Chapter 42

Jessica POV

My head hit against something hard, causing me to stir awake. My eyes fluttered open, but darkness surrounded me. I felt restricted, I couldn’t stretch my legs or arms out. I felt around my body with my hands and realized that I was in some kind of confined space.

I started to panic as memories of what happened before I went unconscious started flooding my memory. Brad must of kidnapped us. As the thoughts crossed my mind, my hands started to feel around looking for Sam.

“Sam” I whisper yelled, as my hands landed on something beside me. There was no response, but I knew right away that it was Sam. Relief flooded through me, when I felt her chest rise and fall, confirming that she was alive. She must still be unconscious from the drugs.

I felt my body bump around and a few times I had to put my hand to my head to prevent it from hitting against things. That’s when I realized we must be in a trunk and the vehicle was moving. It was so bumping that I figured we must be travelling down a dirt road.

Where is he taking us? Why is he doing this? I can’t let him hurt Sam. I couldn’t help but feel like this was all my fault. I had introduced Brad to Sam, he was such a nice guy at the beginning. I really never got any bad feelings about him. I knew he had a crush on me when I first met him, but I thought that’s all it was. I never thought he would be capable of doing anything like this.

“Sam, wake up.” I whispered, while shaking her. I really wanted her awake, I needed to know she was ok. I tried repeatedly to wake her, but she didn’t even budge.

All of a sudden, I felt the vehicle come to a stop. I heard two doors slam shut, which caused my eyebrows to furrow. Two doors? Was someone with Brad?

My question was answered, when I heard two male voices talking. I couldn’t make out what was being said, but they were getting closer to the trunk. I definitely recognized Brad’s voice, even as muffled as it was and for some reason, the other voice sounded familiar as well, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

I really wish my mom had removed the spell, I could use some magic right now, to get us out of this mess. I could hear keys and felt someone fidgeting with the trunk, I got myself into a position ready to fight, as sheer panic coursed through me.

The trunk opened and my eyes grew wide in shock, when two sets of eyes looked down on me. The first set was Brad, the second set were the ones that shocked me and caused a fearful shiver to run down my spine, it was none other than Alpha Ryan. They also had shocked looks on their faces, as if I shouldn’t be conscious yet.

“She shouldn’t be awake y..” Brad started to speak, but I quickly pulled myself together and kicked my foot up, connecting it with Brad’s face. I heard a sickening crunch sound, before an “Ow” left his lips and he fell backwards on to the ground.

I heard a growl come from Alpha Ryan, as he grabbed ahold of my ankle and tried to pull me out of the trunk. With an open hand, I thrusted my palm upwards hitting Alpha Ryan in the nose. He hiss at the action and reached for his noses with his hands. I knew I had broken it, it was a move I had learned in self defence classes and I was all of a sudden grateful, that I had learned the move.

I jumped out of the trunk, Brad was slowly getting up from the ground, while shaking his head. It looked like he was still a little dazed from the kick.

I turned my attention to Alpha Ryan, who realigned his nose with his hands. I cringed when I heard it crack back into place.

I got into a fighting stance, I knew I didn’t have much of a chance against them, but I wasn’t going down without a fight.

“You really want to fight me?” Alpha Ryan challenged, with a dangerous tone. I didn’t reply, I was trying to watch both Brad and Alpha Ryan at the same time. It was proving to be difficult.

“I think it’s time I teach you a lesson. The sooner you learn your place, the easier this will be on everyone.” Alpha Ryan said, with an evil smirk on his face. He slowly started to walk towards me, but at the same time, he was moving away from Brad, making it more difficult for me to keep an eye on both of them. I found myself glancing from side to side, as I stepped backwards, every time he took a step towards me.

Alpha Ryan was getting closer, I could no longer see Brad unless I turned my head, which I wasn’t going to do. Alpha Ryan was only 5 feet away from me now and my heart was practically beating out of my chest.

All of a sudden, Alpha Ryan lunged at me but luckily I’m pretty fast, I managed to get out of his way and he stumbled past me.

“I’m going to enjoy breaking you, like I did your mother.” He growl out, as he turned and lunged at me again. This time I wasn’t quick enough and he managed to grab ahold of my hair, before yanking me towards him.

“Awww” left my lips, as I reached up and tried to pry his hands from my hair. I felt like he was going to scalp me, it hurt so bad.

“You said you wouldn’t hurt her!” I heard a nervous Brad shout out.

“I lied.” Alpha Ryan said, in a dangerous calm voice, before his fist connected with my cheek. My vision blurred, as blackness took over.

“Bring the other one.” I heard Alpha Ryan order, before I felt him pick me up and throw me over his shoulder. I fought to remain conscious, but lost the battle and slipped into a state of unconsciousness.

Alpha Colton POV

I wasted no time and called Alpha Peter. The more help I can get the better. I know Alpha Ryan won’t give Jess up without a fight.

“Alpha Peter, it’s Alpha Colton.” I said, when I heard Alpha Peter pickup.

“Alpha, how did you mission go? Where you able to rescue Beth?” He asked curiously.

“Yes, we did manage to rescue Beth. She was in rough shape, but is getting stronger by the day. That’s not exactly why I’m calling today though.” I replied. I hated asking for help, but at this point I’m willing to put my pride aside to save Jess.

“Oh, what is then?” Alpha Peter asked curiously.

“After we rescued Beth, she confirmed that Alpha Ryan tried to forcibly mate her daughter, Jess. That’s why he killed his Beta and imprisoned Beth. They hid Jess in the human City away from him.” I said and paused for a second before continuing.

“She was kidnapped today, along with my beta’s mate. We think Alpha Ryan has them.” I finished. The line was silent for a moment, I was getting concerned that the line had disconnected.

“What are you asking of me, Alpha?” He asked and I could hear his frown, without even seeing him. I knew this was a big request, most packs like to stay out of other pack conflicts.

“I need your help, getting the girls back.” I replied and before he could reply, I continued.

“I wouldn’t be asking, if this wasn’t important to me. He’s committing a serious crime, by taking another wolfs mate away from them.” I knew that would get his attention. A werewolf’s mate, is sacred in our world and there are laws in place forbidding anyone from keeping mates apart from one another. Alpha Peter lost his mate in a rogue attack a few years ago and he almost didn’t recover from it. So, he knows the importance of one’s mate.

“Are you sure he took her?” He asked and I could hear the hesitation in his voice.

“99% sure. I told you about the rogue attack on my territory early today. We captured one alive. He confirmed that Alpha Ryan sent them and that they were ordered to cause a distraction. That’s when the girls were taken, while I was busy on the phone dealing with the border breach.“ I replied. I couldn’t help but feel guilty, this should of never happened. I didn’t do my job and I’m the reason they were kidnapped.

“Well Alpha Colton, I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again, You have my support. Tell me what you need and I’ll provide it.” Alpha Peter said and I let out a sigh of relief. I mean, I know my pack would win if we went up against Alpha Ryan’s pack, but the more warriors we have, the less casualties we will have.

“Thank you Alpha, you know I’ll forever be indebted to you.” I replied.

“Honestly, I don’t like how Alpha Ryan runs his pack, he’s a crooked man, I personally think this was bound to happen at some point. Hopefully we can put an end to his dirty ways” Alpha Peter said.

“I agree.” I replied.

“I’ll send my best warriors to your territory tomorrow, let me know what you need and I’ll make it happen.” Alpha Peter said.

“Thank you.” I replied, with so much sincerity.

“Talk soon.” Alpha Peter said and the line disconnected.

I looked up and saw relief in Josh’s face. We have no time to waisted. It’s time to rescue our ladies.
