There were many insurance and financial services companies worldwide. However, only a handful of them could afford to build a skyscraper in Manhattan, where land was expensive. Ark Group was among said handful. The Acker family started their business in Los Angeles, but they grew bigger after they expanded to Silicon Valley and New York.

Many years ago, Ashley invested in a large number of companies with great potential in Silicon Valley at a very low price. In order to better help these investments in their capital planning, the Acker family went to the financial center of the United States, New York, and built the core of their family's business there.

The Acker family had many subsidiaries under their group, which also included investment companies. However, Ark Group remained the Acker family's core business.

After the establishment of Ark Group, Ashley merged her investment funds in Silicon Valley into Ark Group. Ark Group suddenly became the country's largest Internet venture capital company, and also became the Acker family's core company.

Charlie's grandfather, Keith, worked at Ark Building until his retirement. After his retirement, he appointed Charlie's second uncle, Kaeden, to manage the family business. Therefore, this place was turned into Kaeden's office.

Charlie's eldest uncle, Christian, was the only one who stayed in Los Angeles to care for his parents. Charlie's second uncle Kaeden, third uncle Jaxson, and aunt Lulu stayed in New York to work.

Some time ago, Keith's health deteriorated. Therefore, everyone in the family took a temporary break from work and returned to Los Angeles to stay by Keith's side.

After retirement, Keith suffered from Alzheimer's disease. It had been years since he came here. He was a little stunned to find himself suddenly returning to his old office. He walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows, which overlooked the Manhattan scenery. He sighed softly, "The building's still the same, but the outside seems to have changed a lot..."

Christian knew Keith's memory had gone back to twenty years ago. Manhattan today was very different from twenty years ago.

He walked to Keith and said, "Dad, Manhattan's changed a lot." Keith nodded and pointed at the taller building in the distance. "What

building is that? Why is it so tall? I've

never seen it before."

Christian explained, "Dad, that's the world trade center. It was built and put into use a few years ago. Now, it's the tallest building in New York.

"Oh..." Keith nodded softly. "Why, I don't remember it at all..."

Christian said, "Dad, you haven't been to New York for a few years. You probably haven't seen this building before."

Keith smiled bitterly. "My brain's gotten worse. Even if I've seen it, I can't remember it."

After that, he turned to Kaeden and instructed, "Oh, Kaeden. If we can find Charlie soon, give him this building. After all, this is his mother's hard work."

Kaeden agreed without hesitation. "Okay, Dad. I'll remember it. When we find Charlie, I'll transfer the property to his name."

Keith nodded and murmured, "I wonder if Charlie resembles his father or mother more. I remember him looking more like Ashely when he was a child..."

Holly said hurriedly, "He resembles

Curtis more. When he was a kid, he looked like his both parents, but had Curtis's charm. When he grows up, he'll definitely resemble Curtis. He's a handsome young man, just like his father."

Keith paused slightly before spitting vehemently, "Oh, Curtis. Ah, Curtis...! Curtis was a good man, but he's too arrogant!"

Having said that, he got a little

els

worked up and exploded. "If he listened to me back then and joined the Acker family, he would've lived a good life! Look at how much I pamper Ashley. Does he think I'll make him feel unwelcome in the family?'
