The Alpha's Exchanged Mate -
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 187
Alexander’s POV…
Dropping off the call from Edwina had put me in a frenzy. She sounded sad. I wish I could go to her now, but they were more important things to deal with at the moment. I don’t mean to say consoling Edwina isn’t important, but the attack on the sizzlers pack is a more pressing issue.
I have been trying to figure out different techniques that can be adapted to incapacitate the sizzlers’ army. It was almost noon, and the others were expected to return to me with their feedback. Aside that, I needed some good food.
It’s tiring to have to work all day with no such thing as a heavy meal inside of me. I plan on resigning from the alpha’s seat after this. All I want to do is wake up to Edwina every day, have some deep s*x, sleep and eat some good food. I know it’s just my wishful thinking, but you can’t blame me for wanting some nice soft life.
There was a knock on the door, and then it came open. My three musketeers strolled in, looking like they had some victory moments they intended to share with me.
“I hope you all have good news to share with me?” I grinned at them.
“This is good news,” Carlos muttered, pulling up a food packet.
Did I ever mention the part where I love Carlos for always showing up in the most beautiful way? He knows just how to win a soul like mine.
“What’s in it?” I asked
“Some lunch from the packhouse sent over by Becca,” Caleb replied, taking a seat.
Without much ado, we all settled into the meals, each of us relishing the taste of it all. I was almost done with the meal when I remembered that we were mourning. I shouldn’t be enjoying a meal this much.
“Something wrong?” Caleb inquired.
I sniffed, shaking my head, as I pushed the plate aside. I waited for the rest to be done.
“Protective gear has been prepared for the warriors to prevent them from getting infected,” Carlos said
“Also, I forgot to mention the other day that the tunnel leading right into the packhouse has four routes surrounding the entire sizzlers pack. Which implies our men can be dispatched in five different groups. Each one would go the north, east, west and south angle of the pack. While the last group would be in charge of taking over the pack, this way, we can incapacitate every of their army.” Jason said.
Caleb cleared his throat, sitting up, “I have had Carlos group these men, and they would be dispatched by midnight. Every one of us should be at the tunnel ready to ravage the whole of sizzlers pack.”
A round of applause should be given to my men. They have worked really well. Truth be told, I felt useless; my sitting in the wheelchair really brought me to some level of ridicule.
“I would have loved to sift out the army myself, though.” I had to say a piece of my mind. “But I trust your judgements. So, are we ready to finally feast an attack on the sizzler pack?”
“Yes, alpha!” The three of them chorused.
“What do you intend to do exactly alpha?” Asked Jason.
“What do you mean?” I inquired.
“Do you want them dead or captured?” He repeated.
They would definitely resist, but I want John and Ben captured alive. Would like to compromise with alpha bethel. He is more interested in a negotiation that would benefit him. Moreover, I have no intention of becoming his enemy. Ben was the one who built a wall between us all.” I responded.
“It will be nice to see alpha Bethel grope for help.” Carlos found it funny.
If it were up to me, I would have asked for the men I needed to surrender, but they would surely put up resistance, especially for Ben and John. Moreso, this attack is to warn Bethel of the night howlers and make him aware of my army’s strength. I have had enough of them thinking we are weak and can’t stand up for ourselves.
I admit I had been weak at a point due to the betrayal that I had encountered. Thinking of it now, I’m thankful the goddess created another avenue for me to recover.
“Let’s all focus on ensuring we achieve our aim. That is what matters the most.” Caleb added.
“The beta has spoken!” Carlos teased, wiggling his brows at Jason, who seemed to be trying hard to hide his smile.
“F**k you!” Caleb said, chuckling too.
“We should all meet at the force ground by ten tonight,” I informed them, “let’s all get everything ready by then and get this over and done with. It’s becoming a pain in the neck.”
“Did you eventually call her?” Caleb asked as soon as Carlos and Jason left the office.
I scoffed, “what if I didn’t?”
“I can envision you living the rest of your life a lonely and frustrated alpha. That I can assure you.”
“Edwina wouldn’t leave me. Don’t forget I’m the alpha.”
“You just bluffing. She would ignore you for the rest of your entire life.”
I gave him a close look, “you really wish for me to end up being single and lonely, don’t you?”
He shrugged, “am I that obvious?”
We both laughed out loud, mine coming out from the need to ease off the tension surrounding my guts.
“How are you feeling?” Caleb asked.
“Truth?” He nodded in the affirmative. “I’m super scared, man!”
Caleb sighed, “same here. But we can’t let those morons keep trampling upon us.”
“I want all of this to be over, Caleb. It’s tiring that we keep having to focus on them when the development of the night howlers is being kept at bay.”
“Development can only take place when the members are protected.”
I agreed with Caleb. I would love for all of this to end so I can lend Edwina a proper shoulder to lean on. Caleb barged into my thoughts with his insistent questions.
“You haven’t told me what she said.” He mused, leaning further into the chair.
“Can you learn to let things go once in your life?”
He snorted in response. I was about to say something I knew would sound savage when he got cut short by the door opening. Ramona walked in, muttered a word to me, dropped the file and walked back out.
I laughed my lungs out, “You are one to talk, really. You suck at acting on your own advice.” I taunted him.
His glare was enough to bore a big hole inside of me. But I couldn’t care less at this point.
