The Alpha's Exchanged Mate
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 149

Ben’s POV…

If I could chew off Bethel’s head, I would definitely do it with no remorse. How in the world does someone play so dumb? What alpha doesn’t prepare against emergencies? This is why I would keep saying it; I’m far off a better Alpha than this made-by-birth weakling.

Just when I thought it was right about time for me to attain my victory and conquer the night howler’s pack when they least expected, an epidemic broke out due to alpha Bethel’s recklessness.

One of the prostitutes he brings from outside the pack had a virus named canine distemper. It’s not a recent disease, but it’s rare. It had first broken out in a werewolf pack that had gone extinct about a century before I was born.

It had been made known to be a contagious viral disease. Each pack’s disease control set up is expected to do all it can by being vigilant enough to ensure the rest of the pack members are protected from any sort of illness.

Even though it had been a long while, it broke out again about a decade ago in a far-distant pack whose members were a small population. Every other pack ensured his walls were guided; the night howlers weren’t left out in putting whoever showed just a slight symptom in quarantine.

To think that a whole alpha of a pack as massive as the sizzlers had been insensitive enough to let an unchecked wolf come into his pack was the height of irresponsibility for me.

Canine distemper is so messy; it makes the victim lose the ability to control their shift, make them go blind while also having seizures, and they get killed almost immediately. If she hadn’t been noticed by the driver of the personal car sent by the alpha to bring her down to the packhouse, every one of us, including myself, would have been at risk. The driver had been smart enough to drive down to the disease control centre to have her taken care of. Every other person that got in contact with her from the airport has been quarantined.

And the rest of the pack is asked to stay locked up in their various houses until everything was sure to be fine. There is a cure for it, and every pack guards it relentlessly, a rare flower referred to as the wild purple.

Most reasonable packs had gone in search of it when it resurfaced a decade ago and made a greenhouse for it. I was glad our dear alpha bethel was thoughtful enough to do that.

The bastard had to lie to the pack members that he knew nothing about a foreigner coming into the pack without being tested. I almost blurted out to call him bluff, but I knew better.

Now, he didn’t just ruin all of my plans, but his dumbness will prevent me from getting f****d. Malia has had to stay in the confines of her home, and also just in time when her partner is around.

Staring at his blockhead made my insides churn.

Bethel slapped his forehead, “can’t believe this is happening right now!” He whined, and he had been doing so for almost every passing second.

I wish I could really get him to keep his bloody mouth shut. I was about to die of boredom and had no choice but to join him in the garden. One interesting thing about the packhouse was the availability of a whole lot of people who could indulge in entertaining acts to keep the place lively.

The maids have indulged in some music and dancing to delight their f****d up alpha, who seemed more interested in getting quarantined with his foreign stripper than going down on any of his available maids.

One look at him, you could tell he was talking into major depression. I backed out a laugh, unconsciously trying to restrain myself.

He turned to look at me, “is everything fine, Ben?”

I nodded vigorously, gesturing towards the maids. “I just find them funny.”

“I hate having to sit and be bored out of my mind like this!” Bethel lamented.

I couldn’t care less about the way he was feeling, “how long did they say it would take to lift the restriction?”

“In two weeks.” He responded, sounding bored.

The urge to slam my hands against something came out strong, but I had to control myself. “Fair enough.” I gritted.

“So sorry that we have to shift your plans till then.”

I snorted, glad that he had the sense to apologize. “It’s all good.” I lied through my teeth.

He nodded, staring ahead into space again. I was so not having any of this bullshit. It irked me enough that I couldn’t relieve my stress by having some raging hot s*x. Now I had to put my whole life at a standstill for two weeks. I could still handle the attack plans, but me not having to f**k Malia for the next two weeks.

I could feel myself slipping into actual depression; Malia’s p***y was like a dream come true for me. No one comes near, not even Sonia.

The thought of Sonia got me thinking. There were so many people I needed to deal with. F*****g Jared had not given me any information as regards Sonia and my unborn child. I had no idea if she had given birth or not.

I am definitely changing my right-hand man as soon as this shit is over. Jared has become unreliable, and that is the least kind of person I need on my team.

“What do you think of that maid?” Bethel elbowed me on the side, nodding his head towards a pretty-looking maid.

I didn’t really pay attention to the person he was pointing at as my eyes stayed glued on someone else that I would have never thought I would see.

“Is that Malia?” I said out loud.

“What?” Bethel inquired with a raised brow.

“Oh, don’t mind me.” I replied, standing up. I nodded towards him. “Give me a moment please. I would be back.”

Even though I doubted if I would return to his side if my eyes weren’t deceiving me. I just couldn’t help not saying it.

Moving through the silent hallway, I felt a hand drag me to the side. Lo and behold, it was no other person but Malia.

I grinned, “I really would like to ask how you made it out here. But that would be for later.” I muttered, taking in her mouth hungrily.
