Shut up!” I said, while pushing her shoulder playfully.

“I wanted to ask you a favour, mom.” I said, directing my attention back to my mother and successfully changing the subject.

“What is it?” She asked curiously.

“I want you to teach me about magic. I want to know what I can do and how to do it.” I replied and I could see she was deep in thought, after hearing my words.

“I guess now that Alpha Ryan isn’t a problem anymore, I can’t see why not.” She said, in a serious tone.

“Thank you.” I squealed out excitedly.

We were interrupted by a knock at the door, drawing all of our attention towards it.

“Come in” My mom said.

The door opened and Alpha Colton stood on the other side, looking devilishly handsome. He was wearing black dress dress pants and a navy blue dress shirt, with the top three buttons undone. Butterflies flooded my stomach just at the sight of him. Jasmine was howling excitedly in my head.

“Alpha, how can we help you?” My mother asked.

“Actually, I have a surprise for you and Jess. Can you both please follow me.” He said, with a small smile.

My mother looked at me curiously, likely trying to figure out if I had any clue what he was talking about, but I didn’t, so I shrugged my shoulders at her.

“Ohhhh, a surprise! I love surprised.” Sam squealed, while clapping her hands together.

“Are you coming?” Alpha Colton asked, with one eyebrow raised.

We stood up and hesitantly followed him out of the room.

“Where are we going?” I asked, as he placed his hand on my lower back, causing all kinds of sparks to shoot through my body.

“You’ll see.” Is all he said.

He lead us to the far end of his territory, by the western border. It was an area I had never seen before and it was beautiful. There were large mature trees, with loads of wild flowers, it was still early in the season, but you could tell how beautiful it must be in full bloom.

In the middle of a small clearing there was a large willow tree and beside it, I noticed a wooden bench. It was an odd place for a bench, this area didn’t seem to be used much by the pack.

As we got closer to the bench, I noticed a large stone sitting in front of it on the ground. My eyebrows furrowed, as I wondered what this place was.

The closer we got, I was able to pickup writing on the stone. My fathers name was written in bold letters across the top, with his birthday and my 19th birthday listed below his name. That’s when it hit me, Alpha Colton said he wanted to dedicate a place so my mother and I could properly say our goodbyes. I was just surprised at how fast he made it happen.

I couldn’t hold back my tears, as soon as I realized what he had done for us, I started to sob like a baby. He must of done all this right after our run this morning and I’m speechless.

I glanced over at my mother, who had dropped her body to the ground in front of the tombstone. Her tears were also running freely from her eyes.

I sat on the ground next to her and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. I used my other hand to wipe my tears that ran freely down my cheeks.

I looked over at Alpha Colton, he had a concerned look on his face.

“I’m sorry, if you don’t like it…” He started to speak, but I cut him off. I knew he wasn’t reading our reaction properly.

“No, it’s perfect. Thank you so much, you have no idea what this means to me, to us.” I said, with an appreciative smile.

“Thank you so much, Alpha. I just miss him so much.” My mother sobbed and I wrapped my arms around her tightly.

“Sam and I, will give you guys some alone time. Jess, can you come and find when you’re done?” Alpha Colton asked. I nodded my head at him, before he walked away with Sam.

“I’m sorry he’s gone, mom. I can’t help but feel responsible for his death.” I said, in a low sad voice.

“Don’t ever think that. You’re father loved you so much, hun. I love you so much. Even if we knew the consequences of our actions before we hid you, we would of still done everything the same. None of this is your fault. We did what we had to, to keep you safe.” My mother said, while wiping tears from her cheeks.

“You and Dad, are the only reason I am who I am today. You raised me to be a fighter and that’s what I did, I fought with everything I could muster. I will always be grateful, that I was luckily enough to have you two as my parents.” I replied. My mother smiled, before squeezing my shoulder.

We sat next to my fathers tombstone, for almost an hour in comfortable silence. We said our own silence goodbyes and each laid a gentle k**s on the cold tombstone.

I felt I heavy weight lifted from my shoulders, now that I had finally had the chance to mourn the loss of my father and put him to Rest In Peace. I could tell my mother felt the same way.

We got up from the ground and slowly walked back towards the pack house.

“I’m happy you found your mate, Jess. I can already tell he’s going to treat you well.” My mother said softly, while glancing over at me with a smile.

