The Fall Of Lucian
Chapter 5

“I love you, Shery.” He kneels next to the bed. And I promise that I will cure you, whatever I have to do, I swear that I will save you,” he adds, to which she looks at him sweetly.

—I won’t get you to give up, will I?

-No.

—Ethan, I wish you were by my side these days. Please don’t leave me alone.

—I give you my word that I won’t delay almost anything, I’ll be back before you know it. And best of all, it will be with good news.

—Ethan —Her eyes watered more, even crying caused her so much pain, the pressure on her head was unbearable, but she did not have the courage to confess the truth about her condition.

—Shhh…

Ethan k****s her pale and dry lips tenderly, they both close their eyes and when the k**s ends, they bring their foreheads together.

The wolf faithfully believed that it was not a farewell, he promised that he would return with the cure and he would… “

I love you, Ethan… I will always love you, even when I am no longer physically in this world,” he tells him between sobs.

—No, no, don’t say goodbye. Please don’t do it, my love.

The alpha moves away from her a little, gently cups her cheeks and stares at her.

—Don’t say goodbye, because you will see me again. Did you understand? Hold on, Shery, I know I’m asking a lot of you, but you must do it.

“Yes,” she whispers in an almost audible voice.

—I’ll leave right now, I’m not going to waste my time.

He k****s her lips once more and stands up. He looks at her a moment longer and feels her heart tighten in her chest.

—Ethan…

—I’ll be back, it’s a promise.

Shery watches him leave and sheds more tears, possibly that would be the last time she spoke with her husband and tasted his lips. He touches her lips, and she closes her eyes, she was so exhausted.

—Father, how is my mother?

—Go keep her company, she feels bad.

—It’s okay—The young woman runs towards the stairs—. Adara, I will leave for the mountain right now —His daughter stops and looks at him —Your uncle will stay in charge, and you will help him, as the alpha’s daughter you have obligations to the pack.

—Yes father, I will.

—Take good care of yourself, daughter, and take care of your mother.

She nods and watches her father leave the house. The brunette bites her lips and then she goes upstairs to see her mother.

Once the alpha left everything in order, he set out for the mountains. If he followed exactly the instructions that Eren gave him, he would find that witch sooner than expected.

The alpha wolf jumps and immediately transforms… he looks back, observing his home from afar. He hoped that nothing would happen during his absence… Ethan races straight to Witch Mountain.

While Bardas organized a squad of the best wolves that he had been training, whom he intended to take with him on his journey. He was aware that the beta of the blue moon pack was strong, but extra help wouldn’t hurt.

Other than that, he was going to be away a lot, and the wolves needed training. For that reason he decided to take them with him.

-When you go?

—Tonight, father.

—Your mother is not very happy with your departure, but she understands that you want to protect your moon.

“I won’t do anything wrong, father, don’t worry.” The young man smiles.

—Unless she wants it.

Eren sits on the edge of her son’s bed, looks at that place and remembers when he was just a naughty little boy. One who was now about to leave his pack. Not long, but she would do it.

—Since you will be there, you will have much more responsibility than here. Those people will depend on you, Bardas. You are the prince, therefore you will be like the alpha of those wolves.

—I will do everything I can to protect them, father. I won’t let you down.

—In that case—He stands up—. I’ll go look for your little sister, your mother told me that she has been hiding since this morning and she can’t find her.

—Very good, father —The boy smiles.

After a few minutes, a little girl with a mischievous smile enters Bardas’ room. The wolf smells her sister’s scent and smiles.

—Dad is looking for you, you shouldn’t hide like that, Valek.

—They will never learn to find me, if they are always guided by my scent. —The girl lies down on her brother’s bed.

—The fact that you can hide your essence does not give you the right to hide it from our parents.

—Well, it’s a gift I inherited. They must learn to find me without needing to smell me. What kind of parents are they?

—You are a naughty girl.

—I heard that you are leaving the castle, because you have found your girlfriend.

—You are very lively for being 8 years old.

