The Billionaire’s Hidden Heiress -
Chapter 147
Flair POV
"I now pronounce you husband and wife" I hold back tears as Rachel and Timothy kiss at the front of the rose arbor, my hands clutching the bouquet of white roses in hand while Grayson stands at Timothy's side, looking handsome in his suit, beaming proudly. They make a beautiful couple. Rachel is glowing, her stomach protruding proudly in the maternity wedding dress I designed. My own dress is a pastel violet hue, also maternity. Both of us are about ready to pop and Rachel has never looked happier. I'm overcome with emotion as I look at her, my eyes swelling with tears. "Congratulations," I tell her huskily as she turns to face me, hugging her tight, or as tight as two pregnant women can
manage.
"Thank you" she whispers, her own voice breaking "for everything Flair."
Timothy is busy shaking Grayson's hand. The crowd begins to disperse, heading towards the restaurant where the reception is going to be.
I wince as I feel the persistent twinging pain in my back and for the first time, Rachel notices, her eyes widening as she eyes me with concern.
"Are you okay?" she asks glancing at me.
"I'm not going to be able to make it to the reception" I smile ruefully as Grayson and Timothy join us.
"Oh," Rachel is dismayed and so is Timothy "Are you unwell?"
I had badly wanted to attend. "I'm in labor," I say quietly as Grayson's eyes widen and he steps towards me.
"Flair" Rachel shouts indignantly "why didn't you say something?"
"I wasn't about to disrupt your wedding" I protest.
She looks angry enough to pop out her own child right then and there "We could have postponed" she growls.
"No" I protest, as Grayson takes hold of my arm "you've waited long enough. It was a beautiful ceremony..." I trail off as my water promptly breaks in front of everybody. s**t.
I let out a cry. Grayson swiftly swoops me up in his arms. I spot Knox and lan walking towards me, along with my father, with looks of worry on their faces. "She's in labor" Grayson shouts and Knox shakes his head at me.
"Get her in the car. An ambulance will take too long" he instructs Grayson "I brought an SUV. Had a feeling it might be needed" he muttered while I tried not to take offense.
We both knew he'd brought it so he could slip away whenever he wanted instead of being forced to wait for Father and lan to be ready to leave.
"I'll come too," Rachel said determinedly but I shook my head.
"You can't ignore your guests, I'll call you" I grimaced and let out a cry of pain, as Rachel gritted her teeth and was forced to watch Grayson stride away with me in his arms. "Fine, but I'm not happy" Rachel shouted dramatically.
I giggled despite the pain. Grayson groaned. "You should have said something" he muttered.
I looked at him innocently "You wouldn't have let me be the maid of honor if I did" I pointed out wisely.
Knox rolled his eyes as he led us to the SUV. "We're all going," he said before I could argue, my father and lan already climbing into the limo beside it, bodyguards included. Grayson got me into the back and flung himself in. Knox got in as well and a bodyguard got in the front seat.
"Drive" Knox instructed, kneeling beside me and taking my hand while Grayson took the other one. "Does it hurt?"
I glared at them both "Yes" I snapped.
What a stupid question. Men. I squeezed their hands hard and had the satisfaction of seeing them both wince. "Take it easy Flair" Knox murmured, "save the anger for Grayson, he's the one who got you into this situation." Grayson glared at him indignantly. I fought back my laughter, another moan coming from my lips instead as another contraction began. "Ow," I cried.
"Not long now Flair and we'll be there" Grayson assured me, looking pale-faced.
My poor violet dress was ruined I thought staring down at it abysmally. I sighed. It was a stupid thing to worry about at a time like this.
The hospital was in sight. Knox practically leaped from the car and came back with a swarm of nurses. I guess that's the perks of being a Grant and going to a private one. I was immediately taken to a private room and placed on a comfortable bed. I requested an epidural. There was no way I was going to try and be a hero and have the baby naturally. I wanted the pain gone and I wanted it gone now. A few minutes later and the entire lower half of my body was pleasantly numb. I sighed feeling relaxed as Grayson held onto my hand and my brothers and father sat in the room.
"Maam are you comfortable with all these men in the room?" a nurse dared to ask.
I glared at her. "As long as my v****a is covered by a blanket I'm fine. Besides you should be asking if they feel comfortable. I'm sure they don't want to see their sister or daughter's privates on display" I said grumpily.
