The Headmaster Alpha's Mate
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 111

Josh paced the corridor both hands behind his head, as Jerry whimpered softly inside him. A gut-wrenching fear was consuming both him and his wolf. It was his mate in that room, and his pup, their lives hanging in the balance. Cheryl sat on the seat next to Chloe, her shaking hands clasped together on her lap. Nothing could comfort her, not even knowing that her daughter and granddaughter were in the safe hands of her beloved mate, the person she trusted above any other, yet still she had a deep pit in her stomach as she watched the ticking clock an the wall, every second feeling like an hour.

Zander watched on feeling helpless as his brother continued to pace the floor, his own emotions overpowering and almost breaking free. After months of keeping his fraught emotions locked away from the outside world, he could not shake the feeling that was threatening to consume him. What if they all lost another pup? How would his brother cope? How would Chloe deal with that fresh influx of pain? How could he stand the grief that would hit him full force, and not allow the depression he had fought since the day they found out that his own pup had not survived the silver poisoning inflicted by that b***h Amanda Bines on his mate.

Having Phoenix had helped both him and Chloe so much, but this would be a new level of despair felt by pack member, of all three sister packs, if Josh and Nicki’s baby was lost to them. Zander was torn between trying to comfort his brother, when he knew there was nothing he could do or say at this moment in time would help him or comforting his mate who was trying to remain strong, just as he was. He could feel Chloe’s heartbreak through the mate bond, her emotions fragile as she relived her own grief from losing her pup.

“Comfort our mate, Zander.” Caesar whispered, his normal gruff voice, subdued.

Zander walked over and sat next to Chloe, gathering her into his arms, so her head rested on his chest. She sniffed in his scent, and he tilted his head down, so that her own unique smell could help bring about a peace to his fractured emotions.

The sounds of the fireworks, that welcomed in the new year echoed around the pack, shouts of “Happy New Year!” could be heard in the distance. Then the singing of ‘Auld Lang Sine’ filled the air.

“Happy new year everyone.” Chloe sighed.

Suddenly, the sounds of a baby’s cries broke through the thoughts of everyone gathered. Lacey let out a small sob.

“Thank God.” She whispered, as Josh ran towards the door.

“Not yet Josh, let them finish working on Nicki.” Zander warned, knowing that if his brother went inside the room, and saw Andrew still operating on Nicki, Jerry would freak out and cause a lot of damage.

A few moments later, Kitty walked out a wide smile on her face, cradled in her arms, wrapped in a pink blanket was a little girl, a mop of brown hair on her head, and she passed her over to Josh.

As soon as Josh held his daughter in his arms, his heart soared with pride. Jerry instantly calmed down.

“She is perfect.” Josh whispered, a single tear falling down his cheek.

“How is my Mate?” He quickly asked.

“She is all good, nearly stitched back up, the doctor will bring her round shortly.” Kitty beamed with joy. She felt so lucky that she had been able to help these wonderful Alpha’s who were polar opposites of what she had experienced in her past. Maybe life was good for omegas, these packs had shown her, that they need not live in fear any longer.

Josh nodded, his head, and cradled his little girl closer to his chest.

“Mammy won’t be long, little one.” He whispered to his daughter who was sleeping in his arms without a care in the world, happy and content.

Cheryl walked over to Josh, desperate to see her granddaughter.

“Can I take a look?” she gently asked, knowing full well, her son-in-law was not going to part with the baby any time soon.

“Yes, I do not want to offend anyone, but nobody holds her, until Nicki has.” Josh stated not wanting his baby to be passed around, before she had chance to meet her mother.

“We understand.” Chloe smiled and peaked at the sleeping baby.

“She is your image, Josh!” Chloe declared.

Zander clapped him on the back, a smile on his face, as relief washed over his body.

“She is perfect, and Chloe is right, she is just like you, only prettier and nicer.” Zander chuckled.

Robin looked at Lacey, his eyes wide with wonder.

“I know we said we would wait another fifty years or so, but babe, I really want one.” He grinned at her.

“Fifty years, will you be able to have a pup then?” Chloe asked, she was still not used to the lengthened life span of werewolves.

“Of course, I will only be 137, plenty of time.” Lacey grinned.

“What do you think?” Robin asked again, snuggling into Lacey.

“I think, let’s get this new year over, and after all is done with, and we overcome all the obstacles our belief’s will place in our way, we will make a decision then. I want our pups to live in a safe and secure world, where love and kindness trumps everything else.” Lacey smiled up at her mate, gently stroking his cheek with her hand.

Andrew walked out of the room, pulling off his green protective head covering.

“She is all good, I have reversed the anaesthetic, she should be awake in around twenty minutes or so, if you want to go sit with her.” He grinned at Josh.

“Thank you, Andrew, I am sorry I tried to fight with you at every given opportunity.” Josh apologised.

“Actually, you were not bad at all, I expected far worse, you did really well.” Andrew reassured him.

“Now, a couple of things. The pup needs a course of antibiotics, that is why she has a small canular in her hand, so we can give them intravenously, because of her stress during labour. She is human, which we already knew, but her bloods have confirmed it. She will never have a wolf, I am unsure though if she will develop at a human rate or werewolf rate, given what happened during Nicki’s pregnancy.”