“Thanks mom.” I replied. I wasn’t sure what else to say, I feel like Alpha Colton and I, need to have a serious conversation before I start referring to him as my mate.

We got back to the pack house and my mother decided to go back to her room and relax. However, she did agree to teach me some magic tomorrow, which I was extremely excited for.

I made my way to Alpha Colton’s office, knowing that he would likely be in there and he had asked me to come find him.

When I got there, the door was partly, open. Before I could announce myself, Alpha Colton noticed me.

“Come in, Jess.” He said and I complied. I noticed that Josh and his Gamma, Kyle, were seated across from him.

“I can come back later, if I’m interrupting.” I said, when I noticed they were having a meeting.

“No, you weren’t interrupting, we were just finishing up.” He said, as both Josh and Kyle stood up.

“Luna.” Kyle greeted and bowed his head to me. Catching me completely off guard. I hadn’t even thought of the fact, that I would become the Luna of this pack, being Alpha Colton’s mate.

“Please, just Jess.” I corrected and I got a disapproving growl from Alpha Colton, luckily he didn’t say anything though.

“As you wish, Jess.” Kyle said, with a smile.

“I better go and say goodbye to my mate or I’ll never hear the end of it.” Josh joked, causing all of us to laugh. I knew Sam very well and he was 100% accurate, to assume she wouldn’t let him live it down.

“Meet me out front in 30 minutes, so we can head out.” Alpha Colton said and Josh nodded his head, before leaving the room with Kyle.

“Come here.” Alpha Colton ordered, when it was just the two of us in the room. I complied and walked around his desk, to where he was seated.

He grabbed my waist and pulled me down onto his lap. I didn’t protest, I needed a little close contact with him, knowing that I wouldn’t have any for a while.

“Thank you for the tombstone, Alpha Col…” I started to say, but was quickly cut off.

“You’re my mate, Jess. Please call me, Colton.” It’s weird to hear you call me by my title.” He said, while scrunching his nose, causing me to giggle.

“Ok, Colton.” I said and paused for a second before continuing. He looked satisfied hearing his name leaving my lips.

“As I was saying, thanks for the tombstone, you have no idea how much that meant to both my mother and I.” I said truthfully.

“You’re welcome.” He replied, with a smile.

“I hate that I have to leave you. I really wish I didn’t have to go. I left a T-shirt on our bed, for you to wear tonight. It might help you sleep.” He said and I was a bit surprised when he called it our bed, but I didn’t argue. Deep down I liked the sound of that.

“Thank you. I understand there’s a lot for you to take care of, at the new pack. Plus, it’s only one night, right?” I replied, but I think I was trying to reassure myself more than him.

“Umm hmmm…Goddess, I can’t wait to get back and take you away.” He growled out, while rubbing my thigh through my jeans. The action caused arousal to flood my core and my panties dampened instantly.

“See, that smell makes me want to skip this trip all together.” He said in a deep husky voice, while moving his face to my neck. He started to k**s and nip at the skin, causing me to m**n.

“I want to leave my mark, right here.” He said, as he slowly licked over my marking spot, causing a shiver to run down my spine.

“Oh goddess…” I m****d out. The man was turning me into a hot mess of desire.

He stood from his chair and sat me down on the edge of his desk, positioning himself in between my thighs. He leaned forward and captured my lips with his, in a rough, passionate k**s. It was a needy k**s, full of desire. I could feel his erecting against my core and I desperately wanted to feel him inside of me.

One of his hands rubbed along my back, while the other held my head in place, so he could deepen the k**s.

He pulled away, only when we were both desperate for air. My body felt like putty and didn’t want him to stop.

“You drive me crazy, Jess. I want nothing more than to take you right here and now, but I have to go.” He said and I could hear how painful it was for him to say the words.

“I know. I’ll miss you.” I replied softly, while still panting.

“You have no idea how much I’m going to miss you.” He replied, before placing a gentle k**s on my forehead and stepping away from me. I wanted to pull him back, I was already missing his touch but I resisted the urge.

“Be packed and ready to go, for when I get back. We are leaving right away.” He said and I nodded.

“See you tomorrow, Mate.” He said, in a deep husky voice, with a small grin on his face. I simply smiled in return, as he left the room.

I felt cold all of a sudden and hated that he was leaving me. I just found out a day ago, that he was my mate and I’m not ready to spend a night alone, not yet.
