Anna's POV

It's almost midnight but I still can't sleep.

I was not drowsy so I thought of drinking cold water first.

After a while, the door suddenly opened and I saw Thea enter.

"Oh, are you still awake?" She asked in shock. I nodded and immediately took his place.

"I thought you could come home tomorrow?"

"We're done with the work. There's a beauty contest in our company Anna. And guess what?" excited she promised.

"What?"

"The prize is so big. If I'm with you, I will join the contest," she replied.

I laughed softly.

"You know I don't know anything about that."

"Unfortunately, you're beautiful and smart. I'm sure you'll win there."

"You're still joking. I know I'm beautiful but there are also many beautiful in the world, and I don't know about such things, including make-up, wearing high heels and so on. I'm sure I'll lose there." "You're so killjoy. Just try it, please."

"Only you can join," I promised.

"You're better than me so you should join," she replied.

"When is that?"

"All right, let's go to sleep because it's not comfortable to stay up late," I said and walked towards my room.

"Good night," I said before finally entering the room.

I immediately lay down on the bed and was forced to sleep.

I also looked up at the ceiling for a few hours and gradually fell asleep.

The next morning, I left early to head to Bentrix Corporation.

There are only a few employees and Sir Drake is not there yet.

I'm busy organizing documents. Suddenly someone called my name.

I immediately turned in that direction and was surprised to see Lance.

He's wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts but he looks so handsome. "Good morning young lady," he opened up to me.

"Good morning, did you get a visit? Sir Drake isn't here yet," I promised.

"He's not the one I came here for."

"Who?" I wondered.

"You, do you want to come with me tonight?"

"For what?"

"It's my day," he promised with a smile. My eyes widened.

"Omg for real?" I wondered. He nodded. "Happy birthday!" I promised and I hugged him

"Thank you, so you're free tonight, the celebration will be held at home, and Drake and my friend are also coming," he said. I thought for a moment. "Ahm... Sure, but I'm worried I might not get on," I replied shyly.

"No problem, I'll pick you up."

"That's cool."

"So, see you tonight?"

"Yeah," I replied.

"Did you eat breakfast already?" he asked as he watched me do what I was doing.

"Yes. I ate before leaving the condo," I replied. I was going to lift the coupon bond bundle but he offered to lift it.

He stayed with the company for a few more minutes before finally saying goodbye because he still had an important walk.

He said he would pick me up here later. I agreed because it was embarrassing to refuse, it's his birthday today.

A few minutes passed and the employee arrived as well. Later I saw Sir Drake enter his office.

"Anna, can I give it to Sir Drake? Miss Merly is signing it," Elsa said.

"All right," I replied and picked it up. I knocked first on the door of Sir Drake's office before entering.

"Good morning Sir," I opened. But he was talking on his cellphone so I just laid the papers on his desk.

I was about to leave when he suddenly spoke.

"What is this?" he asked as he looked at the papers.

"Miss Merly is giving it away," I replied. He nodded so I left immediately.

What's his problem?

Why does he seem unwilling to look at me?

Am I wearing ugly?

The time passed and I did not expect to see Ma'am Celeste at the working station. She is wearing a short dress that is only up to her legs, she will love what she is wearing because Gucci is her clothing brand. She looked so good, she walked straight into Drake's office.

Suddenly I shrank to myself. I'm not organized and I'm not comfortable in short clothes.

What is it I'm thinking?

I continued to fix it. Later on, Elsa approached my habit.

"Hey Anna, did you see Celeste? What she's wearing is from Sir Drake, I guess," she said weakly.

I did not answer.

After all, Elsa is right in saying that Sir Drake can replace Celeste if he wants to, but why does he prefer to fool around with that woman?

After all, I don't know who mediates between the two of them.

Why do I even think about these things?

"Anna! Where are your papers? Has Sir Drake already signed them," Elsa later asked?

"I haven't got it yet...I'll take a moment," I replied and walked towards the door of Sir Drake's office. I knocked and immediately entered.

My eyes widened when I saw Sir Drake and Miss Celeste kissing.

"I-I'm s-sorry," I said and immediately turned away.

"What do you need?" Celeste asked.

"I'll just take those papers that Sir Drake signed," I replied and slowly faced him.

They are still in that position.

"Take it," Celeste said so I quickly walked over to Sir Drake's desk and picked up the papers. I immediately left his office.

I don't know why I feel so heavy.

My body seemed depressed because of what I saw.

After all, I shouldn't have them.

I touched my chest and I was slowly getting depressed.

Wait! Why am I acting like this?

What does this mean?

Am I jealous?

I regret that I saw that.

More hours and minutes passed. The sun was slowly setting.

I had just seen Miss Celeste come out of the office, but I had not yet noticed Sir Drake come out of her office.

