It was immediate chaos, as the remaining flying demons descended into the field, and Reviera began running my way. I paid no mind to anything but her. I knew that if I turned my back on her for even a moment, she would take my head. I lifted my hand, and she went flying into a nearby tree. I heard her gasp on impact, but I didn’t give her time to recover. I began hovering, my feet no longer touching the ground as the wind picked up. Ariel was using her powers to knock the demons out of the air, and when they hit the ground, the wolves tore them apart.

I lifted Reviera up with me, and she twisted, stuck in the grip of my powers. She looked at my spitefully, and I almost laughed at the familiar look.

“You should have stayed hidden somewhere like a good girl. Even if you can control the demons now, that doesn’t make you immortal. Has the thought ever occured to you that I could take your life today?” I asked her.

Her dark eyes gave away no fear as she growled at me. I sighed, throwing her to the ground. She skidded for a moment before righting herself. She slid on her feet for awhile, but stopped. She was breathing hard as she reached into the air, and drew out a sword. It was the opposite of the one the Goddess had given me to kill Ragnarok. It had a blade black as night, and a hilt made of silver. She smiled darkly as she held it firmly in her grasp.

“Remember your place, Clea. You will always be the weak, and pathetic child hiding behind your mother’s skirt,” She cried out, and I watched as she began to rise in the air alongside of me, but this time, it wasn’t because of my own powers.

“A Sword given to you by Ragnarok, huh? You’ll have to do better than just mimic me,” I called, lifting my own hand.

Lightning struck down from the sky, and into my palm. I held the bolt like a weapon as thunder cracked throughout the field. Reviera just smiled, and we charged towards each other. Our weapons clashed, sparks flying off as we met each other over and over again. I could see in my peripheral that the rest of Reviera’s forces had arrived in the field, thinned out by Will and May. The hunters immediately flooded the field, going straight for the fighting werewolves.

“You better focus on your big sister, before she kills you,” Reviera cried, her sword meeting mine harshly, her evil smile illuminated farther by the blue light radiating off my bolt of lightning.

“Worry about your own life,” I told her, using my powers to teleport behind her. I meant to cut her down, but was only able to graze her as she moved to dodge me. Still she cried out, my blade not cutting her, but scorching her skin, and stunning her momentarily as the electricity shot through her muscles.

I grinned, and went to finish her off, but one of the flying demons quickly cut between us, taking the blow as Reviera fell to the ground, dropping the sword. The creature screamed as it took the lightning head on. The smell of sulfur and death on worsened by the stench of it’s frying flesh. The bolt was absorbed into its body, and it dropped, lifeless.

My eyes hurriedly searched the battle field, trying to find Reviera in the throngs of war. Seeing the mess on the ground caused me to pause, a stroke of panic hitting my body. B***d already soaked the ground, corpses littering the floor. Some human, others demons. I was scared to look too closely, but at the same time, I couldn’t look away. Were my people already dead on the battlefield? Who?

“Vera, watch out!” Someone cried, I looked up in time to see an arrow shooting towards me.

Time slowed, and I recognized the bolt. It was from a hunter’s crossbow. I had seen them plenty when I was a young child, still with my original family. I lifted my hand, and the bolt stopped an inch before my face. I turned it around, and sent if flying back where it came from. I heard a grunt amongst the throngs as it met with its owner.

I tried to regain my calm, and focused my powers, sending it out to the wolves and the gifted. It was a flash of light. It would blind their enemy, but wouldn’t affect them. I hoped the small chance would give them the moment they needed before I descended into the chaos. I didn’t waste time when cutting down the demons and hunters. My feet didn’t touch the ground as I lifted my hand. Their bodies shuddered for a moment, their eyes meeting mine as they realized they were dying.

The hunters were surprised, probably wondering how I had landed the finishing blow without even touching them, but the demons were not intelligent enough to feel the shock. They would drop to the Earth, like puppets whose strings had been cut. I had crushed their hearts, or ripped off their heads. Either way, I cut through their forces as I looked for my sister. I saw a door appear as I moved about, a hunter being sucked in before the door disappeared, then would reappear somewhere else, and giant dolls came pouring through, instantly fighting the enemy. I smiled, seeing how the kids were contributing.

