The Alpha's Exchanged Mate -
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 84
Authors POV…
The cloak he had on covered his entire frame, and he moved stealthily towards the path. Something had to be done to cover up his mess. How could she have gathered the courage to speak out? It’s been years, and one would have thought she had gotten over it. If anyone decided to believe her, that would be the definite end for him. His reputation and everything he had worked for over the years would be taken away from him right under his nose.
It was never his intention for things to turn out the way they did. He should have known she was a wild child. No one can blame him for how she turned out, but night howlers are emotional fools who would sympathize with a murderer if he knows how to tell a story. However, this was an entirely different case. He would not just be humiliated in front of the whole pack, but till the end of time, his entire generation would be spat on for committing such an abominable act. This wasn’t about him; it was for the future. He assured himself.
“And who do we have here?” The voice taunted, “Omega John Sinclair; it’s been a while.”
John watched with shady eyes, eyeing the figure hiding in the dark. He wouldn’t have ever thought of indulging in such a callous act, but it’s said desperate times call for desperate measures. If eliminating his daughter would make him save his face, then he would definitely do whatever it takes. He wasn’t going to go down with shame.
Glaring at the one he had called to help him fix his mess, he dipped his hand into the pocket of his cloak and handed what seemed like an envelope to him.
“Ensure to take care of it,” John warned.
The man muttered, “you know the only thing that would make me do anyone’s bid is this,” he raised the packet, lightly slamming it against his palm.
“Thanks.”
“You don’t need to thank me.” He grinned, staring at John for a split second. “I am amused though why would you want to kill your daughter and grandchild?”
“Probably if you mind your damn business, you won’t need to ask me that.” John growled.
The man sauntered back, wise enough to not get into a brawl with him. John Sinclair was known to be one of the strongest and most skilled Omega warriors. The last thing he would want to indulge in is a bloody fight. He already got what he wanted, and that was enough.
“Jared!” John called out to him, “do as you are told, don’t make me find you.” He threatened.
Watching Jared leave, John looked around to ensure no one was watching in a corner. His heart was heavy; he loved Sonia just like he did his pretty wife, Elena.
**FLASHBACK**
John was obsessed with Elena, and he knew it. He would daydream about her and o****m just at the mere mention of her name. Whenever he made love to her, it was heavenly. He would rather lose everything than lose her. However, death proved itself to be stronger than his resolve, and it took her away from him. He watched as Sonia moved around the house with an unintentional gait that reminded him of his beloved wife.
He felt unfairly treated by the moon goddess. She gave him a second daughter who had no wolf and earned the family a demeaning title, then his wife got taken away from him.
He smacked his lips together as he watched his young daughter again. She looked so much like her mother that it drove him crazy.
Anyone would have sworn she was Elena reincarnated. Shaking the thoughts off his mind, he went into his room to lay for the day. However, he couldn’t find sleep. Not thinking twice, he stood up and headed straight to Sonia’s room.
She laid out on the bed with nothing but a transparent lacy singlet. Almost as if she knew of his coming, all he saw was Elena. And the excitement of his wolf only made it intense.
Trailing his hands on her leg, she jolted from her sleep.
“Papa,” Sonia called out, looking frightened.
“Shhhh…” He hushed her. “This would be quick, I promise.”
And that was how it started.
**PRESENT DAY**
He buried his head in the bathtub filled with water, feeling some odd sensation all over him. He had intended for it to stop, but his wolf begged for more the moment he had the first taste of her. And he kept going back repeatedly, till it became a usual routine.
It had taken everything in him five years ago to walk up to the great alpha of the night howlers pack to beg him to marry his older daughter rather than the second.
He had no intention to spite Edwina; he only wanted to get rid of the guilt that crippled his mind whenever he saw Sonia. He always wished for the night to come to melt his guilt away. But it never did. Instead, it mounted and almost made him go crazy.
When Xander requested to marry Edwina, he knew that was his only chance to get Sonia away from him and stop the abominable act.
As fate would have it, Edwina’s lack of a wolf paved the way for her sister’s freedom. He felt assured that his secrets were safe, with Sonia happily married into a good home. Not until she decided to mess things up and cheat on the alpha with his beta and best friend.
“Stupid child!” He spat in disdain.
He had always thought her to be smart, but he knew she was playing smart by trying to justify her actions, using him as an excuse. Closing his eyes, he thought of Elena and wished she was alive to control his beast. His mistakes were finally meeting up with him, but dying a coward wasn’t an option for him.
Sonia had to die. If she doesn’t, he would be disgraced. It was for the sake of the Sinclair lineage, he tried to convince himself. If he came out of hiding now, it would be a shame for him to be banned and have the future Sinclair wolves as outcasts in their own home.
“I’m sorry baby, but you should have kept your mouth shut. Now, this is the only way out.” He muttered, relaxing himself into the already cold water.
