The Alpha's Exchanged Mate
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 162

Authors POV…

“Are you okay, Caleb?” Becca asked as she stood up, walking towards him. The moment she stepped close to him, Caleb collapsed into her, resting his head on her shoulder.

After dropping Xander off, he had taken some long moments sitting in the car, brooding over what he was meant to do. He weighed his pro and cons. Ever since Becca had confessed her feelings to him, it had been one sleepless night after another.

Asides from that, Caleb missed her presence. He missed the talks they shared and Becca feeding him at every chance she got.

Caleb had thought about the discussion between himself and Xander when he realized that Xander was right with his speculations. His head was lying on Becca’s shoulder right now, and inhaling her every scent felt like pure bliss to him.

To think he had been missing such grace because he was too blinded to see. Caleb no longer cares what Ramona thinks of him. All that matters to him now is getting on good terms with his Becca.

Becca raised him as his weight began to sway her, “what’s the matter?” She inquired, touching his face with deep affection.

“Let’s sit, please.” He requested as his legs were beginning to betray him. He had been sitting for a bit too long in the car, and his legs were cramped together.

As both of them settled on the floor, Becca glanced at him. “how did you find me?”

“When I asked about you from the packhouse, none of them could tell where you were. I decided to check your room, and you still weren’t there. That was when I thought to come to check for you here instead, knowing it’s your favourite spot to sit at.” Caleb sounded like he was about to run out of breath

“That’s nice,” Becca muttered.

“Why were you with Carlos?”

Becca rolled her eyes, almost like she had expected him to ask the question. “We only met here coincidentally.”

Caleb grumbled, “I hope he isn’t stalking you.”

“Caleb!” Becca laughed, feeling a bit free. It had been long since she laughed that way with him present. “he has no such feelings towards me. Carlos is in love with someone else. The both of us are just plain friends.”

“Oh, I see.” He muttered, placing his hands on his knees.

Looking out into the night, Caleb’s mind went into a rolling race. He was trying to figure out a proper way to start the conversation without being rude or saying the wrong things. It took him time to realize that Becca is an important part of his life that he wouldn’t want to lose for anything in the world.

Clearing his throat, “Becca,” He called out softly

Becca focused her attention, deciding not to respond wordly to avoid cutting him short.

Seeing that her full attention was on him. Caleb continued, “it had taken me a whole lot of night to eventually conclude that you are irreplaceable, Becca. I’m so sorry for how I acted when you confessed your feelings. I had acted too nonchalant to it, and now I regret every action of mine.” Taking a pause, “I haven’t figured out what it is exactly, but one thing is for sure. I don’t want to lose you, Becca. I don’t think I would ever be fine if someone else took you away from me, or if someone else became the reason why you laugh so hard. I know I sound selfish right now, but I really couldn’t care less. All I want is to be In your arms. I hope you will take me back, really don’t mind being placed on probation.”

That got Becca laughing, “you are something else, Caleb.” Taking a deep breath, “I was angry in the first place. Wondering why it turned out that way and why I couldn’t keep my thoughts to myself. I had gotten so used to your presence that it felt odd being without you. As much as my feelings are about loving you, I will take whatever you give as long as you do not disrespect me. I have missed you, Caleb, and I really want us back together.”

Caleb sniffed, placing a loose hair strand behind her ear. “I have missed you so much, too, Becca. All I want right now is to be in your arms.”

“Me too,” Becca admitted.

The both of them subconsciously leaned into each other, kissing lightly at first before increasing the pace.

Holding on to Caleb like her life depended on it. Butterflies played catch up in the pit of her belly. She couldn’t believe Carlos had been right, almost like he had seen through what was bound to happen. From the k**s they shared, she could feel all of his emotions wrapped up in the movement of his lips. She didn’t want it to end.

Placing his forehead against hers, Caleb sighed. “We would do this one step at a time, yeah?”

“Yeah.” Becca replied, “as long as you are here with me.”

Sitting close, both leaned into each other’s embrace, not bothering to say the words to each other, knowing the silence carried so much.

Caleb let out a long relieving sigh. When he was looking for Becca, he didn’t know what he had in mind to tell her. But it came as a huge surprise that he had so much to say the moment he got close to her.

Holding her tighter to himself, he had almost forgotten what it felt like to be in Becca’s warmth.

Rubbing her nose against his jaw stubble, Becca muttered softly. “Have you had dinner? If you don’t mind some snacks, we can make do with scones.”

Caleb smacked his lips, “I definitely wouldn’t miss that for anything in the world.”

“Let’s go back to the packhouse then,” Becca said, standing up.

Doing the same thing, Caleb held her hand, both of them swinging down the path like five-year-old kids. Caleb had never felt so happy; he was finally back to his solace.
