The Headmaster Alpha's Mate
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 87

Zander lay Chloe onto the large soft mattress, as she curled up into the fetal position, her tears dried up but still she silently cried inside. Removing her shoes, then kicking off his own, he lay down beside her, gathering her once more into his arms. As they held each other, united in grief. The sun began to set behind the tall spruce trees, as the pair of them spoke to Chloe’s stomach.

“I may not have known you for the short time you lived inside me, but know this, Mammy loves you very much. I am sorry we will never meet, but rest in peace my perfect prince or princess,” Chloe whispered.

Zander bent down, tears falling down his face as he placed soft k****s on her lower abdomen.

“Daddy love…loves you. Watch over us from heaven little one. I know you are with Granny and Grandpa, and your royal grandparents. I am sure Grandma Rebecca will have you call her aunty or something, but I know they will all take care of you. Untill we meet again, my precious pup.”

A gentle knock at the door disturbed them from saying goodbye to their little one. Zander looked at Chloe. If she was not up to receive whoever was beyond the door, he would have no qualms about sending them away with a flea in their ear for being so insensitive as to disturb them at such a time.

“I am sorry, Alpha, and Luna, but I have brought some hot soup for you both.” Amy’s small voice sounded from beyond the door.

Chloe nodded at Zander, and he moved from the bed, opening the door and taking the tray, giving the young girl his thanks.

Fetching the tray to the side of the bed, Zander began to spoon the hot liquid into Chloe’s mouth.

“I can feed myself.” She smiled at him.

“I know, but let me do this for you, it makes me feel useful,” Zander whispered.

Chloe nodded her head, knowing that Zander felt lost, and needed to do something practical to help ease her pain, even though they both knew nothing could take it away for either of them.

Zander continued to feed Chloe, when Joshua mind linked him, he looked at Chloe, and offered a soft smile.

“Chloe, Nicki wants to see you.” he whispered.

“Not tonight, Zander, I just cannot do it. I am happier than anyone, that she is pregnant, but tonight things are just a bit too raw.” Chloe sighed, feeling guilty about refusing to see her friend, but she wanted time to grieve her loss, so that she could celebrate with Nicki and Josh once she had processed everything.

“Tell Josh, I am sorry, I just cannot face anyone at the moment.” Chloe added.

Zander nodded his head in understanding, and his eyes zoned out as he linked with his brother.

“Sorry Nicki, Chloe is not up to it tonight.” Josh gently told his mate, whilst rubbing her back as she cried for her friend, and the loss of the pup.

“She needs some space to come to terms with everything, Nicki.” Lacey smiled, she understood both girls. Nicki was desperate to support her friend, but Chloe needed to grieve, and it was undoubtedly painful for her to see Nicki at the moment because of her pregnancy.

“I know, it is just that Josh and I have to go back to our pack in the morning, and I feel like I am abandoning her.” Nicki shook her head.

“She knows you are not abandoning her, she just needs some time, my little froggy, and once they are feeling up to it, maybe visiting us for a couple of days will help them both.” Josh reassured her.

Cheryl and Andrew walked into the living area of the pack house. Normally they kept themselves in the hospital part of the pack, but today Cheryl wanted to be close to her daughter, and Luna, who she loved as if she were her own flesh and b***d. Sitting next to Nicki, Cheryl gathered her into her warm loving embrace. She hated to see her so upset. After the years of abuse they had both endured, Cheryl never wanted to see Nicki upset again.

“She will be okay Nicki. Chloe is a fighter and although it hurts like hell at the moment, she will move forward. I will not say she will get over it, because I doubt anyone ever really does in her situation, but she will learn to live with it, and be happy once more.”

Andrew stood watching his mate and her daughter as they spoke, then quickly excused himself, and headed up to the Alpha suit to check on Chloe and Zander. He softly knocked on the door, loathed to disturb them, but also with a deep need to check on them as his patients.

The gruff voice of Zander told him to enter, and he slowly walked into the room.

“Alpha, Luna, I have come to check on you both, and also to give you some instructions before tomorrow.” Andrew softly smiled.

Zander nodded, but he was not letting Chloe go from his arms, no matter what the doctor wanted.

“Chloe, do you have any physical pain?” Andrew asked.

“No, my body feels fit and healthy.” Chloe sighed. She could not understand how she could feel as fit as a horse, yet this was happening inside her.

“Okay, I have you scheduled for surgery tomorrow at one pm. You can eat and drink until 6 am, then after that no food or fluids please. Although I can do this procedure with you awake, I really feel it is better all round if I use a general anesthetic.”

Chloe nodded her head in understanding, then looked up at Zander, before turning to Andrew.

“Would it be too late to ask if we can do this tomorrow morning? I think I just need to get it over and done with, try and get back to normal, if that is even possible.” She asked, waiting till the afternoon was not going to change what was happening, and as much as it hurt, they had a pack to lead, and a war to prepare for, and that was not going to wait for Chloe to come to terms with everything, so she wanted to move forward as quickly as possible now.