I turned and saw Eliza struggling with one of the shadow like demons. I quickly threw my power at it, and saw as it’s head tumbled off it’s shoulders. Her eyes met mine, and she nodded her thanks before moving onto her next opponent. It was overwhelming, the screams, the moving bodies. I couldn’t tell if we were winning or losing, all I knew was that I had already lost someone. That thoughts made my goal drift from looking for Reveira, to searching for Rider. I pushed through the crowds, cutting down enemies quicker than before when I saw them. Rider fighting a demon, while Tristan fought a hunter nearby, both of them helping the other.

The sight was shocking, but it helped clear away my worry. Yes, we were all looking out for each other. We would make it out of this, but that was when I saw the flame red hair. She came charging at me, sword in hand, a malicious grin in place. She was too close, I didn’t have time to summon lightning. So with my raised hand, I attempted to squeeze her heart, to end her quickly this time, but she was unphased. As panic filled me once again, she grinned wider. Why wasn’t it working? I had no time. I dodged, but still, she grazed me. I cried out as my flesh ripped, warm b***d spilling from the wound that was meant to be life threatening.

“Vera!” Tristan cried out, finishing off the Hunter as he ran to me, Rider on his heels.

“Stay back!” I yelled, as Reviera’s dark eyes swung to the two with a gleam.

She cackled as she watched me bleed, a twisted sense of joy rising in her face. I quickly healed the wound, before turning back to her, ready.

“I’m not dead yet, Reviera. Maybe save the celebrating until you can stand over my cold corpse,” I told her as she continued to giggle like a mad woman.

“Oh, but you will be soon. This sword was specifically given to me by Ragnarok, afterall. The poison will seep into your b***d and into your heart. Even if you healed the wound, his poison now pumps through your veins.”

I felt the dread as her words rung through the air. My eyes briefly went to Tristan and Rider. Tristan’s face had become sickly pale, staring at me with horror, while Rider stumbled on his feet, still in wolf form.

“You’re not really a worthy opponent, now, are you?” Reviera tsked, looking towards Tristan with her predatory grin.

“Maybe you?” She pondered, raising her sword.

Tristan’s eyes narrowed as he lifted his hand in the air, and began pulling something out of the space his fingers touched. My heart began to pound as my caught what he held, and dread so thick it was almost incapacitating filled me.You see I had forgotten something very simple when I showed Tristan the sword over a year ago on the island, and that was that Tristan’s gift was the ability to copy other people’s gifts.

That realization sent a chill down my spine as he pulled the God killing sword out of thin air, a smile on his face.

“That poison of Ragnarok’s… it only works if he’s alive, right?” Tristan grinned, his blue eyes clashing with Reviera’s black orbs.

She was frozen, as his question sunk in, and in that moment, Tristan’s eyes met mine. His mouth moved, and the words he spoke sent a wave of shock throughout my body, then an abyss seemed to open up behind him, and he disappeared.

“No!” I screamed, my knees giving out as I realized just what he had planned.

Reviera turned to me, her eyes no longer sparkling with amusement as she lifted her dark sword. I knew what she was planning, if she couldn’t win the war, then she would at least take me with her, but before she even could swing her blade down, she froze. I watched, numb as she let out a shuddering breath, then her dark orbs rolled back , and b***d began spilling from her chest.

I took it all in numbly, remembering that Reveira and Ragnarok’s lives had been connected. She fell, the sword dropping from her hand, lifeless. The demons began to fall as well, disappearing in fumes of dark smoke. The hunters watched this all, confused, before realizing they were now outnumbered. Rider’s wolf approached me, his large form standing before my kneeling body. He growled, ready to protect me if any of the remaining enemies came my way.

But they didn’t. They either fled, or were finished off before they could even make it off the battlefield.

And then I was left only with waiting. Waiting for that black hole to reappear, and for Tristan to climb his way out, with his usual carefree, dumb smile, his last words still ringing in my ears.

“I love you.”
