Chapter 52

Asher POV.

After their little conversation that night. Asher went to sleep but couldn’t sleep. His mind was troubled and it was all thanks to what Alex had come to relay to him while he was at the garden with Elizabeth.

It seems the elders are trying to move against him. Asher knew if he didn’t come up with a way out soon, he will have more than the elders to contend with. He could have ask his brother for help but knowing him and all he stands for, he’d be his last go to person.

Try as he may. He just couldn’t get his mind to relax and allow sleep to lure him in. He glanced at the woman sleeping beside him and found Elizabeth to be fast asleep. He reached out a hand and brush some hair away from her face.

She stirred in her sleep and crawl into his chest and he sighed in deeply and just lay still. The last thing he needed is to wake her up.

Once she fell back into her sleeping rhythm once again, Asher continued to toss until he finally found sleep only to jerk awake and found the room empty. He found a note by the side that she has gone to the garden.

“F*****g garden” he cursed out loud as he jumped back on his feet.

How in the world could she even think to go outside without his permission. What part of him forbidding her to go out did she not understand?

Asher quickly grabbed a shirt and threw it on as he hurried out the door, in search of her.

He made it outside and began to hurry towards where he knew he would be. He was rounding the corner when he ran into Kara. Seems she had gone for a morning run.

“Hey, Alpha. Going somewhere” She said and tried to brush a hand across his arm but he by pass her and went on his way.

The closer he got, the more restless he could feel his beast wanting to break free. He quicken his step as he half ran and sprint down the path leading to where she caught.

Every single hair on his body stood on edge when he heard a loud scream he could only recognized to hers. Without another restraint on his beast, he let spring forth to the surface as his wolf leap through the air and went racing like never before.

He had no idea what could be happening but he sent out a message to Alex through their mind link just before he rounded the corner and over there, he saw Elizabeth cornered with a dagger to her neck.

His b***d ran cold and then hot again as he charged forward, his claws out and ready to slice through whatever was out to attack her. Even in his wolf form, he could feel her fear as though it was his as the mask man continued to stalked towards her with a mad gleam in his eyes.

The man was fast, swift even with his movement as he noticed Asher’s wolf approaching. Just as he was about to take the final blow, Asher smacked right into him, knocking them both to the floor.

Elizabeth watched as her mask attacker and Asher wolf battled but it was easy to see that Asher had the upper hand. He was fierce and snapping his canines at the man’s neck as he had him spin to the floor.

Before she could warn him to watch out, the man pulled out a smaller dagger from his boot and was about to drive it into his neck but Asher was quick on reflex and moved out of his reach but he wasn’t fast enough as he had the knife buried into his upper limp.

Asher let out a loud howl before ripping out the fellows throat and Elizabeth slumped to her knees before scrambling to run to Asher when she he heard him whimper a few times, falling to the ground.

Asher was once again back in his human form, though butt naked, Elizabeth could care less as she hurried to his side and gather him into her arms. He was hurt badly with a deep gash on his right arm.

“Asher!” She cried as she knelt beside him.

“Are you hurt?” He questioned with a wince and she shook her head, unable to speak before Alex materialized before him.

“Asher!” He called out in panic, seeing the sight of b***d and the state he was in.

“I got here as fast as I could. What happened?”

“It’s all my fault, Alex. I never should have left without his permission.. Oh gosh” She cried even more.

“come on, I don’t know what happened but I don’t think it’s your fault so you have to stop crying” Alex assured her as he went around to check his Alpha who was struggling to stay awake.

“is he going to be fine?” she questioned and Alex sighed.

“It’s just a cut, Asher has received worst”

More guards had arrived at the scene at this point and even helped to carry their Alpha back to their chamber.

“come on, Beth. We have to get you inside”

Asher was lay on the bed back in his room while Eva arrived to fix up his wound.

“How is he, Eva. Will he be okay?”

Eva continued to checked the depth of the cut in his arm before forcing his eyes open. Asher seem to be getting worst by the minute much to the little group in the room surprise.

“What did you say happen to Asher again?” Eva asked turning to face Alex, who stood by the bedside.

“From the mark of the wound, you can tell it’s a small knife. Asher should be feeling just fine but for the past hour now, he seem to be growing weaker”

“I’m afraid whatever knife that was used on him was poisoned and somehow, it’s preventing him from healing like a normal wolf”

“What? What does that mean?” Elizabeth croaked out, her eyes darting between Alex and Eva for a better explanation to what her words meant.

“I’m sorry, Elizabeth. If we don’t get Asher the right antidote, he might die”

“What?” Her eyes grew even wider, with mouth hanging low before she snapped it shut with hands clasped in front of her.

“please, just give him the right antidote. Don’t let him die because of me. Please”

“I can’t tell you if what I have is the right one but I will try my best” Eva said firmly before turning to Alex. “Please, hold him down for me”

Asher g*****d under his breath as Alex grasped his left shoulder and pinned him against the bed while Eva start to shuffle through her medicine box.

With syringe in hand, she nod at Alex before injecting him across the right shoulder. Asher spasm for a moment before he lay still and Elizabeth gasped with wild eyes, her expression mirroring that of Alex.

“What just happened?” She began, her eyes darting between Alex and Eva once again.

“I mean, is that a normal reaction?”