The nurse blushed bright red. Knox laughed and lan flushed. My father merely coughed in amusement. I wanted them all here for this. They were family. The nurse wisely did not say anything else as she continued to monitor my baby and my vitals. "You're doing so good sweetheart" Grayson whispered, sitting next to me.
"You're almost fully dilated. You need to be ready to push. I can let you know when it's time."
I might have overdone it on the epidural and pressed the button to keep myself numb, I thought a little amused. The doctor was nice though and when it was time to push, I pushed hard, Grayson at the base of the bed with the doctor so that the rest of them couldn't see anything they weren't supposed to.
"Push."
I pushed. I Panted and fell back against the bed. This was nothing like the movies where the baby literally looked like it fell out of the woman. It felt like every time I pushed, the baby slipped back in. It was quite irritating really. I was ready to strangle the doctor who kept telling me to push.
"Push" the doctor encouraged as I glared at her.
"I am pushing" I snarled.
Gone was the friendly Flair and a monster had been put in her place. Grayson looked a little taken aback but squeezed my hand. "Come on honey, you can do it."
He should try it then, I thought sourly. I took a deep breath and pushed on the next contraction, bearing down with all my weight.
"Your baby is crowning," the doctor said with delight "Come on Flair another large push" she urged.
I groaned as I pushed again. I felt the baby as it was born and heard Grayson's sharp intake of breath. Heard the sound of its little cry as the nurse quickly began to check it over.
"Is my baby okay?" my voice shakes slightly.
The nurse brings the baby wrapped in a blanket, over to me and holds the child out, placing them in my arms. "You have a beautiful baby boy," she says smiling.
"Yes" Knox fist pumps the air while Grayson groans and I laugh.
The nurse looks confused but smiles and walks away. I glance down at my son, in awe. He has such delicate little features, tiny hands, blue eyes, and a dark fuzzy bit of hair on top. He is staring at me as though he's fascinated and then he begins to bob his head around as though looking for something.
"He's hungry" the doctor advises while my father and brothers look on in fascination.
At that they turn their heads away as I lower the gown to b****tfeed, placing the blanket discreetly up to cover myself. "You can look," I say wryly and they turn back.
My father's eyes are glistening with tears. "He's beautiful."
Grayson is staring at our son, a tear trailing down his cheek. Knox and lan stare down in awe.
"A son" Grayson whispers hoarsely "For some reason..."
"You thought it might be a girl," I said gently "but we have a son Grayson."
He nods. Knox smiles triumphantly. "I knew it," he says with a chuckle "Looks like I'm calling in that favor" he adds smugly as Grayson sighs in resignation.
"I did warn you," I told him amused while lan just shook his head.
"I need a name for the birth certificate," the nurse says sweetly as Grayson and I look at each other.
"We came up with a suitable name in case it was a boy" I laughed "Hunter Knox Grant."
"It suits him," Knox says still smug.
"When are you going to learn not to ask favors from him" my father says with a sigh shaking his head "Next he'll want lan to name his child after him."
"Not happening" lan growls glaring at his brother "Never ever. Grayson was naive, I'm not."
"You all say that" Knox shrugs "but in the end, you'll need me."
I laugh. The baby stops feeding and I gently detach him. Grayson eagerly takes him from me, holding him lovingly. "He's beautiful" he whispers as Knox reaches out and touches the baby's cheek.
"He is," I said quietly "and he's going to be loved by his Uncles and Grandfather" I added looking around at everyone. "The things I'm going to be able to teach him" Knox's voice is keen.
I look at him sharply "Knox, no. Normal Uncle things" I say sternly, watching as his face falls "The same goes for you, lan." "As if I was going to do anything different" lan scoffs, before Grayson offers our son to my father to hold.
"One day both of you are going to have your own children," I say as I lean back against the bed "and I'll get to be an Aunty. Won't that be nice" I say as Grayson leans over and kisses me tenderly on the forehead, my mouth opening up in a yawn.
"Keep dreaming sis," Knox says, gently patting me on the foot "I think that train has well and truly left the station." "You'll find someone," I tell him indignantly but he looks unconvinced as does lan.
I sigh. Both of them could be so loving at times but neither of them had ever been in a serious relationship. They were so reluctant when it came to love or maybe they were turned off by the thought of it. It made me sad. They were good men and they deserved to find the kind of love I had found with Grayson. I just hoped that one day they would and that I would be lucky enough to be there when they did. I looked at my husband and smiled, content in my life and grateful to have found the kind of love I thought only existed in fairytales. It had been a hard road, but I was finally happy and the future looked bright.