The young woman smiles mischievously. She sits up in bed and looks towards the door, she could smell her father approaching her, it was clear that she had smelled her scent when she stopped hiding.

—Dad’s coming…

—For your sake, it’s better if you don’t get into any more pranks.

—Yes, okay, I’ll let you pack in peace.

The girl stands up and walks to the door, a couple of seconds later, Bardas hears her father’s reprimand towards his sister. The boy denies, and believes that this girl would be his parents’ headache.

After finishing packing his things, the young man, accompanied by his wolf, headed to the forest. If they quickened their pace, they would reach the blue moon very soon. Since Bardas decided that everyone would make the trip in their human form.

For better training…

Climbing the mountain was becoming difficult, it was very steep, and the sharp rocks made the climb more cumbersome. Ethan stops for a moment, and sees above that peak that he had to reach.

He only needed very little…

The wolf gained strength and began to jump up, he believed that it was the most advantageous way to climb. And in fact that was the case, going up in a traditional way did not work. But by jumping from rock to rock, he made it to the top in a matter of nothing.

By then, it had already gone completely dark. He could not continue advancing in the darkness, and it was best that he stop, since once he crossed the imposed limit he would no longer be able to eat or drink anything.

He had to wait, feed well, to continue the next day.

The alpha observes what was behind that mountain, although it was very dark, he could see a valley, which he assumed would be difficult to cross. Maybe it took him two or three days that trip.

[…]

Before dawn bloomed, the wolf ate the last piece of meat he had hunted the night before. Continuing in his wolf form, Ethan had not broken any rules. Having a stomach full of food and water, the wolf was ready to continue that morning after a long rest.

Once he crossed that place, there was no turning back… slowly, he entered the road, when a breeze hit his body. The fur on his body instantly bristled, his senses went into alarm.

—“It’s dangerous, Ethan. You must be very careful where you step”—His inner wolf tells him.

—“I can feel it, this place is a place of care”

—“Be alert”

They both followed a path, and although it had only dawned in a few minutes, that path remained in darkness. It was as if the sun didn’t rise on that part of the road. A thick fog lay on the surface of the ground, preventing him from seeing where he was stepping.

He did not want to rush, one wrong step could cost him his life. So he opted to go slowly, even though that would take away his wife’s time.

—“We need to return alive, not half dead” —Expresses her wolf.

They continued advancing, when suddenly, a strong pain settled in the wolf’s front leg. Both Ethan and his wolf cried out in pain, they remained motionless, in turn he raised his paw, taking it out of the thick fog.

It is there when they realize that a huge bone thorn was stuck in his paw. It crossed the wolf’s enormous paw to the other side.

—“Shit, we’re hurt” —Ethan shouts.

—“We must get it out”

With his teeth, the wolf managed to extract that sharp weapon. And as he did so, several drops of b***d came out of the hole in his paw that was already beginning to heal.

The crimson liquid fell on the ground, and was quickly absorbed by it, but Ethan did not notice it. Seconds later, all the fog dispersed as if someone had blown it all the way.

Ethan looked carefully at the entire path, and it was covered by hundreds of huge thorns like the ones that entered his paw.

—“We have to move forward”

They continued advancing, and since the road was clear of the fog, they could see better where they were going. However; That didn’t mean they were safe from danger.

Every time they went further into the track, the thorns increased. They went from being only on the ground to growing considerably. The thorns tore Ethan’s fur as the path became narrower, yet he continued forward without anything stopping him.

Those measly wounds wouldn’t stop him, and since they healed on their own, there were no problems. As long as he kept his forces intact, he would advance.

Dripping b***d galore, the alpha advanced a good stretch of the road. But upon reaching the end of that thorny path, he realizes that he had to make a stop.

Thirsty, Ethan looks at what was in front of him. In order to continue walking, he had to cross a tunnel of thorns. Its circle was quite narrow; if he got in, the thorns would end up sticking into his body.

It was suicide…!

There was no other way to continue. Either he entered, or Shery died