“Yes, I can do that, so take a long drink now, then no more food or drink and I will see you at 6am. I have brought some leaflets for you to read through. They may help. If you get pains through the night or bleeding give me a call, and I will come to see you immediately. Now, I will leave you both in peace.” Andrew gave a soft smile, and left the room, as Chloe and Zander held each other even tighter.

Robin’s morning alarm woke him, his body ached, and tiredness was his best friend. He had a restless night concerned about his cousin and his best friend. Lacey stirred beside him, as he lent over and gave her a quick k**s.

“Sleep in Lacey, I am going down to lead the training, then we really need to go check on the progress with the construction work.” He softly told her.

“Do we have to do that today?” Lacey frowned at her mate.

“I have to keep busy Lacey, and as harsh as it sounds, life goes on, and we need everything in place sooner rather than later.” Robin sighed.

“Yeah, I suppose you are right, I need to pull together a list of who wants to transfer over to our pack, then we need to chose our leadership team.” Lacey added, her mate was correct, life did have to go on,no matter how much they wished it to just stand still and stop for a while.

Robin pulled on some thick jogging pants with a matching hoodie, they were now into the end of October and the Scottish winter was fast approaching, and headed out towards the training ground. As he passed the kitchen area, he walked to the counter, to gather his protein shake, when Terrance walked in.

“Beta, sorry Alpha,” he corrected himself.

“I am not sure what you want to do about this, but some of the boarder patrol came across the body of Luna’s adopted father late last night. It was just beyond the pack grounds. I am afraid he took his own life.” Terrance informed him.

“s**t!” Robin exclaimed. This was definitely not something he wanted Chloe and Zander to deal with today.

“I told them to cut him down and wrap his body. Do you think we should tell Luna?” Terrance asked.

“No, not yet. They have a harrowing day ahead. Let’s not add to that, keep the body safe, even if I am tempted to leave it to the elements, I will talk with Zander in the morning.”

Terrance nodded, then linked with his warriors and gave the orders, before grabbing his own protein shake and making his way out onto the training ground.

“That man was nothing but a coward, in life and in death,” Robin growled, angry that Brian had once again caused his cousin pain.

As they walked and talked, Robin smiled at Terrance.

“We are making a list today of who is coming to the Silver Crescent pack with us. I was wondering what your thoughts are?” Robin asked.

“I am staying here, as much as I love and respect you and your mate, my place is to protect the King and Queen.” Terrance, emphatically stated, his mind made up.

“Lacey thinks Issac and Delphine could be trained as the pack Beta’s. You worked closely with Delphine. What are your thoughts?” Robin asked.

“I think Delphi would be happier training the warriors, she would make an amazing head warrior. I do not know much about her mate, but what I did see of him at the games, is that he is switched on, a great warrior in his own right, and has Alpha b***d. He would possibly make a great Beta.” Terrance smiled.

“Hum, maybe he could be the beta, and she could be the head warrior. It is unusual to have mates to hold different positions within a pack, but not unheard of,” Robin thought aloud.

“Well, this new pack is about new beginnings, and moving forward, after all, Delphi will be the first ever female head warrior, it will be a new, modern-thinking pack, something we all need.” Terrance smiled.

“You know what? You are right, I think I like the idea. I will discuss it with Lacey, Zander and Josh tomorrow, then call in Issac and Delphine to ask if they would be willing to transfer.” Robin smiled.

“Oh, with everything happening yesterday, I forgot to mention, Delphine texted me. They are arriving back today. She sent apologies for coming back a couple of days later than planned, but they met with an issue. One of the Wearside pack members, a woman who is around 20, well, she was going through a tough time. Her mate cheated on her, and she rejected him, as soon as the pain stopped. Alpha Harry is dealing with the mate, or ex-mate, but Delphi asked if it would be okay to bring the woman here for a couple of weeks, just till things calmed down.” Terrance asked.

“Yeah, sure, poor thing, that is horrid. How any mate can do that to the other is beyond me. I will have faith set up a room for her here, before Lacey and I leave to see about the construction work. Now, let’s get these lot running some laps, before we head into combat training.” Robin ordered.

Delphine held Issac’s hand as he drove his Mercadies around the twisting Scottish country roads. She had felt the pain of the pack, and felt guilty that she had not been present to help out with the Luna. In the back seat of the car was a blond woman, her head rested against the side window as she slept.

“Liane, we are almost here.” Delphine lent over her seat and gently shook the woman.

Liane’s eyes opened, and she forced a smile, grateful that she was coming to this pack, even if it were for a few weeks. A small smile teetered on her lips as she looked out at the trees and beautiful purple heather that surrounded her. She had one thought, all she had to do, was to make herself useful, so that she would be able to stay, just like she had planned all along.