Josh nodded, then furrowed his brows together, and pulled the blanket a little to see his daughters hand bandaged up, a large plaster keeping the small plastic tube in place in her tiny hand.

“Does that hurt her?” he growled slightly.

“No, but even if it did, getting a bad infection would hurt a lot more in the long run.” Andrew informed him.

“Now, go sit with your mate.” Andrew dismissed Josh, then turned to Chloe and Zander.

“I am sorry Luna, but I doubt Nicki will make it to your wedding, let alone walk down the Aisle as your bridesmaid.” Andrew informed her.

“I know, but I really don’t want to put my wedding off either.” Chloe sighed, not sure what to do, she really wanted her best friend to walk before her, with Lacey, and of course Phoenix, as her bridesmaids.

“It will all work out as it should Chloe, try not to worry.” Lacey smiled at her.

Josh sat beside Nicki, holding their daughter in one arm, and his mate’s hand in the other, as they both peacefully slept. Just as Andrew had informed him, around twenty minutes later, Nicki fluttered her eyes open.

“Where is my baby?” She demanded, her voice laced with fear.

“She is right here.” Josh grinned down at her, placing a soft k**s on her forward, then laid the baby on the bed beside her, so she could gaze down at her.

“Is she okay?” Nicki sighed, a tear falling from her eye.

“Yes, she is perfect. Andrew has her on antibiotics, but other than that she is perfection, just like her mammy.” Josh grinned with pride.

Nicki looked down at her baby, her tears turning into the widest smile, as wave after wave of pure love washed over her.

“She is beautiful, so beautiful.” Nicky sighed.

“Although I do have to say, our daughter is a traitor, after all I went through, she looks like her Daddy.” She giggled.

“So, are we agreed on her name?” Josh smiled, as Nicki nodded her head.

“Can I let everyone in and formally introduce our daughter, the first Human Alpha Girl who will take over our pack when we pass it on?” Josh asked, his chest puffing up with pride at the thought of just how ground-breaking this would be, once she was of age.

“Definitely.” Nicki giggled.

Chloe sat next to Nicki in the large comfortable seat by her bed, as she finally got to get cuddles from her best friend’s daughter.

“Come on, we are all dying to know… What is her name?” Chloe asked.

“This is the first Human girl, with Alpha lineage, who will keep her place as first in line to take over the silverback pack as its Alpha when the time comes.” Josh announced with pride.

“Hannah Chloe Colton.” He grinned.

“Really, you have my name in hers?” Chloe asked with a smile, looking down at the baby in her arms.

“Yes, of course we have, and she is going to grow up just as kick a*s as both her name sakes.” Nicki giggled.

“I am sorry about missing your wedding tomorrow, Chloe.” Nicki sighed

“You mean today, in t- minus 12 hours.” Zander stated, then placed a k**s on the top of Chloe’s head.

The door to the delivery room suddenly opened.

“Never fear, Ethan is here, Cinderella, you shall go to the ball.” He grinned, then walked over to Nicki and placed his hand on hers.

Everyone watched in awe, as Ethan scrunched up his face in pain, wincing slightly. Then his mouth turned into the perfect O shape, as he whispered “Ouch.” And crossed his legs with a shudder as if to protect his groin area.

Finally opening his eyes, he looked at Nicki.

“Childbirth hurts, like, really, really hurts. I felt it right in my boy bits, OUCH!” He stated, as if that little fact was not fully understood.

“Anyway, you are fully healed, and I got your stretch marks as well.” Ethan chuckled giving his friend a cheeky wink.

Josh looked at the young man in disbelief, as Andrew walked over.

“I need to check her wounds.” He stated.

“Yes, but I don’t have any, Josh you go and get a coffee or something, whilst he examines me.” Nicki laughed.

Josh knew better than to argue, and went to the vending machine in the corridor, and pressed in the code of a black coffee. Taking a sip of the insipid liquid, he scrunched up his nose, for all this was a private pack hospital, the vending machine still produced coffee that tasted like water, and he wondered if he should start a petition to have it removed with a Nespresso machine instead.

“You can come back in.” Nicki mind linked with him, and he walked back into the room.

“So… it seems, you mate is fully healed from the birth and caesarean, guess you need to both get a few hours sleep whilst you can, then get into your wedding attire, because Nicki will be bridesmaid after all.” Andrew announced a large smile on his face.

Baby Hannah, woke up, and let out an ear-piercing scream, her head furiously going from side to side as she began rooting, attempting to find Nicki’s brest.

“Some one is hungry.” Cheryl laughed, as Nicki began to open her hospital gown to breast feed her baby.

Josh let out a low growl.

“Everyone, OUT!” he demanded, not happy that his mate, had not thought twice about getting her boob out in front of them, but his anger disappeared when he saw his beautiful daughter, suckling on his beautiful mate, as the world around them disappeared and they locked eyes together. Everyone else quickly and quietly left the new family to it, and headed back to the pack house, to grab a couple of hours sleep before they all needed to get ready for the wedding of the century.
