Taken By The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 74
Asher hurried off to Eva’s house not exactly sure what could be wrong. Though he felt it in his bones, he just couldn’t place his hand on what could have gone wrong.
Has she ran away? He wondered with a little frown but decided against that very thought as he practically forced his feet to hurry along. It wasn’t long before he arrived at the doctor’s place and found everything to be the same, the only thing amiss was the sight before him as he stood at a safe distance and overlooking the occupied balcony.
Asher couldn’t understand why his wolf felt threatened but before his gaze was Elizabeth and Alex laughing about God knows what. There was really nothing odd other than they were seating way too close for comfort.
He wasn’t exactly bothered until Alex reached out a hand and brush her hair behind her left ear. Something stroke the Alpha at that moment. It wasn’t jealousy, it was a moment of confusion for him. Asher didn’t Just know how to feel about that very gesture as he continued to stare at the people seated before him.
Does he like her? Or is he just being his usual cheerful self around her but then again, what if he is wrong and his beta/ best friend has also taken a liking towards the hunter’s daughter just like he has, afterall, Elizabeth is really that likeable and Alex has no mate.
His mate went rogue before they could consummate their bond and he never went after her and if he was trying to find affection by being nice to Elizabeth then it would be understandable but the thought of something like that actually happening between them made his b***d run cold.
Asher didn’t know if he could call this a betrayal but considering that he has no claim to Elizabeth, it would be fair if Alex tried to nestle around there but for f**k sake, she is still with child. His child to be exact and whatever gave him the idea he could make a move on her has to be cut short.
From where he stood, he couldn’t hear what they were saying but one thing he could see clearly was that, Elizabeth was truly happy as she spoke to Alex which left Asher feeling a bitter pile in his mouth. It was truly a sight for sore eyes and he just couldn’t bear to watch it anymore.
The more he stood watching them, the more he felt angry. At last, he left them, heading back to his quarters.

Asher returned back to his office with a heavy heart. It seemed like a hundred pound of brick has been dropped in his chest and for the first time in months, Asher’s sadness was not because of his late wife but Elizabeth.
He knew he should have felt relieved to see her happy and well but he wasn’t. In fact, he didn’t know if he could conjure that feeling at that point. Instead, what was in his heart was jealousy and rage, both at her and his best friend.
He didn’t quite know where it was coming from but it all there. He remembered every bit of that moment, the look in her eyes and smile which just worsened how he was feeling at that point. In his own warped sense of reasoning, it should have been him who put that smile on her face and not his Beta.
He has seen the way he defended her, he should have known it was something else. Every one of his words screamed care and affection for her. Maybe it was all in his head but his instinct have never been wrong before.
Something is definitely going on, maybe not with Elizabeth but Alex has a lot of explanation to do. She has never being happy with him like she currently is with Alex.
It’s truth he hasn’t been the best person around her nor does he deserve her but still, Asher couldn’t help but feel this rage within him.
He couldn’t even concentrate on anything else no matter how hard he tries, his whole mind and body was on what Elizabeth could be doing and what not.
“F**k” He let out a g***n.
A light knock on his door jolted him away from his thoughts. This was his work hour and he didn’t expect anyone to come in. Even Alex knew better than to disturb his Alpha when he was working. Asher had no idea who it might be or what they might be looking for and he didn’t care.
He wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone at all and the earlier the person left, the better for who it might be.
“Get lost” Asher growled from within his office.
It was a loud growl that had the birds hanging on the window panes scampering away. He was angry, livid instead and when he was like this, there was no telling what he could do.
The knock didn’t stop, instead it continued even when he shouted. Just then, the door was pushed open by no other person but Kara. To say Asher was surprised to see her would be an understatement, he was downright shocked. After all the warning he had given her, she still had the nerve to show her face to him.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. Everything was screaming within him to throw her out through the damn windows that very instant but he decided to stay calm and find out what she really wanted even though he doubt it was anything reasonable.
The look on her face already told him, he was about to deal with the same slutty version of Kara, dressed in that ripped shirt and jean.
“What do you want?” Asher snapped before she could reach his desk.
She giggled, walking towards him still before leaning against the edge of his desk slightly with a smile.
“I came to see if you needed anything Alpha. I mean, are you not hungry for food or anything else?” she said simply and leaned over slightly, exposing the top of her shirt that was unbutton.
“I’m not hungry, even if I was, I know just where to get food” Asher seethed.
“Come on, now. You and I used to have fun all the time. What changed” She cooed as she inched closer and sat beside his desk, her hand gently rubbing against his arms.
Asher grasp hold of her hand midway, “Nothing changed, Kara. I just don’t want you anymore. Now get that into your thick skull and get away from me” He sneered.
If Kara was surprised about this, she made no indications of being affected by it. She still smiled like a mad banshee who had no shame. As far as Asher was concerned, she had no single bit of it.
Kara has gone past being just a nuisance, he was a pest he desperately wanted to discard but she was proving difficult which was something he hated. She smiled some more which annoyed him to no end. He didn’t know what was funny when he had told her everything. Her smile unnerved him and he just wished he had a spell he could cast on her to make her dumb maybe only then would she let him be.
She leaned over before trailing her fingers through the outline of his pant before whispering, Alright Alpha, I’m going to go but if you need someone to take care of that for you, you know just where to find me”
Asher let out a warning growl and she quickly scurry out the door and he let out a sigh.
