The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 63

Chloe woke with a jump, her body covered in a film of sweat, her heart racing like she had just run a marathon. Blinking her eyes open, she tried to calm her rapid breathing down. Maybe the dream was due to the stress of everything that was transpiring, but somehow deep down inside her she knew it was a warning.

Zander woke feeling his mate’s anxiety through the mate bond. Pulling her closer to his chest, he reached out and stroked her hair in an attempt to calm her.

“Hey Princess, it is okay, it will be okay.” His gruff morning voice whispered softly to her.

“I am sorry if I woke you. Zander, I keep having a dream, it is the same one over and over again. I see someone going to betray us. In my dream, I recognised them as someone we know, and felt so hurt, but when I try and see their face. I wake up so I do not know who it is,” Chloe let out an audible sigh of frustration.

Zander placed a soft k**s on the top of her head, and continued to stroke her hair, then wrapping his other arm around her, he held her close to him.

“Chloe, I believe that is a prophetic dream. It is probably more symbolic. The reason you do not see the face is that you will not know who is betraying us when they do it. But whoever it is, they are close to you in some way,” Zander whispered.

“I hate this, I feel like everyone is a suspect, other than Robin, Lacey and, of course, Josh and Nicki, as Hannah already told us that we are all to remain united. It hurts so much to know someone we love and probably trust right now is going to sell us out.” Chloe sighed, shaking her head slightly.

“I know, but at this juncture we do not know their motives. Sometimes people can do bad things but for the right reason, or they may be forced into it. Or they were never truly our friends in the first place, in which case they are not worth our tears. Fear can cause people to panic and make choices they would never normally make. All we can do is to continue to show love and kindness to everyone, that is the way we will win this war, not just by fighting, but by showing everyone there is a better way.” Zander tried to reassure her.

“You are right, I suppose it is leading by example. I wish we could win this thing without bloodshed but with education and words, inspiring people to see our point of view, and stop the prejudice against humans and omega’s and see their worth. However, I feel this will not be possible.” Chloe sighed.

“You are right, it would be great to do this with negotiation, but with all of mankind and werewolf kind you have those who just want to fight and cause mayhem, so, regrettably, fighting back is the only option.” Zander bent down and placed another k**s on her soft lips.

“In the dream it was at my ceremony that we were betrayed.” Chloe sighed.

“Yes, I gathered as much. But this is fair warning for us, so that we can prepare.” Zander smiled.

Reaching out, he cupped her face in his hands.

“However, what will be will be, and now I want you to forget all of this and enjoy your day with Nicki. Do not let our enemies spoil your fun or rob you of your peace, because that is what they want, and we will not give them what they want.”

A knock at the door disturbed them, and Zander shouted for them to enter. Nicki and Josh came into the barbie room, both smiling.

“Right you, get up, we are booked in with Lacey and Caroline to get ourselves all glammed up.” Nicki squealed happily, excited about the ceremony.

“Oh dear god, I am going to look normal.” Chloe laughed.

“Princess, you could never look normal, you are too stunning and beautiful to be just normal.” Zander chuckled.

“Yeah, and you forget I have seen your dress, and normal is not what you look like in it. Zander, you are going to LOVE it!” Nicki grinned.

“Josh is going to love yours as well.Get ready to be whisked away for ‘alone time’ Nicki” Chloe added with a wink, as Nicki flushed bright red and Josh chuckled.

“Come on, Caroline has brought some breakfast,in the guest suite, so we can eat and get ready.” Nicki bounced up and down on the edge of the bed excitedly, making Zander chuckle and Josh smile lovingly at her.

“Chloe, go, enjoy getting ready and everything the day has to offer. Have fun princess, and I will see you soon.” Zander chuckled.

He was happy that Nicki was so excited, and hoped it would help chase some of Chloe’s fears away. He wanted her to enjoy the day, to play dress up with her friend, and be a teenager once more.

Chloe dived out of bed, then smiling at Nicki she turned to her.

“Can I have a shower first?” she laughed.

“Yes, but come on hurry up!” Nicki grinned at her excitedly as Chloe made her way to the bathroom.

The wind began to gust in the forest, the thick canopy of leaves that rustled overhead, cast the area in darkness despite the light of day. In the distance stood three figures huddled together.