The other employees also left. I grabbed my bag and started walking out of the working station.

I went outside the company and stood on the side to wait for Lance, as we talked he was supposed to pick me up today.

A little later a black car parked in front of me.

Lance immediately went down. He immediately approached me.

"Hello, sorry I took so long," he said while smiling.

"It's okay," I promised without emotion.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just a little tired," I replied.

"Oh, Drake! What's up? Don't forget to come tonight," I turned behind me when Lance said that.

I saw Drake leaving the company.

"Yeah! Happy birthday, dude," he replied and tapped Lance on the shoulder. I stayed where I was while silent.

I caught him staring at me but I immediately averted my gaze.

"Are you going too?" I didn't expect him to ask.

I nodded while my gaze was still focused below.

"Ahm... See tonight, we're leaving," Lance said, "let's go?" he turned to me.

Lance and I had already walked to his car but Drake suddenly spoke.

"Ahm... Where are you guys going?" he asked in surprise. We turned our attention to him. It has no expression and waits for Lance's answer. "Can I join?" he said weakly and scratched his neck. "What?" laughed Lance. "Seriously dude? We're not going anywhere, I'll just deliver Anna," Lance added and couldn't stop laughing.

"Ah is that so? Okay, see you tonight," he replied.

"It's a night swimming party Drake, don't forget to wear your special trunks to attract more girls," Lance joked.

"Tsk... Yeah."

"I also invite Celeste, don't be late," Lance said before he opened the door for me.

Eventually, he got in the car and started operating it.

All of a sudden I caught a glimpse of Drake's behavior, it was still standing where he was.

Drake's car slowly moved forward. I was shocked when Drake suddenly smiled and waved at me.

I was not able to respond to what he did because our car was moving fast.

"How's your day?" Lance suddenly asked as his gaze focused on the road.

"It's kinda busy but it's okay."

"Good, I forgot to ask you something."

"What is it?"

"Can y-you b-be my d-date tonight?" he stuttered the question. I thought for a moment before answering.

"Sure, but why me? There are many others out there?"

"You know... There's nothing compared with you," he said with a smile, my whole body stiffened and I gradually felt the warmth of my cheek.

"You're really funny Lance."

"I'm serious here. You're gorgeous Anna."

I did not answer. A few minutes later we arrived at Thea's condo.

"Thank you for picking me up," I promised.

"You're welcome, I'll pick you up later. Thanks for accepting my invitation," he said smiling.

I just smiled and nodded.

"Ahm... I'll go first," I let out.

He nodded, waiting for me to enter the condominium before leaving.

When I entered the condo, Thea immediately appeared to me.

"Oh, you're here. How's your work?" She asked. She is now sitting on the sofa holding a bowl full of popcorn and watching-wait cartoons?!

"Seriously Thea? Cartoons?" I laughed and sat down next to him.

"Why? I like cartoons," she replied.

"By the way, Lance invite me, it's his birthday today so I didn't refuse," I said.

"It's nice. You can have fun, what's the theme of the party?" She asked in surprise.

"Night swimming, I guess."

"Are you going to wear anything?"

"I'm okay with a t-shirt and simple shorts," I replied. His eyes widened and he stared at me seriously.

"Seriously Anna? You should wear a bikini," she asked.

My eyes widened.

"What? I'm not wearing that, I'm not comfortable."

"I'll just take care of you," she said and quickly entered her room.

Later it came out with a lot of clothes.

Wait! There are bikinis too.

"What the fuck Thea. Will you let me wear this? It's too short," I said while holding a short dress.

"That's not what you're going to wear, it's a swimming party so your swimsuit should be nice," she said and chose another dress for me.

We took a few more hours and we were done with the selection.

"Are you sure about this? I can't seem to wear it, Thea," I said hesitantly while holding on to a red swimsuit.

I have never worn this before. But nothing will be lost if I try.

"Pretty sure. I'm sure they'll all look at you when that's what you're wearing," she replied.

I bought a white t-shirt and simple shorts first. I'll just change at Lance's house.

I won't be there long either because I still have work tomorrow.

Later, there was a knock on the door. Thea and I are currently chatting in the dining area.

"I'll open it," Thea pretended and quickly went to the door to open it.

"Anna! Here's your pick," she shouted. I hurried to the door.

"Hi, I'm Lance, please to meet you," Lance introduced to Thea. They shook hands.

"I'm Althea, Anna's best friend. You took her in full, so you should bring her back here in full as well," Thea threatened.

"Yeah, I promised," Lance replied. "Let's go?" it's turning on me.

"Thea, we're leaving," I promised. She nodded and smiled.

"Bye, enjoy." That's it and Lance and I started walking out of the condominium.
