Chapter 93

Alex and Beth were both shocked to hear the Elders offer. She could only stare in disbelief at the faces before her.

Elizabeth knew they were desperate but she never thought it would reach this extent of dethroning Asher as Alpha all in a bit to get to her.

Was that how tasty they are for her b***d? She wondered in her mind as she continued to wait anxiously to hear Alex response.

So far, he hasn’t said a word causing her to wonder if he would even say no. Anyone in his shoes will want to become the Alpha of such a big and great pack.

She continued to wonder in silence as she peered up at Alex as though she wanted to force words out of his mouth already.

“Think about it Alexandra, close your eyes and imagine seating on the throne, you don’t have to wait for anyone’s order, you can make whatever you want and whatever you say stands, all the people will be bowing down to you, think about such huge offer Alexandra.” He said again.

“Why are you not saying anything, just hand her over to us and we are the king makers we will make you the best Alpha you could ever dream of becoming, or don’t you wish to become an Alpha one-day?” Another elder said almost immediately.

“All my life, I have wanted nothing more than to become an Alpha, it has always been my dream to one day make my own rules and seeing everyone following my lead, I want to become an Alpha so I can change a lot of things.” Alexander began to speak.

Beth couldn’t help but shake her head at his word. She could tell he wasn’t about to make the right direction at the moment.

She has known him to be a good man but right at that moment, she wasn’t so sure how much that moment would turn out in her favor if the Beta was to succumb to the elders pressure.

“Alex, please. You can’t do that to Asher, you can’t hand us over to him.” Beth said slowly.

“Smart dreams Alexander. Think of yourself for once” Elder Marcus applaud.

Elizabeth shot her eyes closed, it’s now dawn on her that they can go to any extent to get her custody and dethrone Alpha Asher but how can Alex agree to this when he supposed to be their protector?

Didn’t he swore to keep them save till Asher’s return? Why then is he allowing himself to be manipulated at this point.

Elder Marcus signaled to one of the guard to grab her.

“Not so fast, Marcus.” Alex said and Elder Marcus and everyone else was shocked.

“Did you just called me Marcus?” Elder Marcus asked, his jawline clenching tightly in anger.

“Isn’t that your name? Tell me.” Alex replied.

“Anyways since you are becoming the next Alpha then it’s nothing to me.” Elder Marcus said chuckling.

“I’m not becoming any Alpha neither will anyone else took the throne when Alpha Asher is still alive and breathing in this world, get it!” Alex stated firmly.

Beth’s eyes flutter opened, a little relief sigh escaping her l*p at the same time.

Alex didn’t turned on Asher. Oh he really didn’t. Elizabeth couldn’t contend her joy as she sat staring at the curly hair man before her gaze.

She couldn’t believe she almost doubted him. Oh how truly wrong she was. Alex would never betray Asher like that. That she knew now.

“What nonsense are you talk about, you should be celebrating that i, upon all people came up with this idea to make you go higher, I wanted to uplift your position because I thought you are smart but now you are just another dumb follower” Elder Marcus sneered through gritted teeth.

“There a lot of other things that matter to me than becoming Alpha or claiming his position and I’m not going to waste my time explaining it to you because you will never understand it” Alex replied.

“What else can be more important than ruling?” Elder Marcus said with a disgusting grin.

Alex gaze only darted at the woman who was seated beside him momentarily before taking a step towards the elders table.

“To you, killing Beth is the only thing that matters to you, but to me, my best friend Alpha Asher’s trust means everything to me, he is not just my Alpha, he is my brother and that is something you can’t break” Alexander yelled and Beth admired him for his courage even more.

“But it was your dream to be the Alpha! Were you planning to leave them unfulfilled because of some dumb friendship!” Elder Marcus mocked.

“Firstly, our friendship is genuine and real, and don’t you dare call it dumb, the fact that you are an elder doesn’t mean I won’t be able to break a few of your limb, so stay in your limits!” Alex warned firmly, his eyes narrowing into slit.

“And for my dreams, not all dreams can be fulfilled Marcus, some were meant to stay in the Dreamland, so I have decided that I’m not taking the throne and I’m not handing over Beth and her son to you and that’s mean, whoever want her will have to get through me first.” Alex said and pulled Beth by the hand and was about to walk away before he paused midway at their next comment.