“Remember this was why we sent you to that school, this is why you were placed in that pack. Our prophetess told us that this pack would bring about our demise. Do not fail me now just because you like the girl.” A gruff voice spoke.

The man slumped his shoulders, he had no choice. When he took on this mission, he knew this day would come, but he had made friends, he had helped them, stood side by side with them, and although he needed to do his duty to his real pack and Alpha, a sting of pain pierced his heart, he never thought going undercover would be so difficult. Not for fear of being caught, but because of the relationships he had with people he truly loved.

“If you do not do this, and report everything they do to us, then all is lost. Remember those who deserve your loyalty, members of your own family will pay the price if you do not complete your mission.” The other man warned.

With a sigh and heavy heart, he nodded his head. It was time.

Nicki picked up a strawberry and popped it in her mouth as her mother clapped her hands with glee.

“You look stunning Nicola, really stunning.” Cheryl praised her daughter.

“I haven’t even started her make-up yet, only her hair.” Caroline laughed.

“You are so talented Caroline, both our Luna’s hair perfectly reflects their personality, and are stunning. You should think about setting up in the village. I know people will pay good money to have you style their hair.” Lacey smiled at the omega.

“Thank you Beta Lacey, but my place is here, serving my Alpha and Luna.” Caroline grinned.

“As much as I love having you around the place, and I am thankful for all you do for us and the pack, Lacey is right. You have a talent that should not be just for us, but for everyone to reap the benefits from. You are more than a servant, you can do great things, Caroline. Maybe think about it.” Chloe encouraged the woman who, even though had slept with Zander before finding her own mate, Chloe classed her as a friend.

“I will think about it, and thank you.” Caroline smiled, grateful for the encouragement she was receiving from the three top females of the pack.

Nicki looked in the mirror once more. Her long brown hair had been curled, it was half up and half down, the sides swept up then clipped at the back of her head, the curls cascading down like a waterfall. It was perfect, and she glowed with happiness.

Turning to Chloe, Nicki was astounded how regal Caroline had made her look, but yet she still kept the style original, she had even punked it up slightly. Chloe’s purple locks were scooped up into a bun of sorts, not quite formal and not quite messy. Intricate small braids from the sides included delicate silver threads, the ends of Chloe’s hair were gelled into soft spikes that fanned out from the bun, almost like a crown. It was stunning, yet unusual, just like Chloe herself.

“Chloe, your hair is perfect for you.” Nicki grinned at her best friend.

“I know, I thought I would hate a formal up-do, but this is perfection. I love it Caroline, thank you so much.” Chloe grinned.

Excitement began to bubble in her stomach, as Caroline took out the case of professional make-up and set to work on Lacey first, as she needed to be finished before the Luna’s so that she could oversee the ceremony.

A few hours later, Chloe and Nicki stood together, Caroline had left them. Lacey was busy overseeing the preparations, and Cheryl was helping her.

“I cannot believe this, it is so amazing.” Nicki grinned.

“You look stunning Nicki, the creams and browns on your eyes make them pop and perfectly compliment the turquoise of your dress.” Chloe smiled at her friend.

“And you, she did an amazing job on your eyes. They are glamorous, but have an edge with the dark winged lines, the pale purple eyeshadow glistens and compliments you perfectly without overpowering your natural beauty.” Nicki complimented Chloe.

“Thank you Nicki, not just for your compliments, or because you are technically my sister-in-law, but because you are you, the perfect friend and companion. Someone I can truly trust and be myself with. I love you Nicki.” Chloe said, then hugged her best friend.

Lacey entered the room, then stood motionless.

“WOW! Seriously, the Alphas are going to be blown away tonight.” Lacey grinned, then with the door ajar she smiled at the girls before her, who were now stunning, courageous and powerful women in their own right.

“Some news. Hannah has ventured out of her cottage, we found her waiting in line for the bus we put on for the pack members. She said, and I quote, ‘no arthritis nor old age will stop me going, I have waited a long time for today, and now my vision’s are finally coming to pass’”

“Oh bless her, can we have one of the guest rooms on the Alpha floor made ready for her, so that she can stay tonight please?” Chloe ordered, happy Hannah was going to be at the ceremony.

“It is time.” Lacey announced as Chloe took a breath, knowing that for all the joy and celebration, someone somewhere was about to betray them.
