Chapter 36

Drake's POV

After I took Anna to her condo, I immediately went to see Mercedes.

I immediately entered the thick forest. Sometime later I was close in the house of Mercedes when I did not expect to hear her conversation with Marcus. "How is he set to prophesy? He doesn't know things anymore?" I heard Marcus promise.

"We will not dictate fate Marcus, he was chosen to defend us all," Mercedes replied.

"Why is he still? We don't know if he's an Alpha. Yes, his father is alpha but we can't be sure he's an Alpha. As far as I can see he's even weaker than a beta."

"Don't say that Marcus, we don't know what power he has-"

'According to the problem mom, we don't know if she can protect us," it cuts.

Suddenly my whole body weakened because of what I heard. It's true what Marcus said, I'm just a normal werewolf. I know dad's trusted leader, he's the Alpha who leads most werewolves.

I don't know but it was like there was something in myself and I suddenly fainted.

I was about to step away when I heard Mercedes speak.

"You think I didn't think of that the first time Marcus? I wouldn't teach him what I know if I saw he had no potential to defend us. When you were training, I noticed his eyes change. It turned red but in an instant, it also changed immediately. Don't you think that's one of the signs that he's an Alpha?"

"I don't know mom," I heard Marcus answer, soon it came out of the house and our gazes met.

"Mom, Drake is here," he said and immediately transformed into a werewolf and ran fast.

I was left stunned in front of Mercedes 'wooden house.

Soon Mercedes came out and stared at me without emotion.

"Are you still there?" she asked in surprise. I jumped. "When you sign Marcus, he's just worried about what might happen in the future," she explained.

"He was right Mercedes... I have no potential to defend our race," I said softly. She approached me and stared into my eyes.

"I trust you, Drake. Your dad trusts you too. Don't be discouraged, whatever you hear today just doesn't understand. Come inside and let's talk about what happened to you yesterday," she replied and smiled broadly. He entered their house first and I immediately followed.

I sat down in front of the table and she started again to arrange black sand. She took a knife and no doubt applied it to her hand. Her blood dripped on the sand.

'Show Drake's dad's dedication that he's the next Alpha," he uttered that word the sand suddenly smoked and emitted thick and black smoke and gradually revealed the image.

I saw in the image dad carrying a baby, mom was smiling as she watched me while riding behind dad. There were so many werewolves in front of dad, they were all different colors. After a while, dad growled and the other werewolves growled one after another.

One by one dad bowed in front of them, while I smiled as I watched them.

Eventually, the smoke gradually disappeared. Mercedes approached me and held my hand.

"You're the set Drake, prove you can. Don't be discouraged," it said.

Anyway, if dad and Mercedes trust my ability. I also had to believe in what I could do. It's not bad if I try and at least I won't be called a coward.

'I'm just going somewhere Mercedes," I let go. I quickly got up and left the house.

I quickly ran to where Marcus had come from earlier.

It was dark all around because it was midnight.

The chirping of crows and quails can be heard here in this forest. I just followed the smell of Marcus and soon I found myself in a broken house. I saw Marcus next to the logs with some men.

"Marcus!" I grab his attention.

"Looks like we have a visitor," said one.

"Isn't he the son of the Xillzion destined for prophecy?" one wondered.

I casually walked towards where they were.

"Can we talk Marcus?"

"I'm not in the mood to talk right now Drake. Go home," he replied.

Shit! How do I start it?

"I need your help to fight the prophecy," I promised.

Annoyed I turned to one as it suddenly laughed softly.

"Aren't you the one assigned?" hesitant question of a black man with stature.

I nodded.

'I am Berg, he is Sil, Hanz, Val, and Yuri," he introduced to his colleague.

"No matter how you were assigned, I don't feel any special power in you," Hanz later said. His arm was crossed as he stared at me seriously.

"Just slow down Hanz's speech," Sil replied.

Berg grinned and examined my whole being.

"How can you be called Alpha like your father if you don't have even an ally," he said.

Gradually the anger rose throughout my body.

"That's enough," Marcus replied, "you go home Drake," he added.

'I'm not leaving here until I've proven myself worthy," I solemnly promised.

"If you're set. Fight us," I didn't expect Val to reply.

'I don't accept a challenge without a replacement," I replied smiling.

"When you knock us down six before morning. We'll join you and we'll help you with everything," Yuri replied. Everyone agreed, as did Marcus. "But you will find us one by one here in the forest and knock us out one by one to make the fight fair. Is that okay with you?"

"If that's the way I can show that I'm worthy, I'm willing."

"In that case, before morning comes you go on top of that rock after you knock us out, but if you don't. One of us will go to that rock and make a signal that you lose," Berg explained.

Later Marcus handed me a handkerchief.

"Let's start this," Berg said and I started to put on the handkerchief, and one by one they ran away.

I heard different crackles in different directions. I struggled to check which direction they were going but I was distracted by the various chirps of the animals around me.

A few seconds later I removed the handkerchief that covered my eyes and looked for them one by one.

I made sure I memorized the smell of their blood so that I could easily find them.

None of my own ran left. I took a strange step when I immediately saw Berg at the top of the tree.

"You didn't hide what?" smiling I promise.

"I want to be the first to meet you, I will test your abilities," he said and immediately jumped towards me.

It's a good thing he wasn't that fast because I avoided him. Her eyes began to turn yellow and her nails became sharp.

I also wasted no time and immediately rushed.

I unleashed a blow to his stomach but to my great surprise, he did not even feel any pain.

"You're still weak!" he shouted and quickly took one of my hands and in an unexpected event, he immediately picked me up and threw me into the big tree.

I hit my back which gave me a lot of pain.

"Ah !!" I moaned while still lying on the ground.

'Not only is the brain used against Drake, you learn to strengthen and feel the strength you have," it walks closer to me.

Shit! I'm in a bad mood.

"Just imagine that you have to save the one you love in life so that the real power you have can come out." Suddenly that Mercedes term registered in my brain. The movement around seemed to slow down.

Gradually I felt the warm power rise all over my body.

I can feel the redness of my eyes.
