I could feel the atmosphere in the room change slightly after the talk but when Alpha Josh and Todd walked in everyone had blank expressions on their faces.

The last time they were here was when Kelsey was here, causing her usual s**t.

“Sorry for interrupting,” says Alpha Josh and he looks at everyone but settles on my mate “Brooke, it is so nice to see you once again.”

Brooke nods at him with a small smile.

Alpha Josh walks in and takes a seat in front of my father and mother “When we were coming in we could smell rogues, they are around but they are everywhere around the outskirts of the territory” he says.

I could feel Brooke tense slightly by the side of me.

Alpha Josh looks at her “Don’t worry Brooke, they ran when they spotted us coming but I think they are closer to the pack than you know” he says and turns to my mother “I did what you asked and the old man gave me the documents of the old pack grounds. There were a few rogues posted at the entrance of each tunnel entry” he says.

I can’t help but growl “What is he talking about? What are we going to do?” I ask turning to face my father.

My father looks at me “I told your mother about Alfred coming in and out of the territory” he said “She mentioned to me about the tunnels from back in the day so I asked Alpha Josh as he was on his way here to check them out for us, your mother emailed over the plans of the grounds to him.”

“Your father wanted us to search and make sure they were in no use,” said Todd from the side of me “We killed the rogues that were guarding the entrance and also placed two of our men at each entry point.”

Todd looks at me and then at Brooke “You are one special lady” he says suddenly which makes Brooke move closer to me.

“I think you are scaring my mate,” I say through gritted teeth.

Todd looks between the both of us and smiles “I might be a ruthless wolf but I would never separate a special bond but she is special, I can sense it within her” he says.

Alpha Josh smiles “You see after our encounter here, we got talking about a few tales that our mother used to tell us about her home,” he says “She was a Fae who was mated to a wolf.”

I can’t believe my eyes. They are part Fae.

Alpha Josh looks at me and smiles. “We are part Fae but I am more my mother’s side then my brother, he followed our father more,” he says but his eyes go back to Brooke “The stories of the Phoenix used to be our favorite most of all.”

I can feel a slight shift within Brooke and I know instantly that Willow is forward which makes me smirk slightly.

“You have some nerve mentioning that in front of us,” she says in a hiss.

Alpha Josh and Todd stare back at Brooke with wide eyes but Alpha Josh recovers quickly “We won’t say anything about what you are; we came as soon as the alpha told us what was going on. Todd remembered about the stories that were told about your kind. Our mother loved telling them as she always thought many of her kind never met their true mates because they were in their own world instead of being here in this one.”

“Your mother sounds wise but we would like to keep it in this room about what we are,” says Willow.

Alpha Josh and Todd nod but they look towards Danica, who has been quiet throughout the whole thing. “We didn’t know about you though”, Alpha Josh says with wide eyes. “It is very rare that two of you are together unless you are…..” he says, but Willow hisses “Will you rein yourself in or I will do something that will make you hurt extremely.”

Alpha Josh looks back startled “I have no intention of hurting either of you,” he says “Your her mother I take it.”

Danica nods “I am but as Willow said stop talking about us please, we never know who could be listening,” she says.

My father clears his throat “I think we will all take our leave and come at this with fresh eyes later as we all need to have a plan in place” he says.

Everyone slowly disperses out of the room one by one, a few made apology’s to Brooke before they left but I could see my sister holding back slightly.

“Can I talk to Brooke?” she asks but turns to me “I mean just the two of us.”

Brooke nods but she looks up at me “I will see you back at my room” she mouths.

I can’t help but smile.

Daisy and Brooke leave then followed by my parents and Alpha Josh.

“Hudson can we talk,” says Todd from the side of me.

There was no one left inside the room now “Yeah, what about?” I ask him as we both take a seat on the couch.

Todd sighs “Kelsey has been in our cells since we left here until two days ago,” he says.

I feel slightly unease by this conversation but Todd continues “That b***h had the baby and it’s mine” he says through gritted teeth.

He looks over at me “She changed after the baby was born, she won’t be coming here to do anymore damage between Brooke and you” he says and sighs “I was telling her all about the tales my mother told us about the different shifters in the Fae world.”

Todd gets up off the couch and walks to the window.

“Kelsey did some reading up on some things,” he says “I didn’t think anything of it until she wanted to leave the territory. I didn’t allow her as I was still learning to trust her but through the mate bond I could feel she was hatching a plan of some kind or holding back” he says.

I don’t like where this is going, I can sense something.

I turn to face him; I could see his cold eyes through the window reflection. He looks back at me “I told her that I was leaving to go somewhere, not telling her about this trip that we were leaving but I told my brother that we needed to wait for a few hours as I wanted to know what she was doing” he says.

“His wolf is coming through the surface,” says Asher with a growl “Something happened his wolf is angry.”

I can feel Asher stepping closer but Todd carries on as his eyes flicker to his wolves and then back to his own.

“We followed Kelsey,” he says “She met up with a man, I never met him before but there is a photo of old pack members on the wall here as you walk into the pack house, I instantly recognized him,” he says and turns to face me.

“She was talking to him and I heard her tell him about phoenix shifters,” he says.

I can’t help the growl that slips through my mouth.

“What man?” I asked him.

Without a word, Todd walks to the door with me following him straight to the photo and he points straight to the man who made me believe in something that was a hoax tale about humans.

I couldn’t help but snarl.

“Alfred,” I say through gritted teeth.

Todd stares at the picture and growls “Phoenix’s are magnificent creatures, they are pure but powerful” he says next to me. “I killed my mate.”

I turned to look at him, but his face was blank. “I am ruthless as they say but I do have beliefs about my mother’s living and everything about their world which is sacred from everyone,” he says “I killed her because of that but now I am a single father to my son.”

“You killed her because of Brooke,” I say in shock.

Todd looks at me and gives me a small smile “I did, there is not many of her kind left but I knew she was special when we came here the first time.”

I nod.

I looked behind him to see Amy walking down the stairs, and her face was blotchy. She had been crying.

“Alfred was the one she spoke to, so he knows about what Brooke is” Todd says to me which makes me looks at him once again “I want to stay and find the son of a b***h who made my mate the way she was.”

I nod once again and walk towards Amy.

She looks at me and gives me a weak smile “What’s wrong” I ask her as she comes closer to me. I can see Shane running down the stairs straight to us “Amy you need to rest” he says as he reaches us.

I could feel Todd near watching and listening.

Amy’s eyes glisten and her tears come. “I just had a phone call of my uncle’s boss at the library,” she says in a weak voice. But she started to shake and lose it, Shane pulled her into him but he looked at both of us with a grim look. “Someone found her uncle dead, there was a mess and the room with Fae culture has disappeared,” he says with a snarl. “They murdered him for information about something.”

I growl loud.

“f**k” says Todd and looks at me “It has to do with that man that my mate was with, he must have found something.”

I can feel my anger grow inside me.

I want Alfred, I want him found and I want him dead.