“You can’t protect her forever, Alexander. Even Asher had to run away when it got tough. You might be next”

” Asher never ran away! He isn’t a coward nor a loser or a shameless person like most of you around here. While he is actually out doing the best he can do, you bunch are back here scheming to replace him. Have you all forgotten how much he protected you in the past? He even brought a good name and reputation to our pack, he made sure he gave you the respect you deserved, but this is how you are planning to pay him back!” Alex yelled and causing Beth to flinch and then stepped away from him.

“Well, we can’t continue to live in past glory and, since you don’t want to accept our offer, then we will go ahead and look for anyone capable or incapable and make him the Alpha of the pack and you won’t be able to stop him by then.” Elder Marcus said.

Alex removed the short dagger strapped to his waist and within a tinkle of an eyes, he was right before the elder, his dagger placed under his neck dangerously.

Everyone let out a surprised gasp including Beth, who even covered her mouth.

“You can only make another stupid person an Alpha only if you are alive right?. I’m the beta and i have right to install some Sense to senseless people like you, no one is becoming the Alpha, I repeat no one will become the f*****g Alpha as long as I live and if you dare try to enforce that rule, I swear by the moon goddess to behead you and the new Alpha you are planning to out in the throne”

“Okay, just get the knife away from my neck this minute” Elder Marcus shuttered and Alex tightened his grip even more as he continued to glare at Elder Marcus and withdraw the blade from his throat and took a step back.

Elder Marcus looked terrified as sweat gathered all around his face, he exhaled deeply as Alex took hold of Beth’s hand and dragged her out of their presence without a second glance.

Throughout the walk back to the Alpha quarter, not once did Alex let go of her hand neither did he say a word to her.

Beth on the other hand was completely lost in her own thought to say anything to the Beta. Alex was still livid even as they walked past pack members who threw their greetings at them.

Alex still didn’t reply to any of it. She doubt if he even heard them. His jaw was still clenching and unclenching in annoyance.

Beth simply allowed herself to be led on but deep in her heart, she was rejoicing and praising Alex for his bravery and standing up for her and her son and also keeping his words for the sake of his best friend.

An offer to be the Alpha of such a great pack is something no one can reject for nothing, but Alex just did that and to her, he was indeed a strong minded beta, he really deserve the title.

On arriving at the room, Alex quickly let go of her hand before looking up to face her.

“I’m sorry you had to see me like that. I don’t usually act like a manic. I just sorta lost control for a moment there”

Beth couldn’t help it anymore, she practically jumped at him, her arms going around to wrap around his midrib in a tight hug.

“Thank you, Alex. Thank you so much” She cried into his bosom.

Alex was stunned for a moment at the sudden reaction. Before he could relax into the hug, Elizabeth pulled away before standing on her tipy toe to place a k**s on his cheek.

Alex was once again dumbfounded as he was motionless for some minutes, the world suddenly coming to a stand still as he stood unmovable for some second more.

Elizabeth saw the look on his face and realized what she had done and quickly start to apologize.

“I’m so sorry, I just got carried away” she began to speak but Alex caught her short, as his hands came to cup both her cheeks in his palm.

“Don’t apologize. It’s okay”

“Are you sure? I mean you look offended” Beth said with a nervous chuckle.

All along, Alex was staring right into her eyes and inching closer to her with every breath he took until he finally closed the gap between them.

For a moment, she didn’t moved back or flinch away. She simply thought he wants to hug her too or try to remove something from her hair as usual but the next thing he did left her speechless.

Alex leaned in further and placed his lips on hers almost delicately as though he was afraid he was going to hurt her just by making that single contact with her.

For a moment, his lips just embraced hers, neither of them willing to take the k**s further before his hands went around the back of her neck, pulling her even closer as he began to k**s her hungrily.

Alex grip was getting tighter as he continued to k**s her. He didn’t want to let go of her, not even for a second. Beth felt his hands moving into her dress and she quickly pushed him away.

“What the f**k are you doing!” She half yelled and demanded.

“Beth, I can’t keep this anymore, I can’t hide it, I have a heart too, I can fall in love, Elizabeth I love you, I really love you so much. You have no idea how much I have waited for you to realize my feelings towards you” Alex confessed breathlessly as he took a step towards her and she took another backward, a look of shock and disbelief flashing through her eyes.

“What are you talking about?”

“You have to believe me, Elizabeth. I can’t keep my feeling hidden anymore”

“Stop it Alex, you are not in your right senses.” Beth said, still shaking her head in denial.

“Elizabeth I’m in my right Sense, and I meant any words that I said to you.” Alex replied.

“I’m sorry Alex, but you have to leave right now”
